Thanks for posting this it's brilliant. I love the sound and style of Avalon Sunset but I can't believe he got so much energy into these songs live. There can't be anyone else who is as creative with their live sets as Van.
The drummer's name was Dave Early, now sadly deceased. Both he and Ritchie Buckley were regular band - members at the time, the rest of us were free - lancers just for this job....
The responder must be the great Ulster bass player Nicky Scott who, must be one of VMs greatest sidemen and very under-rated along with Richie Buckley .....and both very melodic players...

He was very polite with Interviewer , but it was easy to see , he got on his balls with some questions....... I guess thats why he wrote "Why do have to always explain"......
Alan...this is an absolute gem!! I attended the recording of this TV show episode and lost my video recording of it. Well done, you seem to have a great collection of 80s/90s TV clips of Van. Any chance you could post the 3 Van songs from Self Aid on RTE in 1986?? Many thanks,Damien
Loving it you never let me down thkyou hugs prayers 🤗 ❤ 💖

if you met Van in a bar, as the guy does, you would have no idea that he sings in a voice from the Gods...
This makes me think of sad memories, but I love the song even if the sound is poor
