  • As actors continue to strike, one issue is the potential for studios to wipe out acting jobs with artificial intelligence. CNN shows how new AI technology allows film directors to make actors look younger than they actually are. Donie O'Sullivan reports. #CNN #News

    AI is a natural fit for the movie industry. There's no way the writers and the actors are going to be able to stop studios from using it.

      We have watched cartoons, animated features and 3D characters for decades, I don't think using AI to make a movie will deter people from watching it. In fact, there's advantages to it, for example having a certain actor look younger or older, without the need of casting three different people for the same role

    It's funny. In "perfect world" scenarios, humans have technology that does the menial work, leaving us free to to create art and music. In today's world, we struggle to make ends meet while technology is slowly being used to create the art and music. Tell me this isn't backwards.

      You're forgetting that it's the execs who "earn" million-dollar incomes for creating absolutely nothing who make the decisions about what gets made. Where do you get the idea that it's the creators who decide? There is no doubt that a huge pile of quality projects are gathering dust somewhere, because they wouldn't bring in nearly the money that some crap, violence-filled, movie would. That's why independent movie makers exist. (I watched Breaking Bad, and regret that I did because of the violence.) Put the blame where it belongs.

    The last sentence is important. Replacing live actors entirely with AI and CGI generated characters seems far away right now, but in six months the situation can be entirely different. And once the big studios and streaming services let AI loose on scripts, they can do what Hollywood writers have been doing forever: rehash the same 100 plots, add a new twist or combine them in a slightly different way and hey presto, a new episode or film without having to pay for or argue with writers.

    • @MaverickBlue42
      @MaverickBlue42 11 месяцев назад +4

      The fact that they've been rehashing the same 100 plots is the reason they can get away with replacing the writers with AI right now. The writers have largely spent decades trying to make their job easier for AI by actively decreasing the quality of the scripts they write....

    AI can generate from what you trained it to , not create original content. Unless the combining of already used things is considered novel. If movies and actors are created like this the quality will stagnate . The audiences will notice it and start distancing from movies and shows thus killing the whole department. Its the same about modern music , since everyone started copying the same tunes and synthesizing music we have a lot of stars that die within 1 year because they have nothingbto offer than 1 hit.

    • @ivareskesner2019
      @ivareskesner2019 11 месяцев назад +2

      Cinema and TV content already practically always gets created by putting together the same old pieces already done and redone to death by everybody and their dog. Now they'll just let a computer do it. The sad thing is that it'll probably do a better job than the people who have been recycling the same tired tropes for decades now. The only way out of this predicament is to start creating actual new content. Of which there is veeeery little right now.

      Generally i agree. But there are shows wherevthe ingenuity of a director and scriptwriter can make the old look new. Like crhristophers Nolan's Batman. Old material new approach. People are craving for new things not ised ones the are washed out. Itsbpossible for ai to write better scanarios for a series that already has many episodes and thus can be trained. The problem is that new writters lack the imagination and education for creating new things

    I guess the movie stars have a problem. Which I don't think they really do. Because azu I rich already the ones that are suffering is the workers behind them. What's your name? Do people do clean up previous and everything else? I need a team but I do understand. What the talking about? How are you gonna read the ask us when they weren't performing? How are you gonna tell somebody that? This is a movie when it's just high-tech videos. How are you? They're gonna judge a movie star. If anybody can be a movie star with the side technology in the internet, yes, these people are getting away with too much, they should put down what's real or not real. The reason why I'm sending it is. Cause I'm active, is it gonna be active? They can put their movies out there and have proof that these are real movies by real actors. Not by machines, what are you gonna give a machine? $5 for every second or what? No, it's just greedy people that want to put things in theories. So that way they can get money only then. But let's put in comparison a real actor or a video. Talking by a machine that man-made just for greed. That's what I'm talking about. I rather see a real active coz. That gives room for younger actress to come in. And show their performance in the movies and shows, not videos. This is not demolition man programs showing videos. Showing proof that they made it the real people not machines. I go with the movie stars. Because you have to work hard to act the way they do. It's not right for them to take the movie stars and try to use them. They're faces further greed in money. That's the way I see it don't blame factors to be mad. I'm working on that cuz. I'd rather see a real actor than a fake video. Thank you very much and that is my opinion

    We all must stand shoulder to shoulder with our union representatives who are fighting for better working conditions and higher wages. All Americans are suffering under the runaway inflation brought to us by the Biden economy and even now that things are improving, Americans are working harder and working for only a .4% wage increase when inflation is considered.
    We also have to remember that the employees are striking against Hollywood movie makers, which are some of our most progressive him lawyers, and the strong liberal members of our Democrat party. This is most disturbing and we don’t understand why the progressive leadership of these Hollywood movie makers are standing against their employers, attempting to better working conditions, and being paid a living wage.
