    I certainly agree with your comments about the training and safety aspects of the SA/DA action design. I’ve always appreciated being able to hold my thumb on the hammer while re-holstering. I own a number of striker-fired guns; my best is the HKVP9SK but even with that one I always breath a little easier when I hear it click into the holster. Also, for many of us is the peace of mind of having a manual safety. I have the Beretta 92fs Inox (essentially the same gun being demonstrated in the video without the custom work) and I have trained myself to release the safety on the draw. The action to release the safety is simply to push the thumb, which is in its normal position when holding the gun, forward against the safety lever - no rotational action is necessary with the thumb, just straight forward. This is the way it was designed to be used but many owners do not do that.
    The safety system is part of the decocking mechanism. The Sig P series, which is also DA/SA, has a decocker, but it is a _dedicated_ decocker, which means no safety. When you press down on the Sig decocker it decocks the gun and then springs back into position and thus does what a decocker is supposed to do - drop the hammer safely, but it has no inherent safety consideration beyond that point. With the Beretta the decocker does not spring back but stays in the safe position. When in this position the Beretta has no "wall", the trigger simply travels front to back in the trigger guard limply. The gun CANNOT go off due to anything involving the trigger. The moment the decocker/safety is pushed forward the gun is immediately hot in DA mode.
    Now I earlier said that I take the gun off safety on the draw. In addition to this I have also trained myself to cock the hammer as I am raising the gun to acquire my sights. Now the gun is in single action mode. I am considering a hammer modification to make the cocking easier but I can accomplish this in reasonable time with the hammer which came with the gun. Frankly, I am very surprised that no one ever talks about the option of cocking the hammer in any of the videos I've watched online. Of course one does not have to be in single action to engage a threat. As Mas has already pointed out, the transition from the DA trigger pull to the SA pull is not that big of a deal, but I like the option of being able to cock the gun for SA if time permits.

    • @M8Military
      @M8Military 2 месяца назад

      Cocking a hammer during draw is not recommended due to it being a complex maneuver to perform in a high stress situation. If you want a single action beretta 92 with a manual 1911 style thumb safety, buy THAT version of a 92

    I've carried a Beretta 92FS 9mm for service from 2003-2019. I've never touched the Beretta 92G 9mm, but I can say that I wasn't a fan of the 92FS. I shot 'expert' with the Beretta starting my first time handling it, but it always felt cumbersome and slow. Back in... maybe 2012, I picked up a Springfield XD in .45 and a 4" barrel. On my first day at the range, the recoil pattern absolutely shocked me! I was amazed at how the weapon smoothly returned to my aimpoint after every squeeze of the trigger. As one can imagine, it made follow-up shots very quick as I didn't need to fully re-aim my weapon, just a quick adjustment, and I was good to shoot. I read that Beretta has a better reputation than I'm used to hearing, but after carrying a Springfield XD, I can't imagine myself carrying much else (except the compact versions, of course).

    Great video, I too change Guns way to often. My latest favorite is the Sig P365 XL. I just bought the grip frame for the newer 17 round macro with 3 magazines. The problem now is adequate holsters. For safety reason I won’t carry a striker fired gun without a well engineered holster.

    I’ve transitioned to Sigs. My hands are a bit too small for a reliable grip on a G19 without a frame modification. Favorite carry gun is a P226 in 9mm w/ 18 round mags. I love the SA/DA design especially for re-holstering. And if the 1st shot needs to be precision I’ve practiced cocking the firearm after the draw with good results. Next in line is a P365XL with the original P365 for pocket carry in the summer.

      Got to love the loaded and ready DA/SA action. There's a nice video on the other safety features built into the classic series Sigs that made me appreciate them even more. Forget who did the video but he shows all the functional internal parts of each. No 'exterior safety' but a few internal ones....then just add the decocker and the DA to top it off. Like Mas said...just have to put in the trigger time.

    I love both my Wilson Combat 92G Vertec Centurion and my Langdon Tactical Beretta 92G Elite LTT full size. Both are amazing pistols that I would have no trouble relying on in a pinch if I'm forced to utilize a 9mm platform pistol. Still prefer to carry either a 40S&W, or a 1911 Commander in 45ACP-but that's just me.

    Not knocking W/C because I also have their Centurion. I recently learned of LTT from this channel. I bought their Centurion LTT and the trigger is way better than the W/C which I thought would never be beat. I guess maybe just the luck of the draw. The problem I have with LTT is my RDO slide. The front sight keeps blowing off at the range. I have sent it back, but to avail it still flys off. 😡 great video sir as always.

    My EDC pistol is the Beretta PX4 STORM COMPACT CARRY in 9mm. I’m a late arrival to the DA/SA pistols (having been sold on them by Earnest Langdon) but a big fan. IMHO, if you can learn to shoot a DA/SA trigger well, you can shoot any trigger system well!
