If you want to be good at lying in dnd go for a bard and have the character be a prick. Bards have super high charisma which means really good deception roles if set up right and they don't normally have the stigma of being untrustworthy that rogue has. Thought I might suggest this as an alternative but regardless have fun with the game when you get to it
