Not only were his jokes respectful, funny and real: but if I pay attention you realise he knows a lot about the LGBT community and isn’t just speaking on something he doesn’t know.
I don’t know if I’d say he’s a bonafide ally, but as a gay man I respect Dave and know that he actually gives a damn abt the LGBT community. He’s not queer-phobic or whatever else ppl say; he’s just a good man trying to make people laugh.
I am not gay. When I was a high schooler, I did not like any of you. As I grew older, I took a job as a PI for a law firm representing this gay man who had divorced his wife for infidelity and emotional abuse. She actually filed for divorce. I had gathered enough evidence to show she was a nasty piece of work. She openly admitted she married the gay man for his money and she wanted a kid. She actually wanted a daughter. They had a son. She did not love him, refused to care for him or nurse him. Our client loved the son and paid for all the care the boy would need. It looked like we were set for a sure win with a nominal amount of support to be received from the mother for the son she hated.
Yes, it looked like we were a shoe-in for an easy case until the mother decided to make the case that the father had been sexually abusing the boy, and the sheriff arrested and imprisoned our client. Before we could get him a bond, he had been beaten by the inmates because for some reason the jail refused to segregate the father.
Now, I went back to the lawyer and said I wanted to work more hours on the case and the hours there were outside what he could allow me to bill would be pro bono. It took me almost three months but I found mountains of evidence that our client was innocent. More than just not guilty but innocent. The boy had always denied it, but his young age prevented that from being used as evidence. I sent the mother a honey trap. A real good looker with the appearance of wealth. She admitted to him that she had lied to get even with her husband. She actually laughed at how she described how dumb and biased the local yokel police were. "I just said he did it and they were like ok," she said. She was trying to show out in front of the honey pot. We knew she was just dying to tell someone. He later said he was afraid his disgust was going to ruint the show, however, she misinterpreted the look.
We took it all to court since we were representing him on both cases, a rarity. We not only got the case thrown out and a certificate from the judge to have all records of the proceeding sealed. We told the DA that unless he charged her with something, we were going to file suit against the officer and the city, report him to the ethics board, and if all that failed, turn the whole case over oops to the press. She got charged with basically lying to the cops in such a way that it was a felony, She pled guilty and had to serve probation and she agreed to never try to see the son she hated.
This big long story was needed to explain why I hate no one. For the most part, people are good. just going through life trying to do the right thing. They cannot help who they love. You are going to have people hate no matter what. Blacks are going to hate white and vice versa. Straights hate on gays and vice versa. Most of the time hatred can be overcome. Sometimes, especially when you have particularly evil people, it is hard. People that leave others alone and try to live their best life are impossible for me to hate.
I think Dave Chappelle gets this. However, he seems to buy into hey let us all hate Trump and his millions of supporters because they voted for him and not a crooked bitch. They impeached a man, a sitting US president over a damn phone call. They tried to impeach him when he was not even president anymore. Except the last one was to cover up the stolen election.
Now, I expect to get a lot of hate for this post, I don't care. I know for every hater another is asking himself why does Joe Biden keep getting passes sexual assault, his son's laptop, and other crooked shit we know he has done. Just forget about Trump and think about the double standard.

I don't understand why people in the LGBTQ community are always looking to categorise people in the black-white area of "love me vs hate me".
So a person being neutral, who is not all jolly ho and gonna come there and shake your hand and give you some cookies when they make eye contact with you, the same as someone who openly shows their hate for you?
Maybe the neutral individual is one who has a lot of things going on in their life, that they just don't have the time to think about you.

Being human is extremely tough, for all of us. Being transgender on top of that makes life even more impossible. It makes you feel vulnerable all the time, you feel different from everyone. It's not a straight forward road and there is a lot to figure out. I think that is why the trans community is easily hurt. Most of them are not in a good mind space themselves. All of that makes people feel triggered very fast and act emotionally.
With that said though, I still think every person is better off becoming more thick skinned. I am transman and honestly some jokes Dave Chappelle makes are really funny. And If I ever feel hurt by a joke, I always recognize that there is an insecurity I have to work on and thats all.
