I'm am a 74yrs man who wanted to change my sex and I started taking female hormones, then I started wearing make-up and women's clothing and shoes.
I went to Claire's and got my ears pierced fives times.
And NOW I am living full time as a woman and most people. Who knew me before said that they liked the person, that I have became.
They all said that they wished that I would have done this sooner!!!

Yes, I also wished that I would have done this a lot sooner, OK? I must admit it, I really love who I am NOW and I hope that someone will ask me out on a date sometime...

I understand Colleen’s mother being concerned about the future, but when she said that her life was going to change. It’s not about her, it’s all about Colleen. Her life is going to change, this change is not about her it’s more important that she be concerned about Colleen’s life and safety. Don’t get me wrong, I loved this story. It’s just like that in real life, the people around the one that’s transitioning are always concerned about themselves. That’s so sad.

Don't you think that the family members and close friends are impacted as well? It not all just about the person transitioning. The impact is felt by everyone around them as well. Sadly, our society points fingers at all involved.. "how could the parents stand for this?" Or "allowing this is child abuse." The latter of which has very real criminal implications, where even unfounded accusations have massive impact... Also, many states hold the parent financially responsible for legal actions concerning their child, and if their child is charged for being in a locker room or bathroom, the parents are responsible for the costs, which are more expensive than a lot of cars... All of this doesn't include the harassment and hazing of siblings, possible problems with landlords or employers, or many other circumstances that parents would have to worry about... it's not all about the person transitioning...

@@rossaldrich6357 I know they are affected, but it’s the person that’s in transition that’s the important person.

So, in that light, you'd say I'd be reasonable in making my wife and children homeless by losing my 25 year career by placing my transition as more important than their lives? That my kids getting humiliated and ridiculed in school and elsewhere for something they have no control over is acceptable? After all, I, being in transition am the most important, right? So it's perfectly acceptable to destroy 4 people's lives? And what is that supposed to do for my mental health? as if transitioning didn't have enough of its' own problems, I get the guilt of failing my family along with it..
I AM a parent, and as such I have an introspection that you obviously do not. As a parent I have a responsibility of not only the happiness of my child, but also for their safety and well being, and that often extends to things that may not directly involve any of them, but can indirectly affect their lives profoundly.. It does not make me more important, but equally so...
