Hi my name is Phil I started on the footplate in 1961at edgeley shed in 1962 I was made a fireman at Trafford Park shed I worked on class45 at times in 1964 I moved back to edgeley I did 50yrs on the footplate 8yrs on steam i finished my time out at longsight as a driver I finished in 2011 Regards Phil.
Enjoyable! Quiet a long stop at Overton. The comment re. the railbus at Wansford is fine, but the stock on the right is worth mentioning as well! The clearance gauge on the NVR is generous enough to allow them to operate. Reminded me of the first trip I ever did on the NVR in 1983, when the train was composed of some ex SJ carriages.
Having seen this I remember as a kid walking this line at western by welland about 4 years after Beeching closed it. Wondering now if this line could be extended to Bowden. Apart from a couple of slight deviations where Stations have been bought, i cant see many obstacles. I followed it all the way on railmaponline. I feel that although a heritage line, it would be financially viable as a direct route from Market Harborough and Bowden through to Peterborough.
What a nice cab ride! I love these semaphores. But it seems they are stuck in one position? Our local museum railway, the ZLSM here Simpelveld in the southeast of the Netherlands, has therir semaphores and signalboxes fully operational. Thanks for sharing.
I assume they are supposed to be running ‘Absolute Token Block’, as both the Up and Down signals are in the “Off” position??? Strange then that the Token wasn’t exchanged with the Orton Mere signalman!? 😲🤔🧐 Oooops! What gives?

Thanks for that Phil. I worked with an ex Edgeley Driver. Ron Prince was TCS at Toton when I went as relief roster clerk in the late 80's early 90's.

Made that journey many, many times, but not on a Peak, never got to drive a Peak.
I miss this so much the line run behind my house but unfortunately I moved 😕 I loved the sound for steam and diesel locomotives running pass

They do when busy. They also have the option of switching out when not busy. Thus doubling the length of section.
