Kona Low Winter Storm in Hawaii

- Many of our viewers on Hawaii Island won't get to see this video tonight, because many don't have power due to the strong winds we have been getting knocking trees down and causing outages. The wind also caused some amazing storm waves today and we went out to check it out.
We take you to Kailua Bay, the sea wall and the Kailua Pier to show you how the wind whipped waves were coming up and onto the pier and smashing against the seawall to toss up water that was kicked by 45 mph wind gusts into oncoming traffic..and some folks who enjoyed the dousing.
What started out as a blizzard warning for the upper elevations and summits, turned into a tropical storm that has affected much of the entire island and we are not out of the woods yet.
To stay safe, keep an eye out for alerts from the County Civil Defense Agency. Here is their website and you can sign up for alerts. www.hawaiicoun....
Flooding is expected and we are still looking at two more days of this storm. When its done, we should have over a foot of snow on Mauna Kea...yes, we will go up.
Stay safe, folks on the island!

My wife and I stayed in Kona on our honeymoon nearly 50 years ago. Yup, it’s changed a bit, but it’s still Kona and it’s still Hawaii so nothing else matters. Thanks for the memories 👍
:)
I have never seen waves like that at the seawall, just at the end of Alii and Old Airport. I am Kona-boy forever even though im PRESENTLY in FINLAND. I shall return...Keep up the good Kona vids!
In Maui nov 6-13. It was amazing. Glad we missed this storm.
I flew out on Sunday. Running up the ramp to the plane in high winds & heavy rain! Thankfully to have made it out safely 🙏
My God my God! We just got out on Monday morning! Preying for this beautiful peaceful, people! God be there.
I LOVE Kailua-Kona storms.. big soft raindrops. 💞🤙✝️💯
All that weather and a big Great White cruising the Kona coast. What a year.
Insane to see Kona like this. I'm so glad I was there at the end of July and beginning of August, although the island was covered with smoke from the big fire then. Mahalo Nui Loa for sharing your video.
The only time it was worst at that pier is when the Tsunami Hit that area in 2011.
Wow, thats the area we got off the tenders from the cruise ship. Can’t imagine being on a cruise during this. Ocean is so strong in Kona anyway. Stay safe
I’ve been through these storms for years🤙🌺
Just booked my end of May trip for a whole week! I cannot wait to be there
WOW! Pretty Wild. I remember sitting on that sea wall when there was hardly any traffic on Ali'i Drive.
The storm created whiteout condition under the water too. Reef was hammered.
Thanks! Love seeing the storm and hope no one or businesses were hurt!🤙🏼
Great video. Thanks Julie.
Thank you for the video
Wow.. Prayers for all of us in the STATE of Hawai'i. Be safe everyone. 🙏 Prayers
Crazy big storm but it’s not the first or the last to hit us. We do have weather.
Wowza! That would stress me out having my car that close like the van toward the end of the video...and oooh my gosh those kids getting in the water 😳 they're having the time of their life, but I'm so surprised they were allowed to do that....eek!!
Yes, I thought they were going to smash up against the seawall. But apparently they did not.
Pretty much there was flash floods and in Hilo. There were power outages. I’m in Honolulu area. The water was high. Been here since Nov and staying til jan. Was there in the summer of 2021. This is quite unusual weather. This didn’t happen in 2020 when I was here for 2 mths. 🌎. Glad it’s safe and stopping raining.
It was a crazy storm my first day 12/3/21 here!!! Winds were insane and waves were amazing!! I’m still here in Maui 12/7/21 it’s gorgeous now on road to Hana the run off in the rainforest are swollen!!! Beautiful! I head out on 12/9/21.. wonderful vacation!

Mother Nature is amazing 💗
I'm digging this!! Wish I was there!
Yep, looks familiar. We were there too and had to fly out in that weather just after midnight on Sunday
Wow! Thanks for sharing.
Hoping for better weather next week, when we visit Kona! At least the temps will be above 0!!!!
Damn traveling their for the second time with two little ones on the 18th of this month. Should I cancel ? What’s your thought
We are not expecting any odd weather events at this point..don;t cancel if that is what you are worried about.
@@365Hawaii thanks u so much I was freaking out
Insane footage! Thx 😎🤙
Absolutely amazing what can happen in a month. We were just there for our wedding at the end of October, and it was in the low 80's and mild winds almost the whole time we were there! Definitely stay safe!
WET!🍍🌅🌺💧SPLASHED! PACIFIC 🌊🌬️
OMG it rained in the tropics, OMG!! LOL
We land in Kona on the 16th...Should I worry about the effects of this or is it likely a return to normal will start creeping back slowly? Thanks for all your videos, they have been vital to my planning!
It'll prolly pass by then. Wouldn't worry too much about it
I’m flying in tomorrow 😭
Weird to see cold winter weather in Hawaii.

Because this is not so unusual. Welcome to medias exaggerated series. Kona sees this weather 2/3 times a year.
Free car wash!!!
With global reset this could be the norm💩✌️
The devil is a liar amd mad his ti.e is short! But God, Oh dont get me started is who we serve not any man
Darn those Stellular Cores (Stars) got bigger and are going to destroy the earth. Be prepared, have Jesus in your hearts. John 3:16.
The weather is horible here all the time
Dont come here
🤙
Hawaii is beautiful but with climate change its future is most likely bleak as well as New Orleans,Texas,Cali. Safer states get ready as more people will be coming in the years to come.Wth is wrong with these people storm watching🙄
Al Gore said Florida would be underwater five years ago. They are lying to you. It's called "weather."
Thank you for sharing this video. I hope that I can meet you in person in the near future. Aloha
It’s typical weather for this time of year.
Cool video, thanks for sharing, BTW, anyone planning to open the old Splashers restaurant?
It is open. The name of the restaurant is, “Big Kahuna”. If you liked Splashers you will love it 🤙
Last nite the 6th was rainy as f*%k in Honolulu.
