Thanks for covering this man, I’ve absolutely been in love with this mod Wilson is pretty much the best sidekick ever. I never thought about leaving Wilson behind and the fact that I didn’t shows you how well he’s written and how you care for his overall well being which is critical in character development
Fun fact: The gauss pistol is actually far more OP than you think, as if you try to fire when you ammo is too low, Bad Cop/Adrian will just reload the gun, skipping the wait time for it to recharge.
The Gauss Pistol is definitely pretty amazing as a starting weapon. Basically having a hitscan shotgun-esque weapon with infinite ammo reminiscent of the Hivehand and Shockroach is VERY nice to have. Not to mention the fact that you can attack with all weapons while you hold Z to zoom in. Pretty nice for targeting things at range with the AR2 and Magnum :3
What I also like are the armored rebels and jump troopers, variety so as to make the rebels not bog standard. Along with using salvaged and converted Combine scanners to drive buggies when you are in vehicle sections. All these show that the Lambda Resistance are not some military faction like the HECU, but a Guerilla faction using whatever it takes to fight and survive.
The resistance were never portrayed as a proper military. They've always been a guerilla force since HL2. Almost all of their weapons are just taken off dead combine, and the ones that aren't are all makeshift like the crossbow and rocket launcher. Their uniforms are just modified versions of their combine issued citizen attire when they were subjects to their rule. They're the equivalent to partisan fighter forces in WW2, minus the ability to acquire proper equipment from countries who are allied with them and have their own legitimate armies, like how the british military would air drop guns and stuff to partisan fighters in France for example
@@Gameprojordan He never said they were portrayed as an actual military in HL2, he was just appreciating the extra details that really make the point clear that they aren’t an organized military.
I took Wilson to the end on my first playthrough on a hunch that there would be doors he could open like he was. Oh boy am I glad I did. Made the already great experience a million times better.
I thought Wilson did a good job making up for the extra effort to carry with the Wilson closets. He's thankfully invulnerable and trackable with the HUD so *UNLIKE THAT STUPID GNOME* I never had to deal with "aw crap where did I leave Wilson?" for more than a minute or so.
I forgot him after the fight at entropic control (before you get on the transport). I felt so bad that I reloaded and replayed the fight so I could upload him.
Entropy 2 is about as close to Episode 3 as we'll get and damn is it a trip. Guns are just as impactful as those from SMOD Tactical and the stupid amount of enemy variants dwarf even those from the HL2 Beta! Level design is pretty subjective, though. The brushwork detailing is nowhere close to that of even Episode 2 and I think that's the point as it's something of a bridge between Half-Life 2 and Episode 1, especially when some levels are ruined locations from HL2's Nova Prospekt so it feels super intentional. Sadly I had a catastrophic crash in Chapter 5 and my saves got corrupted which apparently is a problem some players had due to the mapbase code running out of memory for some saves due to the saved map having too many entities so I hope the news that a patch is gonna come on through and fix it up in a few weeks will get me right back into the swing of things, it's too good NOT to finish!
Just a tip about that bug, use “ent_remove_all prop_ragdoll” in the console before a load zone. I had console commands that would keep ragdolls, which usually isn’t a problem, but there are a few combat heavy sequences in EZ2 that leaves A LOT more ragdolls than most games do. I had to load a save before a whole combat encounter and had to change my console commands to make ragdolls disappear on their own after a while, longer than what it used to be, but not too long to the point where it’d corrupt my save.
I have played through several times now, and I WILL NOT leave Wilson behind. It's like making the choice between killing the sabouteur to save Jock or just getting on the chopper in Deux Ex. I just can't leave him. After the first play through you know where you can leave him.
I will 100% say that this is a much better storyline of a "Bad Guy POV" in Half Life and not only is it a mod where you play as a combine soldier. But also expands the world of half-life. I've always believed that the main theme of the half life series is freedom and enslavement while staying human. You can 100% say that Gorden is being enslaved forced to work with Gman after surviving Zen and defeating the final boss. Gman gives him an offer he "Cant refuse" hence why Gman is always watching him making sure he's doing what he is told. You can even see the ideas of Freedom and enslavement in the world building its Obv in Half Life 2. I won't go into details about ahem a certain "you fucked up my face" game as it fails in every way. But the story and writing of Entropy Zero 2 is really REALLY GOOD and can easily fit as a half-life 2 ep 3. Adrien as a character is much better than Mitchel from HDTF. He isn't edgy and over the top like Mitchel. He makes one liner but also shows moments of psychotic emotions and his story is really good which helps the player get invested in Adrien and his development over time especially if you bring Wilson along is a treat. It is so worth it to actually carry Wilson with you throughout the entire game and the best part if Wilson dies at any moment the game doesn't load a recent save or stop. Adrien literally goes "Oh shit he's dead oh well" and it continues without wilson. The inclusion of Apature at first kinda felt weird for me but I grew to like the inclusion and help the that portal games and half-life games are in the same universe. Adrien really fits well because he easily follows the themes of what half-life has already set up. He doesn't try to change the themes he improves on them and it works so well.
this game blew me away. at first it was just an ok half life mod with an ok main character with ok quips and an ok talking companion cube (but like... really good gameplay) but then the 3650's relationship and conversations with Wilson started to really humanize him and I just fell in love with both characters. And the inconvenience of having to carry Wilson added to that. it added frustration to the gameplay to be sure, but it allowed for panic to set in if you forgot or missplaced Wilson. I don't think I'd have been nearly as attached to him if I had to just carry him on my back. Its crazy that some players might just leave Wilson behind and completely miss that story element.
great video, I just saw it after finishing the game. I feel different about Chamber Catacomb chapter, I really liked it, it was one of my favorites, I understand that the gameplay changes from the rest of the game, but I found it to add variaty, it could be because I really like portal games a lot, I like the crossover, meeting wilson, playing more of a puzzle but having the pressure of the alien, the chapter got me hooked with the game, also the scape sequence was fun, opening that forth door, I didn't see that comming, Overal I enjoy this mod a lot, thanks for covering in your video
I remember playing the first Entropy Zero then forgot about until steam was like "TRY THIS ONE!" when Entropy Zero 2 came out. Loved the mod so much, the alternative endings and post credit screen makes me beg for Entropy Zero 3 xD
Couldn't agree more, I've been a massive Half Life fan from the start and this mod has made my year. Just like any Half Life game as soon as you complete it you just want more and more
Gonomes are still scary as all hell man, they're far stronger than your usual headcrab zombie and with that size he could demolish a whole Combine unit thanks to his strength and speed.
Looking at the actual details of the plot and the surrounding story elements... if you're aware of "Epistle 3", or you're aware of any of the ideas surrounding the Half-Life 3/Episode 3 that never came to be, this is basically some closure for the whole series. The main plot is relatively simple, but the story hooks into Half-Life 2, Portal, and even Half-Life: Alyx, and at no point overtly contradicts what little we knew about the way the story was officially going to go. Everything makes sense, and everything connects up in a neat and subtle way. In other words, if you haven't played this yet and you've always wanted a proper finale to the Half-Life series, arguably this is it.
Afaik, releasing a Source mod is free but selling a full game made in Source costs hundreds of thousands of dollars; you pay to Valve for the engine and then Havok for the physics etc.
I hope Jarek will take a look at LOVAC 2063, ITS A MOD THATS GOTEN PRETTY far since the alpha, which was pretty good, but it still looked like goofy goldsrc, its come a long way since then, and now it looks pretty good.
@@protocetid Late reply, but there actually is. Early on in the game, turrets won't attack you and Wilson explains this as them thinking Aiden is one of them.
People can hate on this mods writing all they want, but when Bad Cop was clearly as sad as I was about Wilson dying, and saying goodbye to him, I knew this story was great. And you know why it’s even better? Because that incredible moment, all of the great moments between Wilson and Bad Cop, are fully optional. You can leave him whenever you want. The game lets you abandon him. It’s confident enough in itself to let you miss one of the strongest friendships I’ve ever seen in a video game narrative. And that’s why I think it’s good enough to get some kind of official acknowledgment from Valve.
wilson is still better than the fucking gnome that falls of your car 5 times a minute and doesnt have any interesting dialogue also gonome part of that chapter is quite impressive if you think about it it is made in half life game that doesnt speciliese in this kind of stuff and is not vr so ye not great but it works and is impressive on that kind of engine

Mitchell dies from his wounds in a hospital, but is brought back to life by the G-Man after promising to kill Freeman. Waking up, Mitchell finds the hospital overrun by zombies. I've started playing this today and it's very fascinating. Although it feels strange playing as the bad guy after all I have been through in HL2.
they missed a golden opportunity by not calling the vortiguant-speak "Vortuguese"
During my first playthrough, I wanted to bring Wilson, but the damn APC despawned him when it was airdropped.
I lost him a few times but loaded a save file every time, even if I had to lose 5 to 10 mins of progress :')
You can play fetch with the hunter in the parking lot after you first meet it.
I loved this mod so much. it almost felt a little like episode 3, getting to see the arctic and the borealis and aperture in a half life game and all.
Fantastic review on a fantastic mod. Bout to download both 1 and 2 tonight
one of the best HL2 mods out there, bar none
Couldn't agree more, I've been a massive Half Life fan from the start and this mod has made my year. Just like any Half Life game as soon as you complete it you just want more and more
They should release it as a standalone mod on steam
I was actually in this stream and we talked about cod cold War and how I can't run black mesa or whatever its called
I wished it was Canon so bad, this mod is Half-Life 2: Opposing Force
I've been playing Entropy Zero 2 and it's amazing
Gonomes are still scary as all hell man, they're far stronger than your usual headcrab zombie and with that size he could demolish a whole Combine unit thanks to his strength and speed.
WIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON! - Bad Cop/Aiden
This mod is a blast!
The flying creature is called a “Stuka Bat”
Mod? Brother this is GOTY material
Its one of best Mods iv played in years
Hunt Down The Entropyman
hunt down the refund. oh wait its free
Funny how this mod includes a proper "night vision" that actually makes the map brighter than the mod opfor which is a lame green flashlight
this feels like fear in the source engine
Hey Jarek can you play 7554? There's also a canceled sequel and the drama is pretty funny too
Afaik, releasing a Source mod is free but selling a full game made in Source costs hundreds of thousands of dollars; you pay to Valve for the engine and then Havok for the physics etc.
Good thing Vphysics Jolt is starting to be a viable alternative to Havok for Source. Might enable developers to avoid paying Havok for a license.
Gonna wait to watch this until I actually finish the game. I still need to get around to doing that. Think I will this afternoon
Yes, indeed.
Wilson Vs. Companion Cube
TimeSplitters 2 Theme
It's a shame that for some reason my old lap gets really laggy with half life 2 mods, i really love what ez2 does
What a bad time to fuck up my pc
Edit: I thought that the cheap Jeff was a zombie alien assassin from hl2 beta
Downloading right now!
I hope Jarek will take a look at LOVAC 2063, ITS A MOD THATS GOTEN PRETTY far since the alpha, which was pretty good, but it still looked like goofy goldsrc, its come a long way since then, and now it looks pretty good.
Nice video, love mods for games.
Have you looked at the total chaos mod for doom 2?
Mental Omega will always be my #1 mod for any game of all time, but Entropy : Zero 2 will always be my #1 HL2:EP2 mod of all time.
At times it feels like FEAR 1 combat ngl
I was wondering when this as gonna come out.
I shall download it
are there any jokes about the similarities between the Combine Elite’s head (might not be a helmet since it’s a synth) and the Aperture Sentry Turret?
unfortunately no
Yeah I know I’m 2 months late.
@@ic0nic707 heh don’t sweat it
@@protocetid Late reply, but there actually is. Early on in the game, turrets won't attack you and Wilson explains this as them thinking Aiden is one of them.
They allowed hunt down the Freeman on steam paid!
Meanwhile a mod like this is free
People can hate on this mods writing all they want, but when Bad Cop was clearly as sad as I was about Wilson dying, and saying goodbye to him, I knew this story was great.
And you know why it’s even better? Because that incredible moment, all of the great moments between Wilson and Bad Cop, are fully optional. You can leave him whenever you want. The game lets you abandon him. It’s confident enough in itself to let you miss one of the strongest friendships I’ve ever seen in a video game narrative.
And that’s why I think it’s good enough to get some kind of official acknowledgment from Valve.
One out of two best ACTION mods for HL2, the other one being Black Mesa
tbh entropy zero 2 is tied with hl2 for me, i consider it an entire game its so good
Do you like warhammer 40k or killing alien bugs? You should try out Firewarrior and Starship Troopers
Will you play 7554?
This is funny... I JUST downloaded EZ and EZ2. I plan on playing those after playing Black Mesa.
wilson is still better than the fucking gnome that falls of your car 5 times a minute and doesnt have any interesting dialogue also gonome part of that chapter is quite impressive if you think about it it is made in half life game that doesnt speciliese in this kind of stuff and is not vr so ye not great but it works and is impressive on that kind of engine
I have a couple of gripes.
1) The first mod had a Firing Range but this one doesn't, for some reason.
2) They brought back the Bullsquids but not also the Houndeyes. Uh, why?
Other than those two... Yep, definitely Mod of the Year. Perhaps even one of the greatest HL2 *of all time.*
I do miss the grav gun but that’s a freeman exclusive so eh.
Kinda feels like levels might suffer from it either way
only one that the game ceases to respond on the second chapter?
Quick correction, it's not Adrian, it's Aiden.
Great video tho~
Been loving the mod too. 👍
That hunter stays way too close though
I would've love if you can carry Wilson like how you did with Glados so that you can get the dialogue without making it tedious
loololol its like carring the gnome
I genuanly don't even think calling this a mod is fair anymore. In my mind it's a fun half-life game even if its fan made.
I just want to say I love watching your videos but they make me sad at the same time. I get the big sad when I hear the timepslitters menu music in your videos :(
hunter fren is best character :)
How is there no Wilson backpack? This can't be real
I hate that I can't buy this game.
From the worst build ever made (Hunt Down The Freeman), to the best mod ever in 4 years.
hey
hey hey hey
I loved this mod but my only complaint is your character voice gets annoying after awhile
Fart mod, lol
Game is not as good as Hunt Down The Freeman.
Hunt Down the Freeman is a 2018 first-person shooter video game. Developed by Royal Rudius Entertainment, it is an independently developed unofficial instalment to the Half-Life franchise.
The game was released to a negative reception, receiving criticism for its numerous bugs, poor design, and allegations of copyright infringement.
….is this word salad an attempt at bait?

Plot
USMC Sergeant Mitchell Shephard (Mick Lauer), brother of Adrian Shephard, is sent to Black Mesa as part of the HECU to cover up the recent resonance cascade and quell the resulting alien invasion. Following some heavy combat, Mitchell is attacked and severely injured by a crowbar-wielding man in an orange suit, whom he believes to be Gordon Freeman. Mitchell dies from his wounds in a hospital, but is brought back to life by the G-Man after promising to kill Freeman. Waking up, Mitchell finds the hospital overrun by zombies. Nick (a National Guard soldier) rescues Mitchell from the zombies and reveals to Mitchell that there is an ongoing alien invasion. He tells him to meet colonel cue and gives him a radio. On his way Mitchell meets a Black Ops member Adam, getting into an argument with him. After arguing, Mitchell reluctantly agrees to work with him under the agreement that they would part ways later. Learning that Earth has surrendered to the Combine, Mitchell and other soldiers flee New Mexico, but on their way, they are attacked by the Combine. Everyone except Nick, Adam, and Mitchell is killed by the Combine. They meet up with the rangers and rescue survivors and recruit them. After getting on sea, they're attacked by the Combine, which results in the captain, Roosevelt, dying. After his death, Mitchell becomes captain of the ship, reorganizing into a private army on a series of offshore platforms.
@@longlivethesheet4561 yes i think so
Troll comment
James, frieeend, buddyyyy, paaaaaaaalll.. frieeeeeeeeeeeeend....
That was a poor attempt at trolling.
The drivable APC was taken from 2010 HL2 mod; Human Error.
that explains why the credit says human error team.
I remembered that from Bolloxed's walkthrough
