    I'm going back and rewatching reviews of products I know have and honestly I don't get why the Phoenix still gets hate. 9 times put of 10 I choose it over my lotus+ or lotus 2. My only complaint is one I have with any HMD and that's cleaning it but I, like many others, found a way around it and that by using it with foil. I still like to show off my bowl so I trace the Phoenix on foil, cut out the perfect circle, slap it on the bottom and poke a hole right through the chimney. I got the redesigned lid where the Phoenix is fully cut in the design and have never had the problem of it getting stuck from the metal expanding from the heat and although a handle would be nice it's not a deal breaker. On another note since the air vent is centered and not on the edges like those other HMDs you compared it with I use it with smaller bowls and don't have to worry about the airflow being blocked by the vents sitting on the rim of smaller bowls.

    Everyone I've seen talks about packing is very picky but doesn't go into what works. Any chance of a vid going into detail on making it rip? I'm kinda struggling with it myself

    Interesting. I was reluctant to preorder this a few months ago because of the lid and the amount of coals needed to get it to smoke efficiently (I'm one of those old-fashioned less is more types when it comes to coals and HMD's). I might have to pick up the updated version off of the strength of your recommendation. I look forward to seeing how it performs against the Provost.

      James Holiday I do think the provost is more efficient with only need 2 cubes but the smoking experience is different. The provost smoke is more similar to using foil but with the ease of an HMd. The Phoenix HMd is a cleaner smoke but yes it does use one more coal. (Needs more tobacco) and 4 coals with less tobacco.
      I prefer the provost with small bowls like the 80ft 80 or alpaca suri bowl and the Phoenix HMd for larger bowl like the goodfella or harmony.
      I think the improvement to the lid is a necessary improvement and I think it will help use less heat more efficiently.

      Artin Isagulyan I probably won’t be picking one up but I know a few people who have one and it looks amazing. I don’t use my regal enough to buy a new tray for it. Maybe reach out to Derek Moses on IG. I’m sure he would be happy to shoot you a quick video.

    @StrictlyShisha Wow at 3:05 those HMDs can use a cleaning. Try running them under hot water, throw them in individual plastic bags, and let them sit for a bit. Mine come out looking brand new afterwards. I have the steps outlined in my highlighted story on instagram @hookahlex

    In my opinion, it will not be 6061 aluminum because it melts at 580°C and the coal has a temperature of approximately 450 to 550°C. Even if the coal is kept at a lower temperature of 450°C, aluminum alloy substances are released and the smoker then breathes them into the lungs. This then means that it is not the 6061 alloy, but the imitation of this alloy - it must withstand a temperature of at least 800-1000°C for safety. The melting point of pure aluminum is 660°C. Aluminum 6061 is not at all high quality, but on the contrary, it is one of the cheapest and most used alloys.

      What alloy would u suggest for cnc machining of such device as hmd

    Great review but you could have just said Phoenix is straight garbage. I absolutely hate it, plus you have to pack super high!!!! The top her stuck and way over priced. I actually been using the stratus Hmd as my go too and it’s perfect

      Johnnie Cade maybe I need to check out the status if you recommend it. I would say give the Phoenix another chance. After I figured out the pack (lower than I pack for the lotus) it smokes like a champ. I do agree that the lid is useless and I would not recommend using it in its current design. I think that is something that that should have noticed prior to release and maybe I should have noted that in the review.

      StrictlyShisha i don’t know bro wade on the hookah helped me out a lot with it cause at first i
      Couldn’t get it to smoke. I got so mad about wasting coals and resetting my sessions i quit Lol. I put the top on with four coals and couldn’t get it off, did that a couple times. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. Started looking at reviews of everybody else’s and it was the same generic problem across the board

      Matt is a great reviewer. And he did have a different perspective. Always good to hear different point of views and mine is just my opinion based of my experience. I watch his stuff to learn stuff too.

    I purchased this HMD and do NOT recommend it. I've tried packing several different bowls and could not get much smoke out of it so I went back to using coals on foil.

      William Chang thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback. I encourage this. Have you tried packing higher? Like right to the rim? My first bowl ever with this I packed too low and it didn’t work.

    • @mrwilliamwchang
      @mrwilliamwchang 5 лет назад

      @@StrictlyShisha Yes, in fact, that is exactly what I did on my second failed attempt after having watched your video. I threw up to 4 HJ cubettes on it. Do you think only cubes will work?

    • @StrictlyShisha
      @StrictlyShisha  5 лет назад

      4 cubetts with the lid should work...but I have the best luck with 4 cubes and then drop or prop one once it’s heated. It’s a higher quality material than most HMDs so it requires more heat.
      I do think this particular unit took me a few attempts to get it right but once it does it should rip.
      When you are in the mood maybe try it again and literally pack to the rim so that it’s touching the unit completely and throw a bunch of heat at it.
      Either way I appreciate you watching and cheers
