- A reproduction of Grimaud's 1890 edition, this was available as part of a Kickstarter campaign for "Tarot Compendium" book by Lo Scarabeo in 2017. It was included as a reward pack of deck and book for the tier EUR 54 pledge. This edition of the Grand Etteilla was available for about EUR 20-50 on Ebay (excluding shipping) around December 2017. I obtained this copy through a swap. Grimaud commission three reworking of Etteilla's original deck(s) after he passed away. These, from what I read, are what we now know as Etteilla I, Etteilla II, and Etteilla III. Grimaud in France still publish these at the time of the making of this video.

Wow. This is really quite special. Thank you for sharing ! Hope you feel better soon! 🌺
Thank you! I feel better on and off :D
I have this deck,, and my copy also has the red flocking rubbed off on the shoulder ; ) I expect they're all the same. I had been really hoping for an English translation within the book, and agree about the lamination : / I find the historical decks so interesting!!! On a random note, I love your wind chimes :D If you do a search for Lisa Boswell and Etteilla, she has some good info. I hope that you're starting to feel some better!
Carol H Hello Carol! After all the no lamination in their special edition historical repro, this was an interesting choice with the high sheen lamination :/ Yes I feel much better now thank you! :) Thanks for confirming about the red velvet parts and I think I might have come across her website too. But will definitely double check and note that name down :)
What a beautiful and interesting deck!
It is indeed!
I have a copy, mine also has the rubbed off velvet on the shoulder
This video was posted so long ago I can’t remember which part this refers to. How are you liking yours? I love the craftsmanship of this deck but I am about ready to let go of my esoterica collectable because that’s all they are to me right now. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@NobodyHere aaah keep your collection! I'm a collector too, it gives me a lot of pleasure.
APOLOGIES for the abrupt ending of this video. My device ran out of space, and I am feeling to ill to edit or redo :)
Your channel is a reference video library! (I hope you never delete it :) ! (Gebelin = g like in 'good')
Haha I shall take that as a compliment :P I googled French pronunciation of Gebelin and heard a soft G like the French J. So now I shall say hard G like "good" :D and the "i" is still "a" like how the French does it?
It was definitely a compliment! I watched this one before backing for the Etteilla pledge of Lo Scarabeo's KS yesterday...! Now about Gebelin I finally think that your pronunciation in the video was the right one. Mea culpa, I do not know for some reason I was thinking this one as an exception to the 'rule' of g,c, + e,i. So please forgive my mistake and the last part of my previous comment, at least until I verify it again. :)
Haha no worries it isn't a big deal! Let me know when you can find out what is the accurate pronunciation! I have this one still but will never use it to "read" really :) Just as a reference :) I like how the package it :)
Yes of course. And I was going to forget : the 'i' before 'n' is pronounced like the vowel in the english 'hein' :)
Just gorgeous! I want one!
:D There is a good repro of the cards on gameofhopelenormand.bigcartel.com :D that I am now considering getting too :P Heh. Nice to see you here :)
Nobody Here Ooooh yes! Love that shop, I've been looking at some of their fabulous Lenny repros 😍
Thank you for this! I recently managed to get a copy of this and was wondering if the French booklet was a mistake or part of how accurate the reproduction was. Did you ever find an English-language book that worked with the deck?
My pleasure! My interest in this one was and still is purely academic so I never did try to find an English language book to work with the deck since this approach to tarot is far from mine. But there are many books I believe where this deck is part of their discussions. Sorry esoteric tarot is the one part that I largely skipped, and using tarot for divination is something I left a long time ago!
Очень эстетичная колода✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
действительно 😁 (Google Translate)
Haven’t watched the whole video yet but No, mine doesn’t have that velvet across the whole sleeve either
Oh thanks so much for confirming! I am so glad about that :P
Did they really only print 250?
@@thetarotauthority I am writing this from 7 years in the future, and this video is so old. Having left the tarot world a few years ago, I not up to date with the tarot collecting world so I can’t help so sorry. This print run and edition certainly. If they decided to do another batch I wouldn’t know. I am selling all of my collection so keep an eye out for an announcement. For now my collection sale page is on Instagram @MyCollectionForSale but I may have to move as I find that platform a pain to navigate due to its aggressive algorithms.
@@NobodyHere may I ask why your selling your collection?
@@thetarotauthority Because I have no use for them anymore and no longer derive pleasure them them 🤓 I have returned to my normal life after a long period of grieving and transition 😊
Way to late to comment but: your Gebelin sounds fine, your Campagne doesn't (there's no H between the C and the A so it should be literally like Camp) and yes you can call this a Tarot, if you ever feel like it there's a lengthy discussion at the defunct Aeclectic forum about the different versions of what is called an Etteilla deck that also delves in the meaning of the cards that I could have almost swear was written by you 😊 (etteilla time-line I believe). Also since you have 2 medieval scapinies a run trough between the keywords on the minors of this deck and the artwork by Luigi on the same cards could offer a few insights on the similarities between Etteilla and RWS
hector roberto contreras miranda Hello Hector! Thank you! I will have to rewatch this video to remember what the Campagne was about 😬 As for AT I am almost certain that wouldn’t be me 😬 because I never quite gotten into Etteilla and only started digging into older decks last year. But now I am curious and will look that post up 😬 I did try to figure out which Etteilla was which in my earlier days learning tarot 😬
Is it easy to shuffle? Thank you!
Depends on how you like to shuffle and the size of your hand span. But generally OK.
@@NobodyHere thank you so much!! How about riffle shuffle?🤣
