I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting Mel at a bar when I was vacationing in Malibu and he was a very down to earth guy and bought me a beer, this documentary also shows how down to earth and humorous the guy is and really what other actor would take the time to do this sort of thing and also include the entire cast and crew in on it? The best part was he actually remembered peoples names on the set instead of calling them what they did on it. It just seems like a lot of fun to do while also doing the film, and the fun spirit of it is great, and informative!
I mean when the video camera came out like the hand held ones everybody was filming. Yeah he said some shit when he was drunk but he seems like a good dude at heart. Most of the people who judged him have said similar things behind closed doors or to themselves. It’s awesome to see these though. Hollywood was so different.
@@David-bg3ct a beach bar called the blue Lounge, also saw Pierce Brosnan at the same bar the next night with his wife and one of his sons. I wanted to say hi as a big Bond fan but he had an entourage and security with him
The fact that they were shooting this literally alongside another Warner Bros classic “Christmas Vacation” was amazing. Think about the work that went into the set design and the crews that made that happen. They had to turn the Murtaughs house into “Todd and Margot’s” pretentious contemporary place. Then add all the snow to the entire neighborhood! Always these behind the scenes videos. What a shame we’ll never see another LW film after losing Richard Donner last year.

No one could have predicted that just five years later Mel would win an Oscar for Best Director & Best Picture. It all started with the quitter sketch. 🧦
I can't believe I found this absolute gem of a documentary. Showed a lot of the cast's personality and is a goal for film set environments. Mel and Danny were frickin awesome in the movie together, but I absolutely loved seeing them as goofballs in this. Gibson also showed off a little of his directing skills in this with some of the skits. Then when Danny Glover came out and started break dancing after they were referring to him as a wild partier, my eyes almost popped out of my head. Really funny
Mel is the reason we now have Ryan Reynolds on RUclips. If you notice the credits you can see the influence on Ryan Reynolds Deadpool films opening credits. Mel was the original Vlogger, back nobody was doing in those days. He also rocks an awesome mullet.
I remembered watching this and recording it off of HBO after the movie itself. Mel Gibson was an absolute genius putting this video documentary together. This was hilarious! Thanks for sharing this!
Oh my goodness, I've been searching for this for a while!! I recall seeing this on HBO I believe and I laughed at multiple spots! It showed a different side of Mel as I was use to watching him play Mad Max. Lol
Thank you for sharing this! I watched on HBO when it aired. What brought me here was that I remembered the adorable Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman) had a cameo.
Omg, I can't believe i found this one. All i could remember was it was the making of some movie with Mel Gibson, behind the scenes, and he was upset about a sock calling it a quitter. I thought about this for years, and stumbled on it today. I was 9 years old when I first saw this, and oh my goodness, the memories.
Mel was hilarious. My buddy was working on a sitcom at Sony Studios around this time and Mel randomly snuck on set to play a practical joke on the cast.
I am so glad I saw this. Mel got screwed by people he genuinely cared for. To all the haters things you say drunk should not destroy your life. But it is our crybaby culture now that made us all lose out on all the great movie and TV he could have made
It’s crazy that he lost his Australian accent! These days. Mel is one of the best actors and directors in the game I hope I get the chance to work with him.
Dude who played Joshua he actually looked like he could be connected, this was the best movie even in 21 I have not seen a movie with soo much passion!!!!
I remember laughing my ass off as a kid at this. when lethal weapon 3 was announced I prayed they’d do another one and they did. I still refer to old socks as ‘quitters’
if all the sequels to die hard had been directed by the same director, produced by the same producer, written by the same writers and with almost the same cast as the original, it would surely have been a lethal weapon, but unfortunately it did not happen
@@AndrewPatrickRalston No need. Great video. Mel definitely had direction in his future. I believe creator Shane Black wanted the series to end with #2 and Riggs dying at the end on the ship. Donner had other ideas.
