  • Toontown was a Disney MMO from the early 2000's. I take a look at some of the highlights of the game, and how you can play it now. Toontown is a treasured game from my childhood, and I hope this video reminds you why it was so awesome
I am very proud of this video and I hope you like it!

I remember being 9 years old in 2004, and seeing this commercial on Disney Channel.
So I came onto our Family Computer at the time and played for a trial period of 3-4 days. Thats how it was back then. Only 3-4 days of free play.
Then later you played for unlimited time, just restricted a lot of things.
I remember being a pink tall dog named Princess Spotty Poodlewoof.
I was addicted to this game. I played all the time. I maxed out my toon by the free membership.
I’ll never forget in morning at 3AM when I was playing in 2007… I met this tall yellow dog named Bobo who was on a free trial. He bowed to me after a cog fight we had.
We became best friends with our limited speech.
    This dog was charismatic.
It was so funny because we met a blue bear with an anger problem. Then we all became a team, the 3 of us.
Everything was so exciting because I remember he somehow gathered maybe about 20 toons to follow him to the playground. It was just exciting running in that group of toons to our next goal.

Well you picked a good time to upload this video. Another well known Toontown fan server known as Toontown Corporate Clash, has dropped some really interesting content in the past couple of months. Corporate Clash is pretty much a reimagining of Toontown Online with a whole new story line, a level system, new toon species, a whole new gag track, reworked cogs (mainly with the lawbots), a whole new cog type, new bosses and reworked many of things that plague TTO and even parts of Toontown Rewritten as well. They just dropped a new limited time event for Corporate Clash and just like TTR is also free to play. Give it a try if you like TTR.
Now as for your video, It is also Incredible. A nice deep dive into the world that was TTO, showing how despite being a 2003 game, it has a lot of features to make it stand out as the MMO craze was coming in and it was also nice to see it had some effects in a way like Disney's lesser but other well known MMOs like Pirates of the Caribbean Online, Pixie Hollow Online and even seeing them acquire Club Penguin to grown their game brand was something. It does sucked that the original servers were shut down in 2013 but you could still see the reasons as to why. They were a bit old and didn't made enough money as from the years prior and seeing how much Club Penguin was pulling in, it made sense to shut them down. As well as knowing the fate of how their online game brand has practically died back in the late 2010's with things like the closure of Club Penguin and the flop that was Disney Infinity. However to put a nice spin on things, it is amazing to see how fans who loved the games they once played as kids now hold the torch for them with fan projects to keep them alive and with no profits made from them at all, just doing it out of their hearts to keep the spirit alive.

While sure Corporate Clash does not have a lot of players as compared to TTR, it still has a lot in the hundreds and when new big updates drops, in the thousands.
Again it all comes down to preference.
Rewritten is like how the video at the end says it is. The original game with content that feels like what the original devs wanted with tweaks to the game that make it less grindy.
Meanwhile Clash is a complete reimagine of Toontown Online with all the stuff I said.

The absolute BEST way to grind jellybeans in TTR (and ttcc, too) is to grab at least one friend, wait for trolley tracks, and head to donalds dreamland. Pick the Tag game every time it comes up, and take turns being “it,” instead of actually playing, the person who isn’t it runs around and gets as many treasures as possible. You can make thousands of beans in a few hours like this, maybe even less time depending on the rng of rolling Tag as one of your options.

This isn't correct. The easiest way is easiest way is to go to bean parties. Basically, go to donald's dreamland in a very populated realm, then just stay in the middle. People will usually give Unite jellybeans. Just standing there for a few hours gives you like 10k (use an autoclicker to jump every 3 minutes so you don't get kicked.)

Its funny you mentioned Roblox as a modern online safe space for kids. Roblox's TOS was originally a copy/paste of Toontown's TOS with only minor changes and Toontown replaced with Roblox. Roblox used to have a speedchat system also directly inspired by Toontown, but this was phased out in the late 2010s. I think Roblox struggles now because its grown so much that its hard for moderation to keep up, not to mention how its become a unified global experience. Things like Wizard101 or Toontown were localized to specific regions without any cross play and that helped a lot more with moderation than you might think.

Then I see a new Toontown server called Toontown Rewritten. I have been playing it everyday and also Toontown Offline as well. The toontown grind is nothing compared to the wizard 101 grind

I haven't ever played Wizard 101 but a lot of people say Toontown is similar. I'm shocked that it has a worse grind though, was it just for leveling up or was there something else you had to grind in W101

@@Pugweenee Its the amount of content really which involves leveling up, back when I played a kid max level was I think 60-80ish with the first arc being only 5 worlds, and now it is 160... with 4 arcs and over 20 worlds I think, which is crazy. I went back after years to progress through the rest of the worlds and I got hooked for about a month and beat 3 worlds in that time. The community is still very active and it almost feels like too much to do now. If you pay the membership you get it all basically, otherwise the full game isn't really playable without one. I would recommend the game still for new players but would advise that you don't try to rush through the worlds and take it at your pace. Thanks for your reply!

The title is perfect seeing as I got sucked into the world of TTR from 2015-2018 after not having the ability to play TTO when I was younger as I never had a membership and oh boy... Do you get addicted quick if turn based strategy and MMORPG's are your thing.
I must say though all the extras that you mention (fishing, golfing, racing, and the unmentioned gardening) are GREAT in moderation but the moment you get serious about maxing out your Laff... Oh does that ideology change in the worst way possible. You being cussing out all of them when you don't get a hole-in-one while knowing all the lineups and when you don't get the last fish you need to max out fishing after 4 straight hours of fishing for it. Great game with an amazing community, though , just incredibly time consuming and tedious if you get serious about it.

As someone who still pretty much plays this religiously, the speedchat is good for safety, but makes it impossible to communicate ANYTHING that isnt hello and what are you doing lets do said thing you are doing. Speedchat + IS safe enough to communicate things like strategy or basic conversations but nothing too deep as half the english dictionary is blocked.

3:50 - that’s not true. In original toontown, most of the content was locked. You only had access to TTC toontasks

5:58 The MMO Wizard101 has this exact thing other players can join in and the more players the more monsters can join in battle with the max being a 4vs4 battle and in recent times they made it so you if you joined in late you dont need to wait till next turn to fight and you can fight right away giving if it is the players turn to fight
