Jorge ben Jor is a genius. He wrote that song at 18 years old
@@Set7ONE Não é. Sérgio Mendes gravou uma versão desta música.
Mr Jorge Ben is a true master and Tim Maia's friend.
Mano...
1st song of his 1st album, and he started with a legend
Música do Jorge Ben é a representação da alma brasileira.
Here we call it a "samba-rock". we have many sub-genres within samba. samba rock mixes jazz, funk, soul and rock, making a faster sound than, for example, bossa nova and samba-canção
for me personally, the most important thing about samba rock is that it is the only samba I know we play guitar with steel strings and a pick
FOREST, you're right! There is a famous brazilian song that says: "Who doesn't like samba is not a good guy. He is probably wrong in the head or sick in the foot". 😉👍
'Samba da minha terra' escrita por Dorival Caymmi se não me engano, e muito famosa na voz de João Gilberto e vários outros interpretes.
@@daianasarainunes8642 isso mesmo!
"Eu nasci com o samba, no samba me criei e do danado do samba, nunca me separei". Ô coisa boa!
Is a song written and originally performed in 1963 by Jorge Ben on his debut album Samba Esquema Novo, which became Sérgio Mendes' signature song in his 1966 cover version.
Recently Sergio Mendes recorded a new version with Black Eyed Peas.
Other famous musics of Jorge Ben are "Chove Chuva" and "País Tropical", and I like "Os Alquimistas Estão Chegando" and Caetano Veloso singing his music "Charles Anjo 45"
And you are correct. It is not exactly a samba, a bossa nova and neither Jazz. This is The geniality of Jorge Ben Jor
I believe that many people don't remember that, before engaging in his composer/musician career, Jorge Ben was a soccer player star, playing for the Rios Flamengo soccer club. Many memorables goals.
Oooohhh....that’s probably why they use is song in this very popular football tv show in Italy back in the day👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nossa eu não sabia
This is from 1963, his first Record.
Jorge Ben Jor é o rei do balanço.
It's because this song is related to the soccer team, with other versions singers, that's why you feel at home with this song, most stadiums across the world relate this song to brazil and the national brazilian team.
HE IS MY FAVORITE SINGER...time ago I meet him on a drugstore and I didn't talked to him, cause I decided to respect his privacy.
Jorge Ben is a legend!!! Another classics are "País tropical" ("tropical country" is like one of Brasil's anthems), "Chove chuva", "Taj mahal", "Filho maravilha"... 🎉✨🇧🇷💚
Fio Maravilha
"If you don't like this song, you're not a good person". We sing something like this: "Quem não gosta de samba, bom sujeito não é. Ou é ruim da cabeça, ou doente do pé.".
Salve Jorge!!!
He has a huge and fantastic musical work. One of the bests and a big friend of the great Tim Maia
Another amazing Reaction ! Jorge Ben Jor is genius. Congrats Frank. Regards from Porto, Portugal.
You've made my day, guys. Frank Valchiria dancing samba on the couch! hahaha... funniest video ever.
Awesome! He baptized his brand new style as "samba-rock", that he invented. His first album represent it, "Samba Esquema Novo" (New Deal Samba), 1963. Thanks for reacting, grazzie mille!
"Mas que nada, sai da minha frente que eu quero passar, esse samba está animado que eu quero é sambar..." 👏👏👏
You need to react more Jorge Ben! He's amazing hitmaker
A reaction like this makes proud of my country. Great!
Jorge Ben Jor is an icon of our music!!! You should react to his other songs too, one of my favorites is Menina Mulher da Pele Preta. Amazing lyrics. He invented the samba rock style
Serious,Patrícia? For me,it is Fio Maravilha (but Menina Mulher da Pele Preta is also good).
Well Done !!! Awsome.
Jazz/Samba/BossaNova. All together
Hi guys🤗Jorge Ben Jor is the best representation of a Brazil full of joy, good vibes. In his songs the feeling of freedom of a free and relaxed open people is clear.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😘😘😘
My favorite music ever to dance to... and the most brazilian ;)

obrigado por prestigiar nossa cultura, abraços do 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Wonderful Jorge Ben Jor! Thanks guys!
I used to listen to him when I was a child. I like so much.
In 1963, Ben Jor practically "restarted" all the brazilian music portfoil with this song. "Mas que Nada" was his first single in life and he was just 18! You all have just heard the very first version of this worldwilde classic.
As you said Frank, it's kind of presentation card of Brazil. This song represents the country that we Brazilians want to be.
This song is very famous, I like it sung by Sergio Mendes, it's on his album Brasil 66, but the original music is with Jorge Ben Jor in 1963.
WE CALL IN BRAZIL SAMBAROCK!
HE INVETED THIS RHYTHM
JORGE BEN JOR IS ONE OF THE GREATEST !
Frank, theres a singer named Elsa Soares that has one of the best interpretations of this song/samba. Her voice is astonishing!
By the way,she is one that deserves a good reaction!Take note:)
jorge ben jor magico
He was still Jorge Ben in the 70s. Them change to Jorge Ben Jor, when he starts to have some international expression, because of George Benson! That's the history I remember...
Frank, this song is the first track, from Jorge Ben's first album, released in 1962!
He was one of the precursors of Rap in late 60's , When it das not inverted. He is a genius.
Jorge é maravilhoso 🥰
Uma das melhores músicas da MPB! Eu amo!
Jorge é muito bom de ouvir.
React Toquinho - Aquarela
Great!
Carnival cames from veneza or some place near, i think it's a party to celabrate the living of boats or something... But we definitly make it more epic here.
Jorge is the King!!!!😁

The musicians were the one of teh greatest also...
"Trio Mocotó" is amazing stuff
País tropical ( Jorge Ben Jor) is very cool music to hear
"Mas, que Nada!" is a song written and originally performed in 1963 by Jorge Ben on his debut album Samba Esquema Novo, which became Sérgio Mendes' signature song in his 1966 cover version. It was voted by the Brazilian edition of Rolling Stone as the fifth greatest Brazilian song. It was inducted to the Latin Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013.
Sérgio Mendes covered the song with his band Brasil '66 on their debut album Herb Alpert Presents Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 (1966). In the United States, the single reached number 47 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and number four on the Billboard Easy Listening chart. Outside of Brazil this 1966 version is more well known than Jorge Ben's original and, to many, the definitive version of the song.
In 2006 Mendes re-recorded the song, this time with The Black Eyed Peas and additional vocals by Mendes' wife, Gracinha Leporace, for his album Timeless. This version contains a sample of their 2004 hit "Hey Mama". The record performed well on many European charts. On the UK Singles Chart, the song entered at number 29 and peaked at number six on its second week on the chart. The song appeared as part of the EA Sports 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany and NBA Live 07 video games. This version was also included in the 2011 animated film Rio.

Every movie that has a scene in Brazil, have this song!
Jorge Ben is the actual author of Mas que Nada. This song is from the late 60's. It got worldwide known when it was recorded by Sergio Mendes, a famous brazilian musician living in the USA.
Two information related to Jorge Ben:
1. He had to change his artistic name to Jorge Benjor when he signed with the same company that already had George Benson because their names were so similar.
2. Jorge Ben and Tim Maia used to hang out together in the 50's and 60's because they lived in the same neighborhood in Rio.
This is the best reaction I have ever seen of you, VAlchiria! Really great for us watch you, guys, enjoying so naturally this fine piece from Jorge Ben Jor.

A música é maravilhosa!!!
@@ruthclaudia8936 sim! Maravilhoso! A melhor versão!!! Amo!!!
@Maria Clara Ruas Coelho , eu concordo.
BIG JORGE!
You got it guys. Amazing how music is, even tough it is another language you all are able to immediately feel the song in its essence.
Cheers
He is an icon in Brazil :) you will have the same reaction to most of his music.. it is imbedded into the fabric of Brazil
Grande Jorge ben jor ❤👏👏👏 amo essa música 😘
this song came out on his first album in 63 man....The vibe was bossa jazz because of the monment but the true is it was alredy Jorge Ben and his unique swing like as samba-rock
I'm so happy to see you guys sharing your joy with this eternal samba : maybe it's time to try to dance it , then you'll be prepared to come here ...
And to practice more samba dance...listen to one "carioca" samba group called Casuarina , singing "Disritmia" and "Cabelos Brancos" , both masterpieces.
About japanese animation/mangá in Brazil, you can say that is a part of our culture already. It started with the Tokusatsus (Ultraman, Jaspion, Changeman, Jiraya, CyberCops, etc) in the 70-80s. Then anime came in the 90s (the first one to explode was Saint Seiya). So, here in Brazil many of us love japanese animation/manga/culture (but is not the same animes that you guys like in Europe).
Gabriel, achaste o tal Lupendi?
@@Gabrielnobre AAAAAAAAA, quero ver
@@Nizoca Assiste Hajime no Ippo antes.
Hey, Frank! You guys mentioned Lupin III and, immediately, I remembered a channel called Ogeid that make videos of old animes with oldschool brazilians songs. There's a Lupin III one and others and they are very good
Wonderfully Jorge Ben😍 i like "O telefone " the powerfully song ,🤩🥰🥰
Jorge Ben is one of the most important Brasilian composer.
*"Mas que nada" is a song composed by Brazilian singer Jorge Ben Jor. Recorded in 1963 for his first album, Samba Scheme Novo, the song was Jorge Ben's (his stage name at the time) first big hit. "Mas Que Nada" is also one of the best known Brazilian songs abroad, particularly in the United States, where it was recorded by Brazilian pianist and composer Sérgio Mendes.*
*The innovative balance of the arrangements made the song a great success in Brazil. "Mas Que Nada" is not a song that fits into bossa nova or traditional samba. Not by chance, it took a long time to be accepted by the Brazilian music scene, being first recorded by the group Tamba Trio, in 1963.*
*The song's success in the United States came after a three-month tour in that country, in which Jorge Ben performed at universities and clubs, in 1965. The following year, Sérgio Mendes released a version of the song, on his album Herb Alpert Presents Sérgio Mendes & Brazil '66. That's when it became a big hit on the North American charts, reaching #4 on the "Adult Contemporary" chart and #47 on the "Pop Singles" chart - both on Billboard. The importance of Sérgio Mendes' version is translated by numerous versions made by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Al Jarreau, Trini Lopez and José Feliciano.*
*In 2006, "Mas Que Nada" was remixed and re-recorded by the group Black Eyed Peas with Sérgio Mendes, reaching #13 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.*
*The track was included in the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and WiiU video game "Just Dance 4", featuring only the vocals of the members of the Black Eyed Peas.*
*It was the opening theme of Estrelas, a talk show hosted by Angélica, produced and aired by Rede Globo, between 2006 and 2011.*
Jorge Ben Jor um dos the best of the Brasil...
Jorge Ben, in my opinion (i'm brazilian btw), is the greatest brazilian singer and composer ever. His stuff is just out of this world. He is trailed closely by other legends such as Gilberto Gil, Tim Maia and some others when it comes to musicality, but jesus christ, Ben is crazy good.
Good vibes lol.. He's amazing😍💜👏👏👏
Jorge é uma lenda viva!
Jorge Benjor is a brazilian (and international) music genious. In that specific music, one of the motives the outcome was so different and new at the time (60s) because he, a samba musician, hired, by chance, a jazz group for the recording sessions.
This album is from 1967. What Jorge Ben Jor was one of the first to fuse samba, jazz, rock, bossa nova and other Brazilian rhythms to create a very unique style. He became part of the Tropicalia movement, that mixed and sampled music styles from classical to tribal, European, Indigenous, European, avant guard, commercial... to canibalize and regurgitate music that was definitely Brazilian.
Linda música! Sempre levanta o nosso astral. Um clássico da nossa música! Kisses from Vitória ES Brasil, Frank. 🥰🥰🥰
Jorge Ben Jor ainda faz show, e quando faz, boa todo mundo pra dançar. O show dele é muito animado.
Look for the whole album of this song, "Samba Esquema Novo" (1963)
Adoooooro Jorge Ben !
Sooner you will reach 300k! Congratulations!
Jorge Ben o melhor !
This song was also rmemberd by the Nike airport commercial with the brazilian football team (and Cantoná).
Baden Powell " canto ossanha"
Saravá... Baden é bom demais.

Ele já reagiu a essa música.
Amo vocês três juntos ❤ ❤ ❤
Gênio carioca, assim como eu....salve Jorge.....
Very very good Frank
This music is from the sixties. It can be classified as a mix of samba and bossa nova. Sergio Mendes has recorded it as well. Look for the video "Sérgio Mendes and Brazil 66".😉
Muuuuuuuuuuuiuito bom o balanço que fazem
Just found your channel from the video reacting to Inutilismo, and I really gotta say that Jorge Ben Jor, Tom Jobim and Tim Maia are some of the names that most represent brasilian music, there was also Carmen Miranda that actually was born in Portugal but still made a lot of success here in Brazil and I highly suggest you to listen and react to her songs and now I'm going to watch all your videos looking forward to the next one.
