This epilogue explains why Richard Madeley does all the Alan Partridge-esque acts on TV. He doesn't take himself too seriously. And that's brilliant. Too many highly strung or over happy clappy types of people dominate our screens these days.

The walk off at the end makes this. I expect he had to double back because the door was actually on the other side.

Free speech or not, the point is that Wilson was "living the dream" and he knew it. Being called a wanker is a small price to pay for that.

I was a student in 1991-94 in Manchester and that very same graffiti writing was STILL on the walls. I would like to know who was doing it ! imagine the effort.

      Resilient paint from the 1970s?

@@Evemeister12 No during my time there it was just a little after the Hacienda was at it's peak and New Order also, the Happy Mondays also so Anthony H Wilson was still in the minds of the Manchester folk.

Fair play to you RM! You both do (did) a job that 99.9% of us couldn’t. Tony was part of my growing up and just so happened to be the conduit to music I never knew existed. Top, top bloke and you can (and clearly do) feel fortunate to have such a mentor. Respect!

Richard might be right about what Tony was "really" saying, but what Tony actually said is simply one of the clearest and most unequivocal statements of the principle of free speech I've ever come across. Bravo.

I saw Phish New Years 1990 at age 13 at Worcester Centrum. I took acid and was sent on a Negative Trip by a Middle aged Britt at the doorway dressed like Dr. Seusse . He called me a wanker for seeing the show at a young age when the band was descent. Pigs are turned into bacon, the pigs think the butchers are wankers.
