I thought Momens' tactics were excellent. He hit mostly cross court and extra wide, plus more boasts than you ever see. It nullified Mathews' game. It wasn't the highest quality ever but it exposed Mathews' weakness. Excellent.
Best part of the match was Joey’s answer to Jonah after Jonah playfully (we assume) insulted him. Jonah: “something’s gotta give in the next few points.” Joey: “Well hopefully it’s not your chair.”
The judges should be fired for those two bad calls against Matthew at the end. Actually the judging was against Matthew all through the game but at the end it just became absurd.
Let's take that last shot where he went the wrong way. He corrected his movement and then tried to go the right way. He still had plenty of time to get to the ball but Momen was in his way. Matthew could not call point but he had every right for a let. Retrieving a ball on the wall is not difficult for him so calling the ball too good is not right. His initial movement did not put him suddenly in a bad position. More likely he read the situation to begin with as there would be no way Momen would hit the ball there and set him up for a free point. So not calling it a point for Matthew or at a minimum a let is just bad reffing.
I disagree. For taking up the T in the the way Matthew does I'd expect him to go around Momen i both situations. Momen has similar situations but choses to play but at a disadvantage, Matthew doesn't and suffers for it. This, is my amateur point of view.
I'm a Matthew fan, but I thought the video referees calls were correct. The one against the wall I thought could have gone either way, but it looked to me like slightly more no let than let.
I few comments about the co commentator- it’s Joey’s dad Jonah. A great squash player in his time, done heaps to promote squash around the world and highly regarded by players and fans alike. Cheers Jonah.
I actually liked the co-commentator. And it got even better when they started insulting each other. Still waiting for that chair to give out lol

Unfortunately when I play it looks nothing like this
vincent bowyer I'm with you.
I have to say, I hope to not hear a lot more of joey’s Co-commentator... sourly know-it-all... quite off putting
Bit embarrassing to listen to in all honesty. There must be some better guys out there to commentate. Tiiiigggghttt is so annoying
what venue will be Matthew's last for his career?
Either Hull for the British Open next week, or Dubai for the World Series Finals in June (if he qualifies)

Ivor O'Connor those 2 calls at the end were fair imo

Yes i disagree with the call during tie break . Moment's drop was lose , mattew can easily retrieve it. Ref have given strokes in those scenarios .
Lol the other guy commentating is Joey's father, Jonah Barrington. If I am not wrong.
It's Ian McKenzie, editor of Squash Player Magazine
Thanks for commenting. He is getting a lot of heat here. haha
He's not to everyone's taste, but he's forgotten more about squash than most people will ever know in a lifetime!
Not a fan of this other commentator
Matthew shows his poor sportsmanship again. He's a good player, wish he was a good a sport too.

It's not. It's Ian McKenzie
Lol
Miss PJ. Old guy comes off as a bit of a know-it-all.
