That’s an 87 Squier Bullet Stratocaster. The bridge quality is very poor in my opinion. No knife edges on the tremolo plate. The nut is plastic and the electronics are poor. I don’t know how you can say that guitar is better than a USA Strat. 😳

Put some heavy strings on it and the whole temerlo bends forward its a pig but it is a starting point to chop and bring back to life again with some decent bits

You have NO idea how the electronics are. You are right about the bridge. That's not a modern two point pivot trem. The pickups are ceramic and will NOT sound as good as a 64 Strat with alnicos.
But the body and and neck can ABSOLUTELY be as good as a modern USA Strat. You know nothing about guitars if you don't get that. It's just wood my friend.

I have a 92 MIK precision bass I got for my 30th birthday, I'm now 56 so you do the math. I used it as my 1st bass as a guitar was my main instrument. I quickly realized I was better on bass at least professionally. I played guitar in my 1st working band from 1996 to 2006 then I had the opportunity to play bass in my 2nd band from 2007 to 2010 so I was really developing my chops and in 2010 my 3rd working band and played until 2023, when I retired due to health reasons. By 2012 I had bought a Fender precision, and a used 2010 Fender jazz, a modern Yamaha 5 string that I never played and my old squire was relegated as my beater that I played right along with my fenders. I totally stripped the black finish and painted it seafoam green, which I dug for maybe a year. Then, I stripped it again & painted it Fiesta red, which I loved and it's faded to thar salmon pink color and that's where it is today. It's a little clunky compared to my fenders but I prefer the neck on the squire. I had zero problems playing on stage with a guitar player playing a Les Paul. No shame in my game. Still has the same p/ups and wiring harness though I did break the volume pot while putting the know back on. As it still works I just done the MacGyver fix with some gorilla tape around the post & it still works to this day.

I had a 80's boxer Squier mij it was amazing! It was better then any American Fender..
Mine was black with a black headstock,3 single coils & it weighed close to 8 lbs but it was astonishing, in the 90's we never expected them to become sought after, they were just cheap used guitars at that time and add to that the fact that I was a kid and had no idea what I really had, but I remember everything about that guitar and that says alot...

I had a buddy who borrowed his bosses bullet or squire Strat. Boss bot it for the kid, kid lost interest. So my pal borrowed it. I've bought and sold Strats since the 70's so I have owned quite a few, at least 50. This was really an exceptional guitar. It's funny you say you advised your pal to keep the guitar; I advised my friend to say the borrowed guitar got stolen and to go out to GtrCtr and just buy another one to replace it. They were $150 at the time, 35 years ago. With a little fretwork and better pickups, this was just as good as the '64 Strat I was playing at the time and it was a good '64.
I'd bet you even now, today, you could go to a guitar center and pick from 10 Korean or Chinese Strats, and the best one would be as good if not better than an average US made Strat other than the cheaper hardware & pickups. They ain't $150 any more, that's for sure.

I have a Young Chang ( that is the E series factory). They played a game of chicken with fender and lost, but they made AWESOME stuff for a few years. I have a Morris Hurrican ex-9 that is a plywood ( plywood is not bad) fender strat down to the 54 body shape. LOVE the neck.

The old 80's Bullet series Fender guitars made in Japan were superior instruments. Even the Fender executives and manufacturer leads in the USA were blown away by them back in the day. Fast-forward to the modern times and people are starting to realize this. Thus, the market value of these instruments have been trending upward for some time now. The old Bullet badge of shame has become a badge of honor now.

The only guitar I've ever bought new is a Squier infinity made in China (somewhere I read this is supposed to be Taiwan actually, but am not quite sure) from the late 90ies. The neck is like on your guitar and the tuners are stock and hold tone surprisingly well. Fret ends are very smooth, frets are rather small, but I like the neck better than my USA Fender neck. I only put Fender roller string trees on it and changed the SSS to HSS. It is a wonderful guitar, which I'll never sell. The bridge has 6 screws which I changed to floating without having tuning problems.
My tuners are different to yours and I will keep them stock. I also put a bone nut on it. That's all I did. Ah, and I put 9 strings except the high E
which is from a 10 set as the 9 broke right away in the very beginning. It's a wonderful piece of guitar now!

@@greyorbit Yeah, it's the neck I like too. Other parts are not so important to me.I prefer the Squier neck to my Fender USA strat's neck, which is broader and chunkier.
Also the tuners are very stable, still stock.
Only mods I did: a bone nut and a HSS figuration and 9s instead of 10s. Plays like butter.

its not a "fender squire" its just a squire, why do youtubers always call it "fender squire" like the fact fender is squires parent company is completely irrelevant when they are both made on other sides of the planet. im not shiting on squire i actually really like them and think they are better value per spec over their fender counterparts, i think they are on par with quality and in recent years i think they can stand on their own.
