Dude! I have been thinking the same thing for years. Is it just me or did learning to fly rip this song off?
I don't like mentioning foo fighters and bjm in the same sentence but it had to be done. Dave Grohl is a cool guy and his drumwork is undeniably amazing(especially with QOTSA) but the Foo fighters are generic top forty rock and I have never been impressed with them. BJM has changed my life and the way I see music.

@scumgrinder i like the first version the best. the one released on the 7" candy floss single, b/w hide&seek / methodrone. and that would be a. newcombe above.

Just to say even if they did take them to court, they wouldn't get anywhere. The singing melody in learn to fly is very different. Although the chords are the same it would be very difficult to win a case of someone using the same chords. Be like taking someone to court saying ''You used G and C''. Remember everyone takes influence from something. Your idols take influence from their idols. Listen to the BJM song Monkey puzzle and then listen to The Small Faces song You better believe it.

Yeah Yard birds and when jokers attack. Everyone steals to a certain extent. I dont mind the foo's i think the first album was his best work i prefered the dirty gritty sound to it but i do like a few others on the later albums. I think he has a good ear for melody and writing music that appeals to the masses. Music interests me regardless of the band to be honest in the way that how different musicians take influence from different art and culture and place it into their own.

Everyone steals though nothing is original. But thats the beauty of it. Listen to Greenday - Warning and The Kinks - Picture Book. Also check out Oasis - Fade away and Wham - Freedom. Will make ya laugh!
