Glad Mike is healthy and well. Vet visits are important. Lost my beloved Minnie in October, she looked just like Mike. My heart still aches. Miss her sooo much 🥺
Mikey. You were a real trooper! Dad, the thing I would suggest is that you ask the vet to do a pressure check in both of his eyes. It is painless, quick, and if he has glaucoma, there are drops to keep him from losing his sight. We adopted a little 19 year old Shih Tzu who had glaucoma in both eyes. Our vet said that, if it had been caught early, she would not have been blind. It happens very quickly to dogs. Within a matter of days getting it in one eye, the other eye will also develop it. Even though she was blind, I put the drops in both eyes twice a day. For about a year or two, we feel like she had maybe just like a pinhead sized area that she could see just a little light and shadows, so she didn't bump into things a lot. She was also completely deaf. Our other two senior Shih Tzu were very kind to her and let her sleep with them in their bed. She was over 21 when we had to have her euthanized. We lost all 3 to old age within 18 months. We have two more now. The house was so empty without our pups. Even my husband who swore "never again" because it hurts so much when we lose them, is thrilled to have Willow and Cuddles in our home. Have a great trip!
What a nice veterinarian! My girl loves broccoli too! She has a tiny cataract in her remaining eye that we are watching in the hopes that it doesn't grow bigger. So glad this was a positive consult with a good health exam for sweet Mike! 🤗
What a great veterinarian. You're very fortunate to have such a kind, thorough doc, who explains everything so well.
