I went with the iPad mini 6 because I loved the small and powerful form factor. The mini is something you have to realize you need. It’s the same feeling you’ll get when choosing between an iPad Pro 11 and a 12.9. Bought the iPad 9 yesterday, one thing interesting for gamers: it didn't dim the brightness while playing PubG Mobile (without connected charger). On my Air 3, the 6th gen iPad and my iPhone 12 it always dimmed after a while due to iOS heat management. Haven't tried it while charging yet.
I keep jumping between these two and ipad air.... and I've been leaning towards the air.... plan on getting the pencil, drawing a lot, maybe gaming, and a lot of watching movies. I also want something I can take a picture with and draw over it sketching out ideas to express my creativity better at work for sharing ideas.
I got my iPad 9 yesterday and I’m in love. This is my first iPad ever and I went back and forth of what iPad to get and I ultimately decided on the 9. I’m glad I did because it’s perfect for my use cases and the more expensive ones were overkill for me. The mini was just too small for what I wanted out of a tablet.
The mini is basically so you can use the second gen pencil on the go as an compliment to your job, eg pilot, engineer? Etc, also extremely portable so more of a companion all day where as other ipads will be used at home or on a stand.
Ipad mini is definitely for portability. I need to bring my work everywhere and the size of the ipad mini fits my purse. I can’t go back to the regular sized iPad,; I have my mac air to do the rest of my office reqmts.
I love my new mini. Like obsessed honestly. I rarely use my iphone at home anymore. I specifically got it to use as a "kindle" and take with me in settings where my 12.9 pro can't come. I use my 12.9 pro for lecture notes and hw. I actually bought the ipad air and returned it because it wasn't small enough.
My reasons for getting an iPad 9 in 2023 does reveal my age a bit…being semi-retired I could afford the 256GB model, meaning I could finally copy over my complete iTunes music library, something I was unable to do on the 32/64GB iPhones I’ve been using in recent years (guess it also means I’m a bit of a cheapskate…). I also like having the option for wired audio, and I needed the packed in charger to use with my iPhone 12 Mini, which is still rocking a Lightning-port like the iPad…so there you go!
2 years later, I’m asking the same question (iPad 10th gen is not even a consideration for the price and lack of upgrades). I bought a mini 6. As much as I like it, I’m just not in love with it. It’s convenient, it’s powerful, it’s more future-proof than the iPad 9. But it just doesn’t suit my needs at the price tag. I never thought I’d have buyer’s remorse for such a wonderful product. Switching to a iPad 9. And happy with the Apple pencil 1, plethora of large size keyboard cases, audio Jack (can listen to headphones while charging simultaneously), bigger screen, etc. just fit my personal needs better. In 2024…I’m sure I’ll get 2 years out of the 3gb Ram and A13 processor with the resource hogging and slowness each iOS update introduces. But when it’s on sale, it makes it easier to swallow than a 6 mini (still an awesome machine). Buy the product you *need* not the product you think you need to get because it’s a better value.
Since you are a camera fan, I imagine you use editing apps like Lightroom and Photoshop. Do you think either the iPad mini 6 or the iPad 9 would be able to handle it?

I think the iPad 9th gen. is a better deal for the money. But I have been using a 6th gen. iPad with Apple Pencil for my hobby art needs since 2018 when I bought it new. I want to upgrade to a more powerful iPad. The iPad Air 4th gen. and iPad Pro's are too expensive for me. So I find the 6th gen. iPad mini the sweet spot. I am confident I can draw on the iPad mini just as good as my 6th gen. iPad as I've researched videos on RUclips.
I currently have an iPad 6th gen with cellular. I think I’ll want to get the iPad mini cellular. I like the smaller form factor and the 4gb of ram. It also has Bluetooth audio 5.0. I want to be able to pair multiple Bluetooth speakers for dual audio.
I'm here becasue I cannot decide between 9 and mini. When I hear the connector usb-c vs. lightning, yeah, i should take that into consider too. I wish basic iPad is in usb-c too. Looks like I'm getting based model pro instead 🤣if I'm after the usb-c connector. Their price are close to each model.

I'm so confused right now over which ipad to buy because the comment section is filled with praises for the iPads and this makes it harder for me to pick😭😹💔 I want a big screen for digital art and becuase it's convenient but then I want a smaller iPad which can fit everywhere and I can play on it comfortably
The only thing the iPad 9 has over the mini is display size and that’s if you see that as a negative. Personally I think the size on the mini is great, not big like a 10.9 and bigger than the iPhone pro max. For that’s what I’m looking foe
I have an old iPad Mini 1st gen that nothing works on it and I wanted to get an iPad like that one, but new, I'm still not sure I'll buy an iPad Mini 6th gen, but I would like to since I liked the portable factor of the iPad Mini.
I also have a first gen iPad mini (white 64 gb) that is still useful. Netflix still works, Amazon Prime Video, RUclips (app does not work) through website still works and you can log in to see your account preferences, and I also use it as a music streamer to my stereo system. HEOS, BluOS, and RUclips Music apps are still supported. It is slow, but still usable and strangely, the battery still lasts a long time. I have an iPad mini 4 (128gb) as well and actually use the 1st gen iPad mini more often because I'm not afraid to break it. Haha! My recommendation is to go with the iPad Mini 6. The build quality is MUCH better than the iPad 9. You get two generations newer processor (A15 vs. A13) which means 2 more years of support on the Mini 6, more RAM on the mini 6 (4 vs. 3), the laminated display, much better cameras, etc. It's not more expensive when you consider it will likely get 2 more years of Apple support. Good luck!
I’m getting the iPad mine 6 for Christmas. I was researching it for a while and didn’t want to go over a 700$ limit, so I’m getting space grey 256 GB/wifi
Love your videos. I haven’t bought an iPad in years. I have an iPad mini 4 which I still use but vertical lines have started to appear on the screen so now I want to buy a new iPad. Apart from being on a tight budget, I also think I’d like to try a bigger display. Do you think I’d find the display on the IPad 9 just as good as the iPad mini 4 or better? Thanks.
I was eager to get the mini but after knowing the jello screen problem, nah.. Don't wanna spend money on defected product. Guess I'll just wait for the next gen of mini.
I have a very important question in terms of its portability. Because it’s risky to keep an iPad in my bag! Is it possible to keep the iPad mini 6 in the pocket?
I draw on a graphic tablet, which is not portable, so I am thinking about taking the iPad Mini 6 for the portability when i can't draw on my graphic tablet ,and for the laminated display and the new design and the fact that this tablet support apple pencil 2.
Thanks for the honest opinion! I've got an iPad 7 and even then it doesn't feel that much of an upgrade. Perhaps I'll hang on for the next update... PS. Could you share your where you got your nice wallpapers? Loving the one on your iPad at 0:22 ! Thanks!
I will buy the mini. I have had the iPad 4 and mini4 and the 2018 model( don’t know what gen it is) and my favorite is still the mini. The pro models is way overkill for my needs
Did you find that the tablet brightness was unusually low? My iPad mini 6 brightness feels very low. I’m not sure how to test nits. Maybe I’m just used to iPhone 13 800 nits. But I compared it to the cheapest iPad and they’re supposed to have same 500 nits but it still looks less bright (despite tweaking the display settings). Wanted to see your impressions before I called apple care.
thing is, i broke my 9s display, by dropping a heavy object on it. got it repaired but looks nothing like before, apple pencil doesn’t get recognised on certain areas. Repairing of display plus glas and touchscreen would cost as much as a completely new device. now here’s the thing, i’m not willing to buy a new ipad 9, i’m sick of Lightning. Ipad 10 is probably the worst ipad to get and all the other options are to expensive. don’t know what to do
Hi I have budget for only ipad 9 64 gb right now as I plan to purchase macbook air by 2023 1. Will 64 gb be enough for me , I do video edits and music softwares , How soon do you think I will have to transfer the files to external SSD 2. Can it replace laptop ? Are lumfusion and GarageBand kind of apps good enough ? Right now I have an macmini based system and need something mobile
Ok this might be a weird question but can a iPad Mini replace an iPhone and it also does more than a iPhone so can it potentially replace a iPhone? (This is not an important question so umm no one has to answer to it but an answer would be appreciated plz 😐)
I love my mini 5 size for comfortable browsing in bed Who knows, I may upgrade at some point Zoom type calls are becoming much more frequent… so “Center stage” is a useful upgrade
IMO there hasn't been a good Android tablet since the nexus lineup and since my nexus passed away (EOL) I haven't really used a tablet since then I think iPad Mini fits for me
Hi, I just wanted to know which device is better for playing brawl stars bcoz the mini 6 have a better chip but the ipad 9 has a bigger screen. Pls tell me which 1 is better for this game since I play at a competitive level.
Hey guys, is anyone experiencing problems using the main keyboard? Mine was fine at first but then it suddenly had space beneath it whenever I tried using the keyboard.
I know that this is an old video but really what is best for well gaming because am between like the iPad 8th generation or iPad mini 6 or the iPad Pro which one would be a good subjest to buy and ones the three iPads have iOS 16 too or some of them will be not updated anymore
There are full sized USB keyboards that either rollup or fold up to fit in a pocket. Those would require a USB hub, the same one you mentioned for attaching headphones, leaving the Mini 6 as the better option. Bluetooth is slow, and usually can have only one device paired at a time. The important question to ask with a keyboard is whether 'you' want it attached to the tablet, or not. Keyboards attached with hinges of one sort or another make it easier for lap/uneven surfaces use. Not being attached gives more flexibility with style and layout. The mouse is obsolete because it is 2D. Styluses are 3D. Basically, why have a mouse when a pencil will do the same job better, albeit at greater cost. Of course, if a person is that budget conscious they probably shouldn't be buying a premium tablet.
Apple devices can easily pair with several Bluetooth devices without issue, including iPads. When my laptop was broken, I would use my iPad Air 4 for schoolwork and would have it paired with the Apple Pencil, a Bluetooth mechanical keyboard, Bluetooth mouse, and Bluetooth headphones at the same time with no issues.
Yeah, you can easily use a Bluetooth soundbar, Bluetooth keyboard AND Bluetooth mouse with absolutely no issues with an Apple device. And honestly keyboard and mouse with an external display is far superior for most office work. Try typing an essay or using massive databases or spreadsheets with a stylus? No. They both have their use case, but keyboard and mouse and external display is objectively the best choice for a temporary desktop replacement for traveling without a laptop or for working away from home. And any iPad or iPhone can become a temporary desktop computer on the go with Bluetooth speakers, keyboard and mouse. A stylus is obviously best for hand written notes or drawing. But for fast and ergonomic data entry, typing papers or doing long form office or school work? The keyboard and mouse and Bluetooth speakers make any iPad a full fledged desktop solution, especially with an external display.
@@ghost-user559 I would still warn against using an iPad for office work or assignments just because the multitasking element isn’t quite as intuitive for that purpose. It’s absolutely doable, but anything involving more than one app can be a bit of an inconvenience in my experience. Especially maintaining works cited because I usually do two separate documents for that purpose and add them together during the final draft but that’s just me.
@@basedanddadpilled959 Yeah that’s definitely true for that workflow especially. I did it with the iPad Air 2 before any multitasking was even available and it was a lot of copy paste, home button, and then pasting the bibliographic information into an ongoing notes document which synced between MacBook Pro, IPhone, and IPad. So for me the iPad was the “typewriter” and mobile device, and my desktop was my MacBook docked to a monitor. That way the iPhone and IPad could both be used to gather sources and read PDFs and other research and the final “compile” into a proper document was done in Pages on the large monitor through the MacBook, although I also sometimes used Pages and synced all three devices for certain things as well. Honestly I did major research and work between pulling up research on the iPhone and typing that reference up on the iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard, and all the bits and pieces came together flawlessly because it all synced with the MacBook. By the time I sat at my “desktop” most of the work was already done, and it was just formatting and final touches. I could have done the whole thing with just Pages and notes on the iPad and using the iPhone docked to a display with hdmi for references and citations. But I would always obviously recommend all three for the most productive workflow.
@@ghost-user559 That seems like a hell of an entanglement for writing a paper lol. I was having trouble writing papers on an Air 4, couldn't imagine doing it on an Air 2. iPad, MacBook, iPhone combo is fantastic for productivity though. My iPhone is basically my mobile router and my iPad is my notebook with the added benefit of being a second display. Universal control has definitely been a welcome upgrade. As a sidenote, I still highly recommend the Air 4 and doubt I'll be upgrading it for a few more generations at least. As a MacBook companion, it is perfect for nearly any use and most casual users could probably get away with just an Air 4 and a keyboard case as their main setup.
In the Philippines the ipad mini 6 64GB is around 479 USD I went for an ipad 9 because I found someone selling it for 479 USD 256GB and with the official apple keyboard as a set.

I'm so confused right now over which ipad to buy because the comment section is filled with praises for the iPads and this makes it harder for me to pick😭😹💔
I want a big screen for digital art and becuase it's convenient but then I want a smaller iPad which can fit everywhere and I can play on it comfortably
Your video is very well narated. Easy to make decision. Very appropriate and honest review.
I have an i pad pro 11 & an i pad mini 5 i use them all the time & the mini is an amazing little device.
Thanks Segi for this great review.
Thank you Jay! (Sagi)
mini6, i'm willing to spend more money for an oled display(for 0 level black) with pro motion function(for battery sake)
otherwise, perfect 👌
Its deffnitely not perfect, as with the 2018 pros they werent perfect but much better than the mini especially since there was only 2 pros before it.
english is not my main language but i really understand well about how you described the ipads! thank you so much now i know which one to buy:)
I’m so glad the video was helpful. Thank you for being part of the channel!
Thank you sooo much for this video, I now know which iPad to get😁😁
Glad I could help! Thank you for watching!
@@TechGearTalk No problem, I always watch your videos.😁😁
@koysor judging off price and performance the iPad 9th gen.
It’s not too expensive
@koysor the mini 6 is better but the 9th gen definitely up there, the chip set for it is the same as the iPhone 11 pro max.
I'm happy with my ipad 8 128gb version. I'll upgrade 2023 maybe
RUclips kinda sus. My friend and I were just talking about the pros and cons for these devices because I was planning on buying one. Thanks btw
I work as a digital marketer, I do a lot of content - I use the most Google Ads, analytics, Facebook ads manager. Which ones would you recommend?
Love your videos. I haven’t bought an iPad in years. I have an iPad mini 4 which I still use but vertical lines have started to appear on the screen so now I want to buy a new iPad. Apart from being on a tight budget, I also think I’d like to try a bigger display. Do you think I’d find the display on the IPad 9 just as good as the iPad mini 4 or better? Thanks.
I was eager to get the mini but after knowing the jello screen problem, nah.. Don't wanna spend money on defected product. Guess I'll just wait for the next gen of mini.
im more for the ipad 9 but i like the mini too its so hard to chose witch one is best
Great video as always! Not to mention the nice presentation
I have a very important question in terms of its portability. Because it’s risky to keep an iPad in my bag! Is it possible to keep the iPad mini 6 in the pocket?
Big pocket? Then yeah
I draw on a graphic tablet, which is not portable, so I am thinking about taking the iPad Mini 6 for the portability when i can't draw on my graphic tablet ,and for the laminated display and the new design and the fact that this tablet support apple pencil 2.
I'll probably get an iPad 9 with an Apple Pencil 1st gen. Also iPad 9 I believe does not have the jelly scroll effect.
Thanks for the honest opinion! I've got an iPad 7 and even then it doesn't feel that much of an upgrade. Perhaps I'll hang on for the next update... PS. Could you share your where you got your nice wallpapers? Loving the one on your iPad at 0:22 ! Thanks!
I appreciate you watching. That wallpaper at 00:22 is a MacOS wallapaper! Hope that helps.
I will buy the mini. I have had the iPad 4 and mini4 and the 2018 model( don’t know what gen it is) and my favorite is still the mini.
The pro models is way overkill for my needs
Returned the Mini 6 due to the jelly scrolling. It's way too distracting to me, personally.
practical tips, planning for ipad mini... thank you :)
9th gen was the last one with a aux port it’s a no brainer
Is the minimal upgrade on iPad 9 to hold cost down? I am surprise Apple is keeping the 1st generation Pencil around.
It's really stupid to not include GPS in Wi-Fi only models. I may not need Cellular, but still navigation and position capability
Try watching a 16:9 movie on the 6. I imagine the picture is the size of a postage stamp.
Great review, but I don’t see the links to the keyboard for the iPad 9. Can you share thanks.
Imagine when mini 6 parts are inside 9th gen and giving a boost performances 🙂
thing is, i broke my 9s display, by dropping a heavy object on it. got it repaired but looks nothing like before, apple pencil doesn’t get recognised on certain areas. Repairing of display plus glas and touchscreen would cost as much as a completely new device. now here’s the thing, i’m not willing to buy a new ipad 9, i’m sick of Lightning. Ipad 10 is probably the worst ipad to get and all the other options are to expensive. don’t know what to do
Happy with iPad Air 4.
Still happy with my iPad Air first Gen
Because the Air 4 is AMAZING!
I was watching this on my iPad mini 6
Hi I have budget for only ipad 9 64 gb right now as I plan to purchase macbook air by 2023
1. Will 64 gb be enough for me , I do video edits and music softwares
, How soon do you think I will have to transfer the files to external SSD
2. Can it replace laptop ? Are lumfusion and GarageBand kind of apps good enough ?
Right now I have an macmini based system and need something mobile
Hello I'm from Brazil and I need one iPad very good for gaming but not expansive too much
Hello, What is the best iPad for video editing?
Ok this might be a weird question but can a iPad Mini replace an iPhone and it also does more than a iPhone so can it potentially replace a iPhone? (This is not an important question so umm no one has to answer to it but an answer would be appreciated plz 😐)
Watching this on my all new IPad 9th!!!
I chose the Mini 6 and I'm very happy with it.
there is some static or hiss in the background while you are talking? or are my speakers going
I love my mini 5 size for comfortable browsing in bed
Who knows, I may upgrade at some point
Zoom type calls are becoming much more frequent… so “Center stage” is a useful upgrade
10:54 I I usually use my AirPods Pro so I guess that’s a Wireless headset.
Getting the mini tomorrow!
Can iPad 9 connect to 5G WiFi?
I wanted an iPad for procreate, so I bought the 9 because it is bigger and cheaper.
I like your t-shirts. Where are they from?
IMO there hasn't been a good Android tablet since the nexus lineup and since my nexus passed away (EOL) I haven't really used a tablet since then I think iPad Mini fits for me
Quick question what game were you playing at 10 minutes in the video
@Danielle Jones thank you looks fun!
I’ll go with the mini the iPad 9 is just big and the mini is just perfect for my needs
What your thoughts on iPad air 64 GB Vs iPad 9 256gb
What was that green paper that he used to look under the iPad??
Same brightness and pixels per inch then?
What about for a spin bike doing classes ipad 9 or mini 6?
... I want an iPad mini to replace all my school stuff...
Bigger is better. I'll get a phone if I want smaller
Hey, can you recommend any Bluetooth ipad 9 keyboards :) 😃 English UK
In the Philippines the ipad mini 6 64GB is around 479 USD I went for an ipad 9 because I found someone selling it for 479 USD 256GB and with the official apple keyboard as a set.
Thx 👍
when is your ipad 9th gen battery test video coming out?
Wifi or cellular model?
The ipad 9 64 gb is the best value!
Watching this on my iPad Air 3
I use wired earphones instead of wireless or speakers.
you look like Ross from the show Friends
WE WERE ON A BREAK!!! 🤣😂 Thanks for watching.
I'm nine and the iPad mini 6 fits my hand size
What is the IPad 9?
