Lots of vids like this on YT, but THIS has got to be the most stupendous and awe-inspiring of all! What a phenomenal light show! Underneath that storm, thunder must have been continuous. Utterly stunning!
Wow! Rapid Fire Lightning! If we had a storm like that in Seattle, people would think it was the end of the world! That was more lightning in 5 seconds than we get in 5 years!
I flew into something like that in a Chinook helicopter in a rare bad storm in Iraq. We made the thunder jealous as we rumbled a good bit more. Was interesting to see lightning flash all around us, especially with the ramp lowered and at night. We were at about 1000ft AGL right under the cloud line. I was a more awestruck than scared, you could say.
That plane is approaching the airport, not going up, to the lightning storm miles away, but I'll give you the thumbs up for the impressive footage, because in Brazil we have lightning storms, but no one here came as close as this one! Holy shit!
That plane is most likely about to land at the Brisbane airport, and that storm is most likely 100km past Moreton Island. Good view of the storm heading out to see though
OMG is it safe to be flying into that?!?! I would have seriously thought I was going to die if I was on board that plane. Never seen anything like this! Wow!
Me and my sister and parents were flying home to England from Toronto on Saturday and we flee through a lightening storm! We gad been in the air about 3/4/5 minutes and the air hostess said over the tannoy "the captain is switching the seatbelt sign on as we are approaching turbulence" even though the sign didn't come off! We didn't really get any turbulence due to it though. It was scary and close though all the same!
that is 1 intense storm!!!!, i would love to see one like that here in adelaide!!!, no doubt we have them, but knowing when they are coming and being about to capture it is a different story... that storm doesn't even look real, or that its been sped up somewhat!!!. i know its reall, thats awesome!!
The actual storm as in rain and wind is pretty far away It's hard judge distance, but just because there's some lightning doesn't mean you can't land. Obviously they wouldn't be making an approach if they were showing red radar returns all along the approach path.
Hi adlante1983, I'm very interested in speaking to you about this footage. We are producing a tv series and would like to use your footage in our show. Please let me know the best way to get in touch. Kind regards, Lisa
I fucking love thunderstorms and I love flying too but even I would be slightly freaked out at flying into that thing. Not so much because of the lightning but the risk of microbursts.
lightning is not a big deal for flying airplane. And as the plane will gain altitude, the storm will be underneath of the plane. so no big deal! pilots are well trained for that. nice lightning though. looks like God had a tough day with his crews :)
That is pretty insane, but lightning strikes airplanes every day and nothing bad happens....but still, i'd be writing my will and praying to god while downing numerous whiskeys!

For a second it looks like the plane was going to get zapped. That was a beautiful storm!

Yeah that storm was epic. I filmed the same one. Amazing.
Top storm, he was landing and not flying into it. Storm was quite far away hence no thunder being heard!
That's a very brave pilot
Jeez! that's scary, but beautiful.. but that's a brave pilot! l would love to see the storm just not from inside a plane! :o
he was in the clear the whole time. that storm was a good 20 miles away
same here all we get are thunderstorms or severe thunderstorm maybe a bit supercell and tornados but no lightning storms
I was flying through this coming back I just put my head down and prayed lol

Majority of the time planes get grounded during storms are due to wind and visibility, not so much lightning.
I have never seen that much lightning in my life i usually see 5 per storm
reminds me of florida usa from May-August (seabreeze storm season)
Amazing id love to see something like this and i hope the Pilot headed to an Airport near by
Omg I have never seen anything like that in my entire life.
"Wonderful Weather we're having" said the flight attendant.
HAHA! That would be interesting to hear over the recording.
Majestic!

I fucking love thunderstorms and I love flying too but even I would be slightly freaked out at flying into that thing. Not so much because of the lightning but the risk of microbursts.
Pilot must have huge balls, or have been really high when he took off
Y was there no thunder?
i never get to see these storms
wow, is that pilots head screwed on properly?
