    • @GH-oi2jf
      @GH-oi2jf 4 года назад +2

      Phantom 94 - Apollo 7 had already taken the Command/Service Module to Earth orbit for testing. The Lunar Modules were behind schedule and not ready. NASA wanted another mission before a LM would be ready, but just putting the CSM in Earth orbit again seemed redundant. They decided to do the Moon orbit to keep the program moving forward, and to test the trip to the Moon and back without the added complexity of a Moon landing. I don’t understand why astronauts brought “God” into it

    • @sambradley2975
      @sambradley2975 5 лет назад +11

      Because God created the planets & at the same time, they survived a risky mission & were grateful to God that they did. Back then, very few, if anyone, questioned that. Nowadays, people have lost their moral compass & some people, especially young people have chosen to abandon God & so many young people have fallen astray

    I'm a massive fan of the Apollo missions and followed them avidly as a child. The astronauts possessed unimaginable bravery. But I find it excruciatingly embarrassing to listen to these men of science regurgitating all this hackneyed old God nonsense. I had to turn the sound off. So they attribute everything to a big man in the sky who doesn't even talk to us, or help us in anyway. If he did create the Earth, then he has left most of it in an horribly cruel mess.

      My position is that we should respect the right of all people to believe what they please regarding such things. That is in the spirit of the founding of our nation. Freedom of religion is fundamental. These men were not giving a sermon, but merely reading a well-known piece of literature which seemed appropriate. We don’t know their beliefs in detail and don’t need to know.
