- Imagine being on a 737 plane, 24,000 above the Pacific with no walls or roof, around you, just the floor. That’s the terrifying reality that the passengers of Aloha 243 were faced with on April 28, 1988.

If you’re cracking a joke about this, you need help. If you were on this flight being 30 plus thousand feet in the air and suddenly see the roof the plane break off, you would’ve been frightened big time.
So why crack a joke about this?
It’s a good sign when they start interviewing survivors
Bjll
I remember this on the evening news. The pictures and story were shocking.
The horror the passengers and flight attendants endured is just chilling enough. I don’t think I’d be alive if the plane’s roof broke off after being 30 plus thousand feet in the sky. I think I’d be dead from extreme fright
Imagine enjoying your trip to a nice island in Hawaii and then your plane roof is gone 💀
And all your stuff is gone
I can imagine how terrifying that’s gotta be.
Kid
Sweet, it's a convertible! 😎
Not funny
Very good job indeed fellows!! Everyone on board survied except one flight attendant.🥇📖🇺🇸
Feel bad for that one singular person who died
The single flight attendent was actually the chief flight attendent
Horribly tragic 😥😥😥😥
Clarabelle Lansing wasnt it?
The great old 80s a lot of cool remarkable things happened in that decade.
Imagine enjoying your trip to a beach and your plane roof is gone
Terrifying as fuck
No way
Luckily they were able to land safetly
Everyone on board survied except one flight attendant
Yeah C.B Lansing r.i.p😭
The one lying on the ground?
@@Flowermanic no one was sucked out.
@@hivram one stewardess was sucked out, and they never found her body.
@@noahtek1101 Awful.
Maybe she died from a plunge into the sea. Possibly explains why her body has never been recovered
Why do I watch these? I’m petrified of airplanes, I trembled with my head down the whole flight from NY to TX. What’s wrong with me?
I don't know, but the same thing is wrong with me!!
737 Boeing just crash in China right now
same here lol we have issues
Idk but I’m right there with you.
Well if you don't like airplane rides I'm sure you don't like roller coasters at amusement parks too lol
When the newspaper hit the guy's face 😅🥴🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know this is really crazy experience but the acting is something else😂
They made this filming so people can understand what happened, not that the movie filming is the real plane
@@Legend_Evve Oh of course. 👍🏻
The CGI and acting are remarkable man
Love the content
Imagine watching this all over again
The acting was hilarious
Forreaaal man, died laughing from 1:30
Smithsonian channel is op .♥️

i cant belive smithsonion channel is still posting :)
Enjoy your flight in the new edition convertible plane!
keep it up
A friend of mine had a dream about this before it happened.
Dreams are fascinating
You serious?
@islanders13fan42 I believe it. On the same day Kobe Bryant died (before it happened), I had a dream that a helicopter crashed near my house. It was the first time I'd ever, in my life, had a dream where a helicopter crashed.
I had a family friend on this flight.
what happened to fuselage broken aloha 243 and 113 passengers and 4 member of dead
There not dead only 1 is dead
There was some advanced metal fatigue along the fusalage that went undetected, which formed due to a combination of the high flight cycles of the plane and the humidity of Hawaii. While the plane had tear strips to prevent catastrophic cabin pressure loss, the cracks probably joined up and tore the roof off.
While all the passengers survived, the main Flight Attendant, Clarabelle Lansing, was sadly sucked out of the plane during the depressurization. Her body was never found.
all passengers:AAAAAAHHHHHH!
that passenger:wow I got to fly on a convertible
Wow❤
April 28th 1988 Aloha Airlines Flight 243
New model of the 737?
1 died
This was the 80’s
Clarkson! Where is my roof?
pls do the china eastern airlines flight 5735 next
The crash is still under investigation. I doubt we'd get anything conclusive or an accident report for anywhere between several months to over a year.
An airplane turned into convertible.
In midair 😮
I saw this from Mayday video... turns out even the narration also are the same
Yeah I just saw it today
Hey, planes gotta get haircuts too
Rest in peace C.B Lansing
This episode released in March 2022 looks like something for 2004
This episode came out on September 14, 2005
@@sunnyfon9065 oh okay. Well, I haven’t watched it on TV because I don’t have Paramount+, so I don’t really know when it was released. Thanks for the mention though.
oops, you forgot to upload the rest of the video.
dont worry they just needed a little fresh air
I respekt them ♥️
Cause: Explosive decompression caused by metal fatigue and maintenance error
Hope they were ok
There is only 1 person that died
So sad
People at the back: 👍
People at the front:💀
Kinda like a sightseeing bus x b737
POV: you’re a Karen and you need some “fresh air”
This was inspired from the movie Miracle Landing
That can not be true
It actually happened. Look it up.
In here after hearing Alaska Airlines Boeing plane having depressurization.
That red head is one gorgeous creature. 😍
Now that’s what I call a convertible
this plane is in microsoft flight sim
Pull up pull up
Convertible airplane 😬
a very disappointing video by Smithsonoian’s. ☹️☹️☹️
The first thing one would do, when the roof of a plane gone missing, is bend down, and hide the face by taking bracing position. Not hold it out to skin-ripping cold wind…..
The cameraman:😐🎥
I love you
Concorde rfs
This video looks like Wonder videos
Lmao, Wonder licenses old Smithsonian Channel shows like Air Disasters.
Soooooo is no one going to mention the terrible acting?
Damn the green screen is awful
The acting too

What a waste of time watching this video, if anyone reads this message before don’t watch it, you don’t see what happened it ends half way through a story
Boeing....
expect that from an old airliner. 1960s 732 is dangerous but still flying today
