Great mods! I've got an older Polaris for sale. As you mentioned they do not qualify for an "N" number, although there was a window of opportunity in 2007 to get one registered with FAA as a "trainer". Don't qualify as ultralight any longer. I'm hoping to sell mine to someone who needs a 582 Bluehead that will part it out.
Hello great detail video of the Polaris with the Rotax 582. I Dont even know if you look at this video your self any more, but i want to make you a couple of questions, first is this dual starter, electric at the prop gear and pull manual at the back end of the motor ??? if it is an electric start at the prop gear what king of gear case is it, model or brand name, and is this the biggest fuel tank it can be installed in one of this without becoming greately underpowered since they only put out about 65hps. I did notice you dont have any safety wire on the springs for the exhaust, you need to be careful with those they tend to break and fly into the propeler, take some wire and put it throgh all the inside of the springs and tie wire to the pipe. There is a kit to get rid of all them exhaust springs and its a better sistem, also safety wire the oil cap on the top oil bottle, the caps do come with the hole to do so, they fly away into the prop too !!!! Other than that great trike and hope you fly safely and enjoy it !!!! Thanks
I know that you have since sold your FIB, but we have a question on how you modded your fuel tank to remove the view sight and replace with solid bolts. The screws at the top and bottom just seem to rotate and not come out. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Our next mod is that nice wing bracket. Great video!
They're just regular bolts from the hardware store with some rubber gaskets that will handle gas. Hard part was feeding them into the holes from the inside & then holding them while tightening the nuts. If you have the right tools you'll get it.
Been looking for one of these for years. Do you happen to know of any machines for sale? I met the inventor, Doi, in Oshkosh back in 2003 He gave me a ride at the Seaplane base. Thank's Doi. RIP.
It's Item number: 150803344249 on ebay and it's listed for an $11k BIN and you can make an offer as well. New ones currently are about $33k I was told, but you can't buy a new FIB and get an 'N' number. If you need that, you'll have to wait till one comes up for sale somewhere. These are awesome boats though all things considered.
