Sadly, she wasn't able to take her skating to these heights; growth, injuries, lost audiences at times prevented her from ascending to the state she was meant to achieve. But...she has, nevertheless, left a legacy for us to enjoy. That cannot be denied.
Yes. I looked at her 1994 Winter Olympics short and long programs, and she was doing things no one had done before, but now everyone’s doing them. I always looked forward to seeing her skate, because you never knew what type of program she’d do. Her originality was unparalleled.
I think the elite skaters had to learn all that, but the artistic is where she is unrivaled, her ability to flow state in dance on skates is something that only someone who has grew up on ice could ever be possible

World & Olympic level figure skating is sport. Therefore, it rightfully emphasizes quick turns, high leaps and intricate technical details. Show skating is about entertainment & artistry touching people, sending a message or moving peoples emotions whether its drama or comedy. I don't want to see artistry over-represented in the Olympic arena, it should rightly concentrate on sport & athleticism.
I've not seen this program before. No, the jumps were not perfect, but this is definitely an ongoing testimony of her continuing creativity and spirit as an artist on the ice, in a way that only could be done by Oksana. 👍🏽❤️
Does it look like to anyone else that her errors were intentional? The opening to all of her jumps looked off, really off, but they also kinda fit the performance and they looked controlled. I truly think that after all the years that she is one of the greatest skaters to ever grace the art. She truly is perfection given form.
I actually wondered that myself. She was doing this kind of erratic, unsteady thing throughout, and it seemed unlikely that she'd skate that way by accident.
It’s highly unlikely that she would make those mistakes on purpose. After she dropped Galina as a coach she had some major shifts in her lifestyle (she didn’t practice as much, she started drinking and got a DUI, etc.). I still think her performances were beautiful but she lost a lot of her power on the ice.

Oksana je LEGENDA stejně jako Peggy Fleming, Sasha Cohen, Carolina Kostner, Yuna Kim.. Rusové na led dnes vypouští děvčátka, holčičky... děti. Nestanou se LEGENDAMI. so basically, back them skaters dance a lot on ice, now it's not that much of a dance during routine..
This is a pro championship(which do not exist anymore), u see there is a spotlight. It s different from competion skating.
