    As a beginner who doesn't understand music theory or chord choices, may I ask why you chose the 3rd fret chord position for G, as opposed to the open position?
    Is it more or less one of those cases where "this chord just sounds better than that one"?

      Hi Alex, I don't understand music theory either. I chose the barre chord version because it is easier to get a consistent muted strum sound using this fretting position when I play the rhythm (I just lift my index finger, which creates the barre, off the fretboard a fraction when needed). It is fine to use an open G though. All the best - Alan 😊
