  • Hey everyone, it's MacKenzie!
The home study seems to be the most daunting part of the adoption process, but you don't need to be afraid!
I'll debunk some myths and misconceptions while also sharing helpful information to help ease your mind. Each state and country have different requirements, but this was our experience within the India program.
I hope this helps answer your questions if you're considering adoption, or if you're trying to better understand the adoption process with someone you may know. I hope this information helps your home study go as smoothly as possible!
Please watch our first adoption video if you'd like to hear how God placed adoption on our hearts. Thanks for watching!

@19:36* The training videos need to be completed before home study is completed, not before home study begins. The second portion of videos needed to be completed before adoption was finalized.
*I forgot to mention passports! 3rd party fees also include the price to apply/receive passports. Home study fees do not include this additional cost.
    *Biometrics/Fingerprinting costs: $50 per adult
*For our psych evals, we needed them completed by a licensed psychiatrist, not a licensed psychologist. They are different!
And... if you were freaking out while I mentioned the fact that your savings account information needs to be documented, don't be afraid! We did not have a cushioned savings account. We didn't have much funds saved away, and we were still approved!
