Honesty that’s what this song all about be proud of what you do
R.I.P Jason and hope someday something will actually be taking seriously of Jason's Law
Sir you took this industry and you turned it into a song! I remember the times you sing about. Alot of good men and women ran across this country chasing that white line. I remember it all to well. Your song is the truth about how it used to be for life on the road. I look around and I see all the ones I knew running from coast to coast are gone. We used to have a ball in that left lane. Truckstops that welcomed you like walking in your home. Waitresses that made you feel like you were someone special. Lord the time have changed from when I started and I cry wondering why I still here and my friends are all gone. Every now and then I will run into an old hand and we will talk about the good times, but that is far and few between now. The damn law has taken away so much for a person to make a living with the fines and regulations. They say it's about safety but anyone who has lived this dream knows it's all about taking your money. I miss sitting around the table and talking at the Truckstops, no one even speaks anymore. The back row is all quiet now and there's no place to go. I long for those good old days and one last run .
The things he sings about trucking , today's so called truck drivers would never understand
just discovered this artist while looking for more trucker songs. your songwriting is so fantastic.
Still running but I truly miss the good old days when being a truck driver got great respect and was proud to be one thanks for the great tunes

I am Proud you wrote this song. I Also Remember when this happened. I was turning Birmingham out of Mobile & it was CB news that night & several others. This song will hopefully keep that Drivers Memorie ALIVE. Really Good Work Paul keep Writing.
lbbradley55 thank you brother
Wasn't that in Orangeburg South Carolina, we're they shot that ole boy? I remember that one. The fellow was from Jersey. They passed a law in his memory.

I don't know where exactly.
Paul can tell you.
It was about 20 yrs ago.
I remember that.
@@lbbradley55 thank you. I do believe that I am right i didn't realize that the song was a tribute to the late driver. I was down in Charleston South Carolina that morning loading steel to go to Atlanta GA. When we came up highway 301 , I actually saw the police and his truck along the parking lot of a grocery store. The story i found out later that they robbed him for $20 that was all he had in his pocket and left him there. Alot of us that was running that area never went without a gun in the truck from that day on.
@@williamcreel624
You betcha driver.
I'm a second gen trucker with 25 yrs exp. All I can say is Godspeed to all the truckers. May we all get home.
amen I'm a 3gen trucker
Highly recommend this whole album-real fuckin deal!
One of my fav songs just needed a 379 instead of a 389
I want to shake your hand.you one of the old school
This is something every trucker can relate too, especially with elogs. 10 years and several close encounters. Great job Paul, people need to hear about the other side of the trucking world besides all the hammer down and traveling all over songs, thanks.
Thanks Phillip. Great to hear from you.
Son I've seen a lot change over 23 years on the road. The time Paul sings about was back before any e log. After fuel went to $5 per gallon back in 2003. That's when it all went south.
@@williamcreel624 The incident Paul is singing about in this song happened in 2009.
Love this song.brings back great memories

What's the story behind this song I would love to hear about it!!!!??
Great song! Where can I find the lyrics to it?
Check www.paulmarhoefermusic.com/ . They may be there. If not you can contact him thru the website... Thanks!
I checked there first. They aren't posted there. I contacted Paul and he said they got mossed. He did say that he was going to post them. I know most of the words, but there are a few I can't make out.
Let me tell ya what it gets ya when you give em all you got
A nerve that's fried and a face that's shot
Your shoulders and black ass a stain on the lot
Of the West Memphis Flying J
You were called the Johnny Appleseed of crack cocaine
You pimped a sweet ride and you blew a cool pane
You were busted three times but they let you walk away
Cause you were back in Sandinista for the CIA
???? Mary Bell Lane
Never knew no Johnny Appleseed of crack cocaine
He lost his money playing poker and was hurtin for some rock
So he hit up Jimmy Haven and said I need to see the glock
They ain't nothin in this world that ever really shines
Like a red Peterbilt 379
Well he saw that way it glistened and went in for the gold
But 2 singles in the barrell shot that driver full of holes
Well, there ain’t no rest for the working man
Where’s a poor boy supposed to sleep
He was 900 miles out of Fultonham
When you turned him out of Elloree
From there I kind of get lost. Can make out some.
@@randyross4799 I'll help out a little, "flew a cool plane" "shoulders are black as a stain on the lot of the west memphis flying j" and its willie pelzer 22 of mary bell lane, the guy who murdered jason and its Jimmie Haygood not haven. And 2 singles and 5 shots. Jason was shot twice in the head and 7 times total. Guy who murdered the driver borrowed his buddy's 45, which was Jimmie haygood. He actually reported the gun stolen to distance himself from the gun, and police put 2 and 2 together and that's how they got caught. theres a story online. Pretty sad. It's also pretty deep that he sings about the sandista Nicaragua contra group though. Guess that must have been the drug dealer that forced the cracked head to do what he did?
Can someone add lyrics? There are just a few parts I can't make out.
That W. Memphis Flyin J o yeah. Is that real deal a rat or legit??? Come in come on
Wow someone said this song is about a Drug Addict Truck driver SMH ...he must not have listened or Must not have been there when Jason Rivenburg was shot in Elloree S.C.. I remember very well the evening he was murdered, ,
Lyrics sent to me by paul himself....
Elloree by Paul Marhoefer
Copyright 2016
Lemme' tell ya' what it gets ya' when ya give 'em all ya' got:
A nerve that's fried and a face that's shot;
A soul just as black as a stain on the Lot
Of the West Memphis Flying J.
You were called the Johnny Appleseed of crack cocaine.
You pimped a sweet ride and you flew a cool p!ane;
You were busted three times but they let you walk away
' cause you were baggin' Sandanistas for the CIA.
Now Willie Pelzer ,22, of Marybell Lane
Never knew no Jonny Appleseed of crack cocaine.
He'd lost his money playing poker and was hurtin for some rock
So he hit up Jimmy Haygood, said, "I need to see the Glock."
There ain't nothin' in this world that ever really shines
Like a red Peterbilt 379.
Willie saw the way it glistened so he went in for the gold;
For two singles and a fiver shot that driver full of holes.
Chorus: Oh there ain't no rest for a workin' man
Where's a poor boy supposed to sleep?
He was 900 miles out of Fultonham when you turned him out of Elloree
Now Mr. Johnny Appleseed of crack cocaine
your whereabouts they are unknown,
But they put that poor boy on a Northnound train
And carried him to his Schoharie County home.
Now Willie Pelzer, he's laid up in a Carolina pen,
He ain't leaving 'til he's good and ripe .
He ain't thinking too much about nothin' at all
He's just a cravin' that warm glass pipe.
Chorus
