Taking a glowing hourglass charge into an item room is a good idea, for other reasons too. If you undo time to before you entered, you keep the planetarium chance. Also, you can check blind items while keeping some ability to choose.
Ocular rift has killed me more times than I can count, the mega satan fight + ocular rift is incredibly dumb cuz mega satan flies everywhere, and when he shoots his brimstone, it's almost unavoidable.

I say ludovico and the one that makes your tears stick then explode onto enemy’s is the worst synergy, got to hush tear kept on sticking onto him and right when it’s about to explode it returns back to me
there's something very amusing about constantly using the hourglass because you lost half a heart and then losing it anyway and still beating mom. good luck on keeping the streak, you're past the halfway point!

But the real MVP here was rotten tomato, I've learned that nearly all of moms projectiles will simply never leave her body because she's damaging herself when red. and when she does her inhale, the exhale can't come out, which negates a lot of her phase 2 patterns
Honestly the synergy is pretty solid, it's one that really requires you to turn your brain on for the entire run instead of just going on autopilot which is a problem a lot of people playing the game for awhile have. It clearly destroys all basic enemies and bosses, even Mother isn't standing up to it that much. It's just a matter of making the conscious decision of "I need to stop shooting now" so she doesn't get thrown into you during very specific attacks.
You prolly should've dropped Perfection first time Ocular Rift messed you up in the mom fight, would've made it less likely to happen and you didn't have any other luck based tear effects

In this case homing was better, because protopsis make the bullets to not disperse, so its usseles
nah piercing would have still been better
