- use db : switch to db database (exist or not exist is ok . If not exist when you add collection it will create for you)
- cls : clear screen
- show collections : show all collections in current database
- db : show your current database name
- help : list all option command
- name = "yoshi" : create variable in shell
- exit : stop shell
- mongosh : start shell

if i make a new databse using use let's say use abc, and then i do show dbs, why does it only show admin config and local? is it because the abc database is empty?

Have you tried to see the varible path stablished for the console? Maybe be sure that the variable paths are the same for the shell and the mongo shell
