Discovering Eastend House Thankerton Scotland

- This flight nearly didn't happen. Winds were gusting 46-52mph. The drone barely handled it. Due to amount of trees and wind unfortunately I couldn't get the normal shots I use.
Eastend House, located in Thankerton, South Lanarkshire, is a fascinating historical building with a rich past.
The house has its roots in a simple square keep dating back to around 1500.
In 1673, crowstep-gabled wings were added to the east and west sides.
An 18th-century bow-fronted elevation completely encases the original keep on the southern side.
Scottish Baronial additions by architect David Bryce were made in 1851.
Condition and Risk:
Unfortunately, Eastend House is currently in very poor condition.
It falls under the “High” risk category due to neglect and deterioration.
The house has suffered from issues like dry rot and water penetration.

Couldn't agree with you more, David. The building is barely hanging on. 1 strong wind, and it really could collapse. I would have been inside, but just too dangerous even for me

@DocColVideo I'm like you Colin didn't know it existed. Visited Carmichael Estate not long ago to do the house. The whole estate is littered with abandoned buildings. I'll be back when it's not as windy, and torches for the inside 😁
