Absolutely superb video! I thought it was impossible to do it that way but as I hadn't understood ESXi networking prior to the video but you clarified it excellently.
hi, in real environments I would use trunk ports connected to APs (with Native vlan the mgmt + CAPWAP tunnel). Cuz the Central switching vs local switching is a consideration regarding quality issues when assigning a particular vlan to a service such as voice/video and its traffic going back and forth the WLC in order to communicate users in the same net but different locations and this happens a lot with enterprise collaboration tools. :)
Nice tutorial, just in time for my tesis, I would like to know if you could test the support of the microphone on the docker ubuntu desktop over rdp. I've install zoiper for my labs and I can't get it work.
I have EVE-ng community edition running on Dell poweredge R620 server on Vmware ESXI bare metal OS. I want to connect eve-ng to the physical access point . Can you suggest me a refurbished switch and access point model I can buy from Amazon for this purpose?
@Data Knox - I've been scouring the internet for an answer but can't find it. How would you compare Eve-NG and CML2.0? For context I'm building a lab for CCIE Collab and want to virtualize it, any ideas on the comparison? Thanks for all the content!
I don’t believe it has to be a trunk going into the server. You could leave that port untagged and then just connect it to an access port. Either way should work.
You can leave Esxi vSwitch and workgroup untagged, means (allow 4094 I guess), and then on EVE virtual switch(vIOS or IOL) you can connect this could. Result will be: EVE lab switch trunked to real SW trunk...and you can connect anything you like in any VLANS on real SW...and in eve lab create same vlans and connect and assign virtual management nodes aka vWLC, or CUCM
that's shortest and meaningful video on combining virtual and physical network I have ever seen
I wasn't understand you but now I know who this guy is.....very informative
The best tutor and contents ever, Thank you Knox for your efforts.
Thanks 🙏

Thanks for sharing your knowledge

However you want to handle it is up to you 😁
If an AP has multiple SSID with different vlans then a trunk would be required. The controller needs to reach an AP from a MGMT perspective.

This is amazing. I was looking for something like this!
Great demo knox thank you

knox, could you please let me know which AP you are sung?

Best channel !!! Please keep up!! Can you make a video talking about the physical server that you use for your eve?
Check out my video called Build an I.T. Homelab 😊
Is there a way to get the ESXi as you have for free? Like a community ESXi, if that... then which would be the limitations?
Great work 👏
can i do this on vmware workstation?
hi what console terminal are you using
SecureCRT
Is there a cisco access point qemu for eve-ng ?
There is not
@@DataKnox If i copy the ios on my cisco ap1142n and paste it in the eve-ng qemu directory, would that not also work, btw thanks for the replay.
@@kulan2116 I don’t think so, but try it and let me know!
@data knox - Can this be replicated on workstation pro? Thanks!
@@kulan2116 If you have qcow file and EVE-NG has no template for it try to create a custom (have a look at EVE-NG docs) and you will see.
