I am also heartened by his measured approach to business strategy and his unceasing commitment to accepting input and cultivating a collaborative environment.
"They're playing dice with god next door." Tom actually said something very similar in Episode 1 of Season 2 as well. Roman is discussing with Logan whether to sell the company or not, and Tom, in the next room, says to Shiv: "You know, it's really happening in there. It's like playing fucking Gin Rummy with Zeus."
You're absolutely right that Gerri is the most subtle/scary person in Logan's executive circle, precisely because she plays her cards so close to her chest and is so good at adapting to changing circumstances in order to always be on the winning side of things that go down. I think that probably part of that comes down to the fact that she is the only woman in what we have repeatedly been shown is a DEEPLY sexist, conservative corporate culture at WayStar. A woman in that kind of environment probably has to be twice as effective, twice as ruthless, and twice as cunning as her male colleagues if she wants to have any shot of reaching the same level as them. It's worth noting that the only other woman in the company of remotely comparable rank, Karolina, is also very very good at her job and we pretty much never see her messing up or slacking off the way Karl and Frank sometimes do. The really interesting thing about all that is that Gerri's character was actually originally planned to be a guy - Gerry - but J. Smith-Cameron decided to send in an audition tape anyway, for the Hell of it, and she was so damn good that the showrunners decided to change the character in order to cast her.
Ouh i did not know Gerri was meant to be a man ! Im so glad they cast J Smith Cameron She adds so much more depth to the character just by being the only woman "suit" in that circle and she's just amazing in the role
To be fair it definitely took me a lot of time to realize she was there and learn her name. If anything that could be intentional to display the narcissism and ego among the main characters that only focus on themselves. If intentional, props to the show. If not… then both Blind Wave and I messed up 😭
On rewatch, I had only realized she was there the whole time. She really shines this season. Its like just noticing Bunny Colvin in season 2 of the Wire, only after having watched season 3.
Gerri is the smartest, most competent of all the senior execs. She is the only one that is brave enough to be real with Logan when needed. Shes been working in the company since before the kids where born and for a woman to reach such high position in Waystar, she probably showed some real talent, plus a cooler and patient temperament, to gain Logans trust for so long. She is the best player. She knows what battles to take and the ones to concede. Roman suggested her as CEO in season 1 when Logan was in the hospital and she refused because of the debt. It wasn't the time to take the leap but now, she wants it, we can see it when she says its her to Roman. Also, Gerri would be damn good at the job and Logan knows it. I think he even worries about the board liking her better than him as CEO. Season 3 is bomb. I think the only episode I didn't care much was episode 4. The rest, all bangers.
Kendall deciding to move his entire takeover operation (including Naomi, his new fling) into the apartment of his estranged wife and kids, instead of simply booking a hotel suite, and "subtly" trying to frame the entire thing as something he's doing for THEM in the hopes that Rava will somehow be impressed by all this poorly coordinated chaos is just... Ugh. So, so wrong. Oh Ken. He really is at his best and at his worst when things are going well for him.
Or doing this from any of the number of offices and buildings that he owns. Countless other places he could have set up shop. Suprised he didn't take over Greg's apartment.
@@John_Locke_108 Well, his argument for that, however paranoid or irrational it may be (or not honestly, given what we know about Logan) is that any buildings or offices Kendall already owns could somehow be compromised by Logan. But that’s still no excuse to not just temporarily rent some large office space with the mountain of money he’s sitting on.
Damn. I forgot how stressfull this season is. Every episode makes you feel absolutely uncomfortable and anxious. This show is the complete opposite of fun and that's why it's one of the greatest shows ever made.

I for one, am completely confident in Kendall’s ability to keep it together and am positive this mental state he’s in is perfectly stable 👍
Hey, he's the best guy in the world 🙂
😂😂
😂😂😂😂 Did Ken tell you to say that? Blink twice if you're okay, Greg
@@rmvdhaakwhat if he is, though??
I am also heartened by his measured approach to business strategy and his unceasing commitment to accepting input and cultivating a collaborative environment.
what a stable and reliable person ready to fight his dad to take the crown
To paraphrase my main man Kendall in an upcoming episode, 'all bangers all the time' from here on out.
😂😂😂. I'm thinking about the episode you referenced and I'm already laughing thinking about it.
"They're playing dice with god next door."

Team Ken! Yes we’re on top of the world! Let’s go
Can’t see this possibly go wrong 😊
That's our eldest boy!
Kendall is definitely getting his happy ending 😀
As good as the first two seasons are, I feel like 3 and 4 are where the show really hits its stride. Excited for this!
I agree. I see a lot of people saying 3 is the weakest but I think it’s the strongest. The second half specifically is peak TV.
@@yt.byliam First half of S1 is the weakest for me. Even though it's still absolutely top tier compared to other shows.
I just _knew_ Calvin would come around to liking Tom. Mission accomplished.😊

This role made me a J. Smith-Cameron Superfan! She is amazing in Succession and in everything I have seen her in since.
It's like when you break something beautiful, and it reminds you nothing lasts.
oh there’s a perfect Gerri quote coming up in a few episodes to support their thoughts about her
What was the quote? i cant think of it🤔
What’s the quote again?
Tom Gang rise up
"No WAY it'll be tom" dont worry Aaron. the more people doubt tom the stronger he gets.
You guys should take a bet or a vote on who you think will be the CEO at the end of the show.
I was thinking the same thing. But they need to do it now and once you decide, you can't change that vote no matter what happens.
@@John_Locke_108 they are already 3,4 episodes ahead in real time so they can do it before the season 3 finale.
Did you know Connor Roy was interested in politics at a very young age
4:13 Come on guys, that's Kendall's PA Jess, she's been in the show since the second episode of season 1.

pretty sure they know her and just didn't recognize her immediately. It just showed her from the back going in

I heard someone say that the only 2 smart characters on the show are Logan and Gerri and I couldn't agree more
I think Tom is smart, but in a different way. Tom is bad with words, but he has the best instincts.

Glad u three are really enjoying this amazing show.
