Everyone's a genius Brushing up on irony But no, no ones free Everyone's a salesman Gushing with sincerity Or so, so it seems I wanna go another round I wanna throw the monster down I wanna go another round 'Cause I am coming up I am coming back Everyone's a rock star Look how cool and dark you are Oh whats to come Of me now Bust out the mission Well, bust a hole and you'll be free Okay, then we'll be free I wanna go another round I wanna throw the monster down I wanna go another round 'Cause I am coming up I am coming back Lay me on the table Operate on me Spin me like a record Scratch the needle Back and forth I wanna go another round I wanna throw the monster down I wanna go another round I wanna throw the monster down I wanna go another round 'Cause I am coming up I am coming back I am coming up I am coming back
I was pissed when they canceled it and brought Punk'd out instead. In retrospect, though, at least they still had music videos. Insomniac Music Theater backed pretty much all of my weekend nights. ...so this band (and the show, too) is a nostalgia trip. Feeling old yet?
Wow it makes you wonder why practically no one knows them. With music like this I would have promoted this if I ever had the chance to, but I missed out because I never was old enough when this band was making these songs
Happy to find Abandoned Pools. I must also say that I was shown this by the algorithm (praise thee). My musical exploration journey has taken me very far.
Here we go, so I this this song explores themes of identity, societal expectations, and personal struggles. The opening lines, "Everyone's a genius / Brushing up on irony / But no, no ones free," suggest a sense of disillusionment with society's emphasis on intelligence and wit, implying that despite everyone's efforts to appear clever, true freedom is elusive. I think this could be interpreted as a commentary on the superficiality of intellectual pursuits and the limitations they place on individual freedom. The mention of everyone being a salesman "Gushing with sincerity" highlights the prevalence of insincerity and manipulation in interpersonal interactions. This could reflect a critique of the facade people often put up to appear genuine, masking their true intentions and feelings. The desire to "blow the monster down" and the repeated refrain of wanting to "go another round" indicates a longing for confrontation and overcoming personal demons or societal pressures. The repetition of these lines throughout the song emphasizes a sense of determination and resilience in the face of challenges. The reference to being a "rock star" and questioning "what's become of me now?" suggests a struggle with identity and self-image, perhaps feeling lost or disconnected from one's authentic self amidst societal expectations and pressures to conform. The lines "Lay me on the table operate on me / Spin me like a record, scratch the needle back and forth" evoke imagery of being dissected and manipulated, possibly reflecting feelings of vulnerability and being at the mercy of external forces. Overall, I think the song explores themes of authenticity, societal conformity, and the struggle for personal liberation amidst external pressures. The lyrics convey a sense of defiance and determination to break free from constraints and reclaim one's identity.
After 1:21 there are these faint glitching sounds. I thought my CD was faulty. But no... There here in this. So I guess it's intentional? Weird... Well, glad that those sounds are a part of the song and not due to a bad copy. I was starting to get kind of upset about that. But never mind. I guess it was intended.
@@_MegaMind_ Yeah, I don't mind it now, I can look past it. I honestly do still think it was a glitch in the mixing or mastering though. It is very slight, and doesn't really affect the song. So, yeah... It's okay. I would like a remaster though. But I doubt that will happen. This band is largely forgotten and the CDs are out of print, I had to get one second hand.
@@_MegaMind_ Interesting, It really seems unintended to me. Also yeah, this entire album is amazing. It is so good, and has an air of nostalgia about it. I love every track. I've listened to the album well over 15 times in the half a year or so I've had the CD.
Both Clone High and Abandoned Pools are criminally underrated in their time!
Especially Abandoned Pools :c
tragically underrated artist
I forgot just how good every track on this album is wtf. Plus the writing is even better than i remember
probably the best song on this album
Elucidator their best song period
Everyone's a genius
Brushing up on irony
But no, no ones free
Everyone's a salesman
Gushing with sincerity
Or so, so it seems
I wanna go another round
I wanna throw the monster down
I wanna go another round
'Cause I am coming up
I am coming back
Everyone's a rock star
Look how cool and dark you are
Oh whats to come
Of me now
Bust out the mission
Well, bust a hole and you'll be free
Okay, then we'll be free
I wanna go another round
I wanna throw the monster down
I wanna go another round
'Cause I am coming up
I am coming back
Lay me on the table
Operate on me
Spin me like a record
Scratch the needle
Back and forth
I wanna go another round
I wanna throw the monster down
I wanna go another round
I wanna throw the monster down
I wanna go another round
'Cause I am coming up
I am coming back
I am coming up
I am coming back
Clone high brought me here

Fun fact: you can do it now
I think the dude is asking for donations on GoFundMe or something like that for a new album
The humanistic album isn't on Spotify for whatever reason, that's a factor imo

Have you changed your perspective of that sound in the song? It goes well here

@@Group-935 ha, I've become a crackhead to some of the songs as well. They're good to sleep to as well, because they aren't hard rock
