As a mbwiti I will forever be grateful to you because what I "basically" 😅 teach my kids about our tradition I learn from your, no, OUR channel. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH. Much love from Okahandja. PS. I forgot how to make oshikundu, can you please please do a video while making it? baie dankie hoor.
I love how similar our recipes are in Southern Africa. This is also one way we cook our wild melon in Zululand (Zulu). My mom cooked this for me a few weeks ago, apparently, it helps with asthma and hay fever. I don't know whether it was the placebo effect, but when I drank the melon soup, I didn't experience any asthma attacks or allergies.
One thing about Africa we do have similar tradition and culture, the only different thing is language and if we listen to each language deeply, you can pick here and there they are all similar, you can see it through the food we eat, in SA🇿🇦 limpopo province (Bapedi tribe) that melon we call it lerotse, we do as well plough the mahangu, we call it (leotša) , and that meal or porridge we cook the same way either we add the mahangu (leotša flour) or maize meal, we basically cook it the same way. since watching your content, the Bapedi (pedi tribe of SA) we have similar traditions/culture I will say, some people use pumpkin to cook that instead of the melon, I saw the Vha-venda tribe in SA limpopo doing that❤ 8:21
I just came across your channel last month. Believe me I watched all if not then 98% of your videos. They are just so real and reflecting most of my childhood experiences. I'm from Okongo. We have almost everything in common. I love you and your channel so much.
Can we count how many times Woven said "basically "😅😅 I enjoyed every bit of this vlog❤ And everytime i watch your village vlogs,it makes me wanna go to the village tog😭😭🫶
Hey there.. process is almost similar with the mayeyi culture there by katima... 😂😂 our granny taught use that we have to peel the melon or pumpkin 🎃 in a way that we use it as spoons and the rest goes to the animals. And we remove the seeds for next ploughing season if it tastes good if not we use it for to make sources.. we don't add salt but we add mazie meal or millet whatever the granny wants to eat with.. for the lamps we use a whisk traditional one and we have it as it is or with sour milk which my favorite... i love how you share your life with us as for me I learn alot❤❤❤❤
I don’t even know why I took so long to turn on notifications!Thank you for blessing us with village vlogs! When I tell you i’m looking forward to the village Xmas vlog?!🤞❤❤❤❤❤
Not me talking to myself ,kutya Woven tohwike itale oshimbale , oshee hena unene pomundilo tog 🤣🤭🔥....etanga is one of my faves , just add a little bit of butter and see why I'm saying so 😋
One other thing, I heard you calling that melon thanga (sorry for spelling error) in your native language, we have another type of melon we call it that, in fact we say leraka, when I say it you will hear it's similar to what you said
I think there are so many similarities in our languages as Africans and I especially love that about us. One can go almost anywhere in Africa and still feel at home ❤️.
Always enjoy these vlogs so much. Got hooked after watching you host Wode. You were so entertaining, so knowledgeable, and on point had me laughing at times. Still remember you suddenly jumping off the truck. You are the bomb!!! Searched for you and have been following ever since then. I think all of your videos are very well presented, delivering quality information and insights. You are multidimensional. Looking forward to 50k. Stay blessed Woven.
Oshili I salute you. I'm not mbwiti and I forgot how to prepare a lot of our traditional food. Such a big shame. Definitely gonna try and relearn how to do every especially okuhanga

In Zimbabwe the Shona will do all that but we add peanut butter as well but the Ndebele do it differently no flour added It’s so tasty.
I actually love that someone can attribute the health benefits to our traditional meals. Organic food all the way 🙏🏾

Similar in Kenya. Maize, sorghum or finger millet and pumpkin. We don’t have those melons. Wish I can have the seeds.
