The music in here in Ireland is great I will admit that, even Metallica likes it. But the places here are actually quite nice as when you go to the curragh seeing all of the green hills especially in the evening when the sun goes down it is a sight to behold. When the sun descends it's a really beautiful thing to see. Be the same in glendalough as well.
I'm 19 and i'm from Vietnam. It's so weird that music from that side of the world, played by people from that side of the century would fascinate this boy in the faraway corner of the world. Much admirable!
@@abdulvonundzurahman5338 Wtf does that mean? Im an american from the Region of New England XD. My people came here in like the 1600s. So to say I "immigrated" here is incorrect. But at the same time my region maintains its own distinct culture.

The internet is a wondrous thing in many ways. Back in the early '70s Hallmark Hall of Fame had a program on TV that was set in Ireland. I only saw it once, but this song was in it. I could remember the melody and only the lyrics "fair colleen...the County Down". That's it. Couldn't remember what the Hall of Fame story was about anymore, but the song was stuck in my head for the last 45 years. Tonight, for whatever reason, I decided to do yet another search to try and pin down that song. And I found it :-). Now it is an "ear worm" and I probably won't be able to get it out of my head for the next two weeks. But that's okay. I have loved this song for almost a half century - when I didn't even know what song it was!
I grew up in a rural town in the northern Denmark, raised from birth with Dubliners, Irish Rovers, Irish Descendants, Fishermans friends, the list goes on. These are the most nostalgic songs to me. I was taught to play the tin whistle by my father, and found jew's harp and accordion myself. There is no better music to me than this, and I love it.

Even when I was little, before I knew my family had distant Irish roots, Gaelic music always set my soul on fire. I think it makes more sense changing the lyrics to say "cailín" instead of "Colleen." The song says her name is Rosie, so her name isn't Colleen. Cailín is pronounced the exact same though, and it's gaelic for "girl," which makes much more sense in the context
The name Colleen comes from the word cailín and because they are pronounced the same, it is easy to write Colleen as everyone would know how to pronounce it. Also the English word Colleen can also mean "girl", although it is usually used in the context of a name
