  • In this tutorial video I show how to use Frisket film to mask off an area to preserve it & keep it clean when working. You can mask off the subject or the background. I use a ceramic knife in this demonstration to do the cutting out part.
You can purchase Frisket film via these affiliate link through which I earn a small % of income if you do happen to purchase via any of the links, thank you!

This is wonderful for multilayers of watercolor, colored pencils and even using a poured method. I know it’s a year later but this really helps for those who even might be losing our abilities that we once had. Nothing wrong with quilter’s magnifying glasses and whatever it takes. 😊

Ever designed your friskets digitally, then downloaded
the files to a plotter to cut them out using frisket paper?
Makes life a heck of a lot easier.

That's a great idea for those who might have one. I don't use the frisket often and this was just a method I shared yo make people aware of the product. To justify the price of a plotter I would need to utilise it much more but hopefully someone out there might read your suggestion and have access to one.

I’d be terrified of cutting this on my line drawing of going into the bristol.

Fantastic content! You are a star! I'm currently looking at drawing swans and babies, and whilst i tried black paper, this did not work as the colours are so muted which you may understand if you tried it. So am going to try this on pastel mat and add the background before i draw the swans and cygnets in colour pencil. I love your work and your tips are superb! 😘 You are a fantastic artist! Thank you x

Thank you for sharing...I’m running low on x-press it and can’t find it anywhere. I wanted to actually see if frisket was like x-press it.

I have a few questions about using frisket, if you mask the dog & do background with panpastels like you did here, could you then mask the background while you worked on the dog in colored pencil? Can you use a piece more than once for masking if you save the backing paper? I plan to order some soon but as its expensive in the states i want to make sure i dont waste any.

Maybe the discarded piece could be saved and stuck on as it’s already the right shape?

Try using a swivel knife. I find it easier than a straight blade.

I will suggest to Slice to create a swivel version of their ceramic blade. Tbh I usually spin my paper but for the filming I kept it is one position for the camera which is why it looked a little more awkward than it needed to be

How do you peel cut frisket and put it onto another surface? IT keeps getting tangled and a total mess when I try to unpeel it after. Hope someone can help out here :(

I can imagine it would twist and self stick especially if it is cut finely in places. Are you able to cut it using a blade gently over your actual support?

I wanted to see you USE the frisket, not CUT it.

    • @AnimalArtbyLAW
      @AnimalArtbyLAW  Месяц назад

You USE it by cutting it to the shape of the area you want to mask off and then laying it into place. Exactly what I did here? You then just get on with your artwork. Creating the background is a separate tutorial and nothing to do with the Frisket. This stuff is designed to simply mask off and protect an area to keep it clean. If you know of another use that needs demoing feel free to let me know 😊

Got exhausted watching this long video ... you can fast forward 90% of it is just the same

Sadly I cannot win when posting content. If I timelapse anything people complain, if I show it all in real time, peope complain. I made the decision to do it all in real time as that is wht the fast forward button is there for so people have the choice. Please remember that this is free content put out there to help others. Negative feedback will just make some of us rethink as to whether to give up our time to do so again

Really! When an artist is giving up her tips. This comment is really uncalled for. Find your own way 🤔
