This mando banjo is the alto banjo and the tenor banjo is tuned a fifth below like a mandola as a mandola is the tenor voice in mandolin family instrument.
I just inherited a very old mandolin banjo from my late grandfather. It needs some reconditioning which I am looking forward to, however I need a case for it. Anyone know a case that would work well?
+Gold Tone I'm a mandolin lover myself, but the banjo version is so bright and percussive. Even though there is historic value in the eight string version, maybe half the strings would put the sound in a more palatable level for modern day users. You can still get the vintage clash and brightness without it being overwhelming. Just a thought for your folk/alternative line
To my ear, there is a definite mandolin sound to this one.
Actually if you turn the volume up a bit, it's half way between a Mandolin & a Banjo.
The sound of this instrument is half way between a Mandolin & a Banjo, & it takes Standard Mandolin Strings.
Gold Tone You should probably keep this instrument going cause it's really fun to play.

Gold Tone Why not a Mando-Banjitar? It's a really little 6 String Banjo tuned an Octave Higher, also the Mando-Banjitar 12.
You guys should make violins already!
Has the company ever considered making a Melody Banjo? It's essentially a 4 string version of the mandolin-banjo.
+jeeping_foodie It's not something we've considered before, but we will certainly discuss it

I’ve a Melody Banjo - a George Houghton 4 string, it’s far sweeter than the Goldtone here, significantly better.
@@WC_Beer_Reviews Or why not put nylon strings on it instead?
I cannot find the hardshell case that is supposed to be available for this instrument
I wanna hear Irish music on this thing!
Does this come left-handed? doubt it, but thought I might ask anyways.
+TheWaldonevada We do have a left-handed version available. It is $40 more.
@Oscar Stern the gadget guy Circuits and Strings 2 They are. We tend to recommend light strings, but you can use any regular mandolin strings
@@GoldTone Light gauge mandolin Strings, cause I don't want to put too much tension on the Drum head.
Paul williams?
