Despite Supertramp's huge catalogue of better-known bangers, this is my absolute favourite Supertramp track! Thanks for sharing, reacting and liking it. Love your reaction and analysis style!
Tghis is a great opening song on one of my very favorite albums. If you want some more sax, check out "Better Days" and for a real experience, listen to the title track, "Brother Where You Bound". You'll be blown away. David Gilmore's guitar kills.
I was more than happy when I saw what song you played today!! Of all the Supertramp albums that I have, Brother Where You Bound has to be the one I listen to the most! You know how partial I am to the title track, but “Cannonball” is an awesome song as are many others from the album. Happy weekend my friend!😊
Had a feeling you'd enjoy my pick today. You didn't tell me it was THIS great.... Oh wait you DID! 😁 Now of course I want to finish this whole album as well as the next album. Happy Friday night Dale..
The Brother Where You Bound tour was the first big concert I attended with about 17 and it shook my world. I have been a fan of Supertramp for some years already but that was the first time I saw them live. It was absolute fantastic even without Roger (whom I saw many years later solo as well - equaly great). They played nearly everything from Crime and all of this album and their video projections were amazing. It also was John's birthday and they gave him a cake on stage even though he said he actually always comes to Switzerland to buy a watch (manufactured in Schaffhausen...) :D
@@retroreactions.... Dude, I know you are focusing on older classic groups and tracks but there is a current group that you really should check out by the name of Dirty Loops and their cover of Thriller (collab with Cory Wong) that will knock your socks off! The fact that they are managed by Quincy Jones should tip the scales. Cheers!
Thanks for the recommendation! Not sure if you know, but my channel window is only between 1970-1999, so I will add the Thriller song to my personal watch later playlist. I will check them out on my own for sure! Cheers...
Wow. I never expected you to like this track as much as I do. One of my favorites. I am now confident that you will enjoy "Ain't Nobody But Me" from Crime Of The Century. As much as I love 70's Supertramp, I was thrilled to hear Rick explore his jazz / funk roots on this track. These guys are great musicians who can play any style of music they wish.
One of my new ST faves! I have added another vote for Aint Nobody to my list. I think I will love the rest of this album and the next one. Thanks and have a great day Joseph!
Excellent Brandon - a really good album, IMO. I saw them during this tour and I don’t even remember that Roger wasn’t with them. I do remember that the Motels opened for them and Martha walked off the stage because she didn’t like the sound setup.
Yes, like 80s YES and possibly 80s ELP, I love 80s Supertramp! Nice, we both saw Martha live. Mine was around 1997 in a tiny club venue. Have a wonderful weekend!
Rick Davies found a groove and built around it...superb.Yes, trombone is in the middle section(along with the tasty keyboard bits). That ending synth solo really makes the song complete(the radio single version/MTV video cuts it WAY TOO SOON). Need to do " Better Days " from this album, after Brother Where You Bound, the best song on the album
It have something from "Goodbye Stranger" in the chromatic bridge like James bond, a powerful groove, Jazz elements, many nice keyboards sounds, it's a Rick Davies song, but something of the previous Supertramp seems missing, the other members are less apparent. Well Roger is gone but we knew it, I'm not sure it is Bob Siebenberg drumming on this title? because the feel of this beat is much too tight and straight, that it could be made by a drum machine (I could be mistaken!), and that makes it relentless and is steeling the natural soul from what there were supposed to be. It's like Rick tried to use older ingredients for that song with newer technologies but didn't succeeded. Sorry I never could vote so high, I was probably expecting more from them. Well that's what I felt.
Yes, it also reminded me a bit of Goodbye Stranger. Wikipedia says that Bob plays drums on this one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this song my friend...
My friend... I hope the next reaction be from classic Supertramp, like the emotionals and GREAT "Bonnie" and "C'est le Bon", from this album without Roger, I just rescue "No Inbetween" and "Ever Open Door"
@@retroreactions.... Anything from Supertramp BEFORE 1983 is welcome, Know Who & Waiting are pretty good, but Bonnie (best song of the album) and C'est le Bon are another level
Perhaps I just don't like change? I 'lost' Genesis in about 1981 quickly followed by Supertramp when Hodgson left. Like Genesis, the style changed... totally different with Rick Davies's jazzy approach. The emotion had gone.
Hola Brandon cómo estás ? In Argentina we admire Roger Hodgson a lot. He has been to Buenos Aires several times. We love his songs You make me love You and Lovers in the wind. React It !! Gracias amigo, saludos !
@@retroreactions....I add to the excellent suggestions of my countrymate, the absolutely fanstastic emotional "Only Because of You" wich closes his first solo album, and "Puppet Dance" (I LOVE that song)
This song was the point where I stopped listening to Supertramp. I'm a huge fan of their 70s music. Famous Last Words wasn't really that great and then this came out. No Roger Hodgson, No Supertramp. Rick Davies was the weaker songwriter with only a handful of good songs. This is just 80s pop with none of the unique style they had before. It only got worse after this.
What have I done to deserve this?! Supertramp songs- the gifts that keep on giving!! Thanks for watching! 🥰
80s Supertramp! Amped up and tight!
Absolutely! An all time fave for me already! Thanks for watching and being first here today on this one 🙂 🥇
200% For Real!! Everything was in that one song. 😃💙🎵🎶🎶🎶
Everything AND the kitchen sink!! 🧼 🧽 😉
Who knew Supertramp could be funky? Always liked this one, quite a banger, for all that it's a long way from their prog beginnings.
Now you are talking! Supertramp are such an amazing band and demonstrated life after Roger. You are spoiling us! All the best. Dave✅✅
YES!!! (not Yes haha) Excited for more from this album and the final one. Thanks, I'm being spoiled too, love it! Cheers 😊

Can't blame you there- clearly I adored this song too!! I appreciate you watching and your wonderful compliments 😊

The album Brother where you bound is my favorite album together with Crime. Rick did a great job after 1983 , nowdays I prefer albums after 1983.
Tonight the Leafs felt it all just like a cannonball!
A banger.
Agree! Happy weekend my friend!
Just brillant, would have worked as a Bond- Song 007
Glad you love it too! Total Bond vibes... Thanks for watching Isabel 🙂

If you haven’t listened to it yet, Downstream is one of their most beautiful sounding songs that I haven’t heard many reactors react to.
Great thanks for the heads up. I have added your vote for Downstream. Thanks for watching 🙂
I swear, when recording went digital it killed music, and we’ve never recovered
A decent pop song. Rick's vocals remind me of Mick's vocals from Simply Red who released their first album later this year.
Cool enough 🙂 Mick a vocal powerhouse for me! Happy weekend!
@@retroreactions.... Thanks. You, too, mate. 😊
Cuts across multiple genres. Kinda tv feel, l was feeling hot detective series
For sure! Love the song length, which lends to your point. Cinematic and James Bondish for sure. Have a great weekend!
Just love Supertramp but this was the last album that I can fully relate to as Rick seemed to guide them away from their core sound after this.
Hi there. I definitely see an evolution here. Let's see what I think of the rest of the album and the next. Thanks and have a great day!
Perhaps I just don't like change? I 'lost' Genesis in about 1981 quickly followed by Supertramp when Hodgson left. Like Genesis, the style changed... totally different with Rick Davies's jazzy approach. The emotion had gone.
Definitely a new style mixed with the old. Thanks for commenting your thoughts bud..
I can't agree more than 100% with you because 100% is the maximum.
Was fine with Brother where you bound but rick lost me completely with Free as a bird.
This is the only song by this group that I ever had any use for.
