Sucks to those that dropped money on the R5 with its silly 30min limit. Still, I wish that the R3 had full sized HDMI, Waveforms, RAW out to the Ninja+ and the truth regarding its overheating details
We really need to test the footage before we can tell that. But my initial thoughts are that the c70 will be a better video specific tool for most users, but the R3 will certainly have environments where it would be much more suitable
The C70 is Super 35, and this is full frame. Not that there's anything wrong with Super 35, but it's something to keep in mind. My big concern for that would be that all the RF mount glass is full frame at this point. Of course, you can use the RF to EF adapter and get some EF mount APS-C glass (so EF-S) that would be more appropriate. I would use the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 EF-S lens primarily if I were to get a C70 with the Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 EF-S as a secondary lens.
With the R5, they talked up the video features and downplayed that -at that time- it was the most capable full-frame stills camera ever made. It was a great video camera, but the overheating brought unwanted attention to them highlighting the video. Now we have the R3 and all they're talking about is how incredible it is as a stills camera. This is downplaying that this is one of the most capable video MILC of all time. Jeff Cable interview in Canon Rumors: Like myself, I do wonder why the Canon EOS R3 isn’t dual CFExpress slots. I think the market that will buy this camera is ok with spending more on fast memory cards. Q: What’s the one thing you liked least about the R3? Jeff Cable: The SD Card slot is slow. I was shooting RAW plus JPEG to both the CFexpress card and the SD card since I couldn’t easily open the R3’s RAW files yet and needed the JPEGs. Some people don’t know this but shooting RAW plus JPEG slows the camera down more than shooting two RAWs because the camera has to process the image twice.
