What Keith said is important. What value does a new boat add to your life? Your current boat is set up how you like it. You could spend money refitting your current boat that would be more economical. The new boats with the rig so much higher will be a significant loss in performance. Spending more time going from A to B probably isn’t something you want in a new boat.

Glory, you are absolutely correct about receiving and sending "Snail Mail" It is sweet but most of all intentional, I have saved every correspondence, letters, Birthday cards, Fathers Day cards etc. that I have ever received from my children (I am 73). I even have most of the letters my Parents exchanged during WWII. Its all family legacy and priceless. To me anyway.

Wow! Did not realize how the new HH Gone with the Wynns boat is a Hobbit Boat. But those are the sacrifices for performance. When they are walking around they look so normal and the boat spacious. How tall is Keith? Glory, go sing in squares, cafes, churches w Finn as your guitarist. In an Italian restaurant (US) My old roommate just did some improv Opera. A very rich couple told the waitress, could you ask her to sing some more and I will pay for their dinner. There were 4 of them eating w wine Sing in any empty church. Share that blessed voice! A few spares fender bladders is never a bad idea. Good thing about the bladders is...if you poke a small hole it it, you can pull it out, put a tire patch on it and shove it back in the cover.

I would go see one for myself. All boats come with compromises... I doubt there are many ~44ft cats that sail as well as the HH44... But a used Outremer 45 probably does. I would check out one of those as well. A used one is probably less money compared ot a new HH. And the Outremer 45 was 'good enough' for Sailing La Vagabonde...
Yeah but those guys ate toe cheese and the girl lived on bean sprouts. It's a fast boat no doubt, but like Keith says, sometimes being comfortable is reallll nice like. @@angela1984a
There's something magical about receiving snail mail. Aka postcard or letter. It means the person has taken the time to both think of you and type more than a few words. There is a lot of thought that goes into the process of writing it and sharing wherever they are.. or whatever they are going through. Love it :)
I will admit. I watch your videos 2,3 times. Am I the only one? I watch on iPhone. Then go home and watch on huge screen with hubby. Then find myself watching again. Addicted. It would be cool to get a new boat. But we are fine with ya all staying in your boat. Fixing. ❤
I'd like you all to consider something in the 70 foot range. Keep people on the boat year round. It makes the episodes considerably better. I stopped watching the Wynns over a year ago. Love 'em, but they don't have guests. Nobody is THAT entertaining. :P

Snail mail is the best. I write hand written letters to a friend for over 25 years old. We even send printed photos to one another with our letters. I love old typewriters and think that’s also a better than email.
Another excellent production. Glory, it's even better to receive snail mail that is written in cursive. Handwriting makes it much more personal. Typewritten letters are still impersonal. One Canadian to another 😀

Gabby is right, there are times when it's easier to roll a card in a typewriter and type something short and sweet which can be done in the time you can turn on your computer, fire up Word or some other word processing program and format it to the size of a 3x5 card. No I'm not a Luddite,, I've owned a home computer since before the term PC was coined, but there are some things that are just better in an analog world. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

Same. Like a duvet. LOL. She was all like, it's super easy but didn't demonstrate it that we saw. But even if it's a hassle, it opens up room on their boat when the new ones are deflated. They aren't going into marinas that much. They use the tender.
Great to see Nikki and Jason!! Privilege makes one of the best cats out there and that one you were on was stunning but at the end of the day Keith is right. At $3.6M on a new boat you are going to spend even more outfitting it the way you want it and that’s going to cost more $ and more of your time. I love your 585 it’s a perfect family world cruising boat it has the best layout but I can also we the appeal of new and shinny as they are stunning!

I was on an Alaskan cruise last week and was out whale watching one day. Micah from the early episodes and who was a buddy boat with you and her family says, "Hello." Very lovely young lady and spoke very highly of the Whitakers.
Adding value to your life. Very subjective idea. A deep dive into pros and cons of different boat layouts and features for future boat owners would be nice. And for the love Keith, put a rectangular sink in for Renee. 9” deep with a tall faucet. It’s a simple upgrade that greatly improves quality of life.
And look, it’s Nikki & Jason !!! That is one of the most stunning Zatara moments that I can remember. Which reminds me of when I saw Nikki & Jason once do the same thing, sundowners while watching videos of the Delos crew.

(Not that Keith cares much about that.) The 580 is actually closer to 62' in length, while the 585 is just shy of 56'.

Don't fall for it Keith!!! You like what you have, it does everything you need....and newer isn't always better. You've got Zatara all tuned how you like, put blood sweat and tears into her and she's been good to you. I vote that you only trade Zatara in if the kids decide to go do their own thing and a different boat would make running it single handed that much easier as you get older.
I see that Renee NEVER got to enjoy family stuff or places, now she has a worker to do stuff for her so she can do all that!! Hat's off to Keith because now he can dance with his beautiful wife or Hold her hand while someone else holds the Fkg camera or remembers what they did that day while Keith and renee took on too much wine and ended up in a $10 30 minute room rental!!
The new boat is awesome with the kitchen upstairs, which is genius because it didn’t need to be downstairs before. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all nice and new and clean. Has that nice outdoor eating area you could put a little tent over the top of it.
Having just read all the comments below...I do agree the new Privilege catamarans are just beautiful and it would be so wonderful to see one getting around on RUclips. That said your current boat is amazing, and we enjoy watching your inspiring intrepid adventures. Another great episode - thanks!!!

Out of everyone that I follow (Wynn's, Sailing LaVagabonde, you guys and Adventures of an Old Sea Dog - Barry Perrins) yours is the one I'd want if I wanted to sail with family or friends. Written letter is more special/caring than a text or e-mail. It shows more thought and feeling. Plus, everyone loves receiving a letter in the mail.

Great to see Nikki and Jason!! Privilege makes one of the best cats out there and that one you were on was stunning but at the end of the day Keith is right. At $3.6M on a new boat you are going to spend even more outfitting it the way you want it and that’s going to cost more $ and more of your time. I love your 585 it’s a perfect family world cruising boat it has the best layout but I can also we the appeal of new and shinny as they are stunning!

I was on an Alaskan cruise last week and was out whale watching one day. Micah from the early episodes and who was a buddy boat with you and her family says, "Hello." Very lovely young lady and spoke very highly of the Whitakers.
Adding value to your life. Very subjective idea. A deep dive into pros and cons of different boat layouts and features for future boat owners would be nice. And for the love Keith, put a rectangular sink in for Renee. 9” deep with a tall faucet. It’s a simple upgrade that greatly improves quality of life.
And look, it’s Nikki & Jason !!! That is one of the most stunning Zatara moments that I can remember. Which reminds me of when I saw Nikki & Jason once do the same thing, sundowners while watching videos of the Delos crew.

@@zolitariglussey6302 Ummm, except the new 580 is WAY better than their old boat. Better layout, lots better storage, much brighter and more spacious and will definitely sail better. (Not that Keith cares much about that.) The 580 is actually closer to 62' in length, while the 585 is just shy of 56'.

You've got Zatara all tuned how you like, put blood sweat and tears into her and she's been good to you. I vote that you only trade Zatara in if the kids decide to go do their own thing and a different boat would make running it single handed that much easier as you get older.

I see that Renee NEVER got to enjoy family stuff or places, now she has a worker to do stuff for her so she can do all that!! Hat's off to Keith because now he can dance with his beautiful wife or Hold her hand while someone else holds the Fkg camera or remembers what they did that day while Keith and renee took on too much wine and ended up in a $10 30 minute room rental!!
The new boat is awesome with the kitchen upstairs, which is genius because it didn’t need to be downstairs before. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all nice and new and clean. Has that nice outdoor eating area you could put a little tent over the top of it.

Out of everyone that I follow (Wynn's, Sailing LaVagabonde, you guys and Adventures of an Old Sea Dog - Barry Perrins) yours is the one I'd want if I wanted to sail with family or friends. Zatara II may not be new, trendy or fast but she's a proven vessel. If your boat goes on the market, I'll just pray I win the lottery because I want it
