I actually enjoyed watching this. Normally videos on youtube are "look at how good I am" and never show the reality of mario kart 8 deluxe. This is so relatable lol.
Thank You, I really appreciate that! I definitely need to get better because right now I make a lot of mistakes, and Mario Kart also has the element of luck sometimes.
@BlisterMK Yeah, I've only been playing for a month. Slowly learning. Might try tournament out soon and see how terrible I am haha. I'm only 4100 vr. But been playing crazy amount of hours. Think I'm addicted.
@@WillxWLM Honestly, I've had the game probably since 2017, and I probably first played it around 2019. But, in the past few months I've played in more that ever, because maybe 5 months ago I was at around 5-6k vr, and now I am at 14k.
Dang looked pretty tough, but ggs for sticking with it. Really glad you got some first places, def could hear the energy for it! hopefully next time you get some decent tracks at the beginning
79 is solid for your first event. As others have said, trying to keep the coin count at 10 is super important, the base speed increase is a lot more than it seems/feels and using the rearview camera more helps avoid situations where items are coming up from behind or seeing what the person behind has (example could've seen the guy having a red on Wild Woods behind you before you threw yours). It's good that you are actively thinking about your position in the race and what you actually plan to do with your items (such as holding triple greens a lot instead of chaining them, holding your star on Pinball for the last section - shock usually comes there too just unfortunate you got redded off there but your thinking was correct) rather than just spam everything you get which is very common especially in lower tiers. The more defensive playstyle is good just make sure you don't assume others will play like that because most will probably play way more aggressive than you do. Driving mistakes go down overtime with playing more as well (and everyone still makes them) so don't get too down on that. A single mistake can end up being extremely punishing in this game as well, even little ones so it can be pretty taxing. Couple other random things wanted to point out as well. When you go off halfpipe (blue zippers such as on DK SUmmit) if you press R while you are in the air you will be able to land a lot tighter and get a much better line (Waluigi Stadium good place to practice this since you keep going up and down them on that track in the piranha section). And for Grumble Volcano, the wide set after the glider is really good especially when you are bagging (lap 1 for example). This item set is a "broken item set" as well (not quite as crazy as DK Summits) so can easily get bills/shocks so getting 2 items there can save races lots of times. Apologies for the essay just saw you seemed to want feedback based on the other comments and good luck if you continue to keep playing and enter the scene.
First of all, thank you for the comment! I will say that I do need to improve on a lot of those things. I try to use my rear view camera, but I don’t really feel comfortable using it all the time which is probably because I don’t individually practice each coarse in time trials because I hate time trial, but if I practice the tracks I think I would be more comfortable with my rear view camera. And just like for the Wild Woods race, things like looking behind me before I throw a red shell would be vital because it would make me defenseless. I do know about the air hops on half pipes because I watch Shortcat, and I try to utilize them every race on those tracks. I am also aware of broken item sets and I don’t usually get two items on them but occasionally I do. Broken item sets definitely get more noticeable when you are in a middle spot because you could pull a bullet bill and it may even be easier in a middle spot because there can only be three bullets being held at a time and you would be one of the first to get the chance to pull one. Thank you for the comment and I really appreciate the feedback! I will try to incorporate those things into my gameplay in the future!
GJ on your first event and good luck for the rest o them. I have a tip: This game is capitalist. I mean coins most important thing in race. Give them more priority and you will win more.
A fellow new competitive player I see! Been doing competitive for a few days now, and boy am I struggling! Maybe we’ll meet each other one day, good luck to you.
my first event i got 20 points but now im averaging like 90 points in my last 2 events and up 300 mmr in the last 10 events youll figure it out if u want to continue
You did well all things considered, keep doing your best.
Small suggestion: use that rear view camera more 👀
