Jorge Ben is the actual author of Mas que Nada. This song is from the late 60's. It got worldwide known when it was recorded by Sergio Mendes, a famous brazilian musician living in the USA. Two information related to Jorge Ben: 1. He had to change his artistic name to Jorge Benjor when he signed with the same company that already had George Benson because their names were so similar. 2. Jorge Ben and Tim Maia used to hang out together in the 50's and 60's because they lived in the same neighborhood in Rio.
The funny story is Jorge Ben wants to emulate the beat of the guitar sound of João Gilberto ( bossa nova artists) and then he creates the samba-rock, this is style you playing now.

Jorge Ben, no começo da carreira, ainda nos anos 60, tocou junto com Toquinho e mais uns 3 ou 4 grandes nomes da música (Bossa, Samba, MPB...) num projeto de apresentações musicais em Teatros que não conseguiu juntar nem 5 pessoas na pláteia e logo foi cancelado. 1 ou 2 anos depois todos os participantes se tornaram famosos e com músicas entre as mais tocadas nas rádios.
