Thank you I’ve just found my love of 25 ct and have restarted 5 from 16/18ct I am so going to change them to tent stitch it’s faster and so great to actually see the difference all of those look wonderful
My tent😅 stitch😅 😅back is to bulky from carrying a long thread back to the beginning now its so thick the needle is very difficult to go through. How am i suppose to start and end withou
I'm new to stitching and I only do stamped kits. I'm working on a 14 count kit right now (my first 14 count kit--I started with 11 count) and I'm going to try the tent stitch. I was wondering if it would look bad to switch in the middle and you answered that too! The section I'm about to start on is white floss on white canvas--tent stitch seems like a no-brainer....I'm super excited--I'm hopeful that going faster will allow me to do more kits which is a big YAAY!! Thanks. Once again, one of your videos has helped me so much!
Aw you're welcome, glad my videos are being useful to someone 😀 what I would say though is be careful on the bigger stitches/lower counts with tent stitch, because you can see differences much clearer. So if I was doing a 14 ct project I wouldn't switch half way through because that might be quite noticeable. But definitely with the really high counts like 18-20 and above, where the stitches just look like little dots anyway to the eye, you shouldn't notice a difference. Try out a little section and see how it goes, and with a little section you can always take it out again if you don't like it. Good luck 😀
Just awesome work. Your stitching, WOW. Thanks for showing and explaining I appreciate that. Nice showing completed pieces done in the tent stitch. Currently on 11 count. I will try on a 14 count. Thanks again. Really enjoy your videos.
Thanks so much for this! All I find is 1 over 2 and 2 over 2 linen/even weave videos and I really want to do some of my larger projects as a tent stitch! Did you do yours on the 28 count over 2 over 1? It looks great and I'd love to finish some of my huge full coverage pieces in my lifetime!
You're welcome, yes most of mine are on either 25ct or 28ct with 2/1 tent stitch. I actually prefer 25ct now though because the 28ct can get a bit crowded and more difficult to get the needle through. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy your stitching.
Thank you for showing your beautiful pieces. I am going to start a piece with tent stitch. Do you do the continental stitch that is reversed top to bottom every other row so the fabric doesn’t warp?
No, I just do the stitches any way in any direction. I've never honestly had a problem with warping to be honest, although I have heard people talking about it in the Facebook groups, but its never happened to me. I think that if you do cross country and stitch like me, all over the place and in all different directions (cross country) it must mean that it all balances itself out in the end. You'll definitely enjoy your stitching more with tent stitch, because you get more done each day and you see quicker progress. Enjoy!
@@malaquitastitches Thank you. I was a little concerned about keeping track of which direction I should be going. 😀. I do cross country, too. I’m looking forward to getting started.
Thank you for this, I always have done 2 over 2 cross and am looking to doing a full coverage of my design and I like the look of tent stitch and have been looking for this information. Am I understanding you, you do tent stitch on 28 count aida or is it evenweave? Sorry for my ignorance.
You're welcome, I use easycount gridded aida, sorry I'm not sure what evenweave is, is that linen? You know more than me! 😀 I've never dared to try linen, always used the material that's a bit stiffer with well defined holes on the 4 corners, so I think that means aida? Either way it's called easycount gridded, I think Zweigart makes it, I'd only ever do counted projects on the gridded material now, it makes things so much quicker and easier for counting where the stitches go.
I actually prefer 25ct now to 28ct, I just finished a mini HAED on 28ct, and it reminded me that although the coverage with 2 strands tent stitch is perfect, it actually gets really difficult to stitch through areas that are already filled with stitches when you get near the end of your project. On open spaces it's fine, but I was having trouble pushing the needle through in the crowded areas, so now I'm thinking 25ct is actually my favourite. The coverage doesn't look as good as 28ct while you're stitching, but actually when your project is finished it's totally fine, and when you wash a project it fluffs up the threads a little bit more again. And bearing in mind that when you're working on something the aida is stretched out on a frame...Once it's been off the frame for a while and maybe shrunk down a tiny bit, which must happen as well, 25ct is perfect, so id just go with that if I was you. I'm seriously now thinking about whether to restart some of my current wips on 25ct...not decided yet though. Its just that bit easier to get your stitches through towards the end.

Thanks a lot for this video, I am a beginner and I am so glad that this video exists before I start my stamped 18ct 😊
You're welcome. Glad you found it useful 😊
Thank you for this video! I will be doing the tent stitch when I work on a 14 count. Your stitched projects are beautiful!

I have the same problem. Broke needle.
Is there another way to start and end. 11ct six strands.

Aw thanks, that's a really nice complement. Thanks for watching 😊
Beautiful!
Thanks 😀
Thank you so very much for this! Exactly what I needed to know for my next full coverage.
You're welcome, glad it's of some use.

Thank you for that, I cannot find 28 count Aida as yet in Australia, only 25 count, so will keep looking. Even weave is a bit like linen.
