Bought the LP for this music when I was at university... a time when planning for the future was dreaming of a life in High Society.... dreams are made of this..
@vuthihongngoc8697 I know I'm late to the party, but did you see the other version, the 1940 movie with Cary Grant an if you did which one do you like, I haven't seen High Society yet, I'm looking for it just as we speak. I seen the 1940 version which was very good
une vrai princesse dans ce film quelle élégance quel style GRACE sera KELLY aurait dû rester actrice.... la scène que je préféré avec Frank sinatra son regard bleu profond la chanson "Sensationnel"
Apples and oranges. Tho set the record straight: there is no Cole Porter score in 'The Philadelphia Story'. The music matters most for those of us who delight in 'High Society.'
Not much of a concern when there is a Cole Porter score to consider. 'Kiss Me Kate' did not improve on Shakespeare's comedy, but without it we would not have been so rewarded as we were with 'So in Love', among Porter's very greatest songs.
Does anyone know why Grace Kelly always played the love interest of geezers 40 years older than her in the movies and then ended up marrying one 40 years older than her. No wonder she drove herself off a cliff.
Well the part was written for her so she has that advantage. However I’m uncertain how good a singer Katherine was and whether she would be suited for Tracy in High Society
I saw "High Society" in 1956 when I was about 8 years old. I was bored, not understanding what was going on. I saw "The Philadelphia Story" in 1969 when I was 20, for the first time. It was a newly restored print at the UCLA Film Archive. I swore that Kate Hepburn was the perfect Tracy Lord and I absolutely loved that movie. No other cast could possibly equal Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Virginia Weidler et al. Then, in the 1990's, I saw "High Society" again. I loved it, much to my surprise! Never mind that Frank Sinatra was ten years too old for Mike, and Bing Crosby was 20 years too old for Dexter, who cares!? It's Frank and Bing singing! I thought Grace's Tracy was excellent. Each actress was perfect for her version of Tracy in her version of the story, each in its own distinct era. As far as the plot goes, I've always been Team Tracy. She was right to be angry at her father and resentful at having her wedding crashed by tabloid reporters. She was also right to forgive her dad, eventually, and to take Dexter back.
I do agree, Celeste Holme has more charisma in her little finger than Grace Kelly ever had, thought she was an over rated actress, vacuous, no figure to speak of, flat chested,
It stands to resson. But they are part of the history of motion pictures, without which we would be denied seeing on the screen true legendary figures, as compared with today's mostly pale performers.
How could she be so beautiful! Can't take my eyes off her~
Her dresses are beautiful!
This era was really beautiful
I honestly think that this trailers opening shot is the coolest thing I've seen in my life

Streuth... Kelly was unbelievably beautiful.
Grace Kelly would have looked beautiful in a Walmart dress.
She would look beautiful in anything
une vrai princesse dans ce film quelle élégance quel style GRACE sera KELLY aurait dû rester actrice.... la scène que je préféré avec Frank sinatra son regard bleu profond la chanson "Sensationnel"
That would have been another good suit for Frank Sinatra to wear when he played Nathan Detroit
Love this movie 🎥
It was Louis Calhern's final film. He died in May 1956, two months before the film's release.
ÉPOCA MARAVILLOSA
A tribute to HRH GRACE GRIMALDI.
❤

Dated but Grace is great
This is GRACE KELLY movie more than it is a Frank Sinatra movie.
Grace was beguilingly beautiful...............
Young Grace looked liked young Catherine Deneuve.
The contrary
is this a spin off or redo of katherine hepburn's the philedelphia story?
YEP
Reel-Living Films maybe
Musical version of "The Philadelphia Story", with a Cole Porter score.
Thanks, I got The Philadelphia Story right away and I was confused for a moment.
Like The Swan, Society used The Biltmore Estate as an exterior location.😅
Why did they take so many 1930s movies & make them into 1950s musicals?
Quick Cash

It’s a good thing they did with some degree of taste, unlike the garbage they reboot and regurgitate nowadays

Silly
Audrey Hepburn was another actress often paired with older men...
Audrey Hepburn too. Thin as a toothpick
Is it only me who thinks Katharine Hepburn was better suited to Tracy Lord than Grace Kelly was?
It’s just you

Grace Kelly was certainly better looking so yes
George: Roar! Ro- Hey! Don't stop the roar! Stoopid!
I really like this movie, but feel that Grace Kelly is only so-so
She plays a vain, pain in the butt ; dangling three men on a string does not make a woman attractive or funny.
I do agree, Celeste Holme has more charisma in her little finger than Grace Kelly ever had, thought she was an over rated actress, vacuous, no figure to speak of, flat chested,
great movie but the original was better.
Great speech Frank (Mike) gave on date rape. You tell 'em, boss!
Everett Fuqua Are Walmart's dresses notoriously bad? Or just not up to your standards?
Persona Uno heavenly are better

Old movies like this makes me uncomfortable

HÉLAS😒😒😒😒😌😔 j aurais préféré le film complet.....................
She has got no chemistry with bloated and old Bing Crosby
I've always preferred Bing Crosby to Frank Sinatra. I just never have liked him very much. To each his own.
They were an item at one stage .
Thank God I never watched this movie.
Lol
One of the most boring films I've ever seen!
One of the most boring person I've ever read!
Getting to see Grace Kelly on screen sure is a treat though😍😍😍
great movie but the original was better.
what is the original?
Yasemin Kevser it's called the Philadelphia story, it's black and white
It stars Katherine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Cary Grant
Much better.
