@@gerryk101"Loving Arms" is a song written by Tom Jans and first recorded as a duet by Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge for their 1973 album Full Moon. The song was covered by Dobie Gray that same year, then by a number of artists including Elvis Presley, Petula Clark, and Jody Miller in 1974
@@MrDomirulez thanks for the info . I guess it's because Dobey did his cover in the first year and I only ever knew of his version, I didn't notice the first . I always thought he was the original .
I found this song by watching Starsky and Hutch. What a song. I also looked up Dobie Gray, what a man, never married and donated his wealth to good causes on his death in December 2011. This is just a simply stunning song, executed so beautifully by Dobie. Just stunning.
Awesome song thank you Dobie Gray I always seem to be reminded of Dobie singing this song it lives on in my memory and touches me in a very warm and special way.
Have just come across this superb live rendition of the magic Tom Jans ballad. Had the total privilege of seeing Dobie in concert in Australia, many years ago. Have been lucky enough to see most of the world's top acts. Nobody comes close to Dobie, with his towering vocal performances. His lack of recognition was an absolute tragedy.
Decades ago I awoke to my clock/radio alarm with Dobie Gray just starting to sing this song. I might have been late for work but have never forgotten the captivating voice and melody of this performance.
If you could see me now The one who said that she'd rather roam The one who said she'd rather be alone If you could only see me now If I could hold you now Just for a moment, if I could really make you mine Just for a while, turn back the hands of time If I could only hold you now I've been too long in the wind Too long in the rain Taking any comfort that I can Looking back and longing for The freedom of my chains And lying in your loving arms again If you could hear me now Singing somewhere through the lonely nights Dreaming of the arms that held me tight If you could only hear me now I've been too long in the wind Too long in the rain Taking any comfort that I can Looking back and longing for The freedom of my chains And lying in your loving arms again I've been too long in the wind Too long in the rain Taking any comfort that I can Looking back and longing for The freedom of my chains And lying in your loving arms again I can almost feel your loving arms again Source: LyricFind

one of the saddest and beautiful songs ever written and only Dobie Gray can sing it with so much emotion
Great addition Dobie does a great job. If you get a chance listen to Elvis' addition.

Make that 2024 and for the rest of my life. The greatest voice I have ever heard live, and I've heard virtually all the greats from the 60s to now.

I love it👏
If you could see me now
The one who said that she'd rather roam
The one who said she'd rather be alone
If you could only see me now
If I could hold you now
Just for a moment, if I could really make you mine
Just for a while, turn back the hands of time
If I could only hold you now
I've been too long in the wind
Too long in the rain
Taking any comfort that I can
Looking back and longing for
The freedom of my chains
And lying in your loving arms again
If you could hear me now
Singing somewhere through the lonely nights
Dreaming of the arms that held me tight
If you could only hear me now
I've been too long in the wind
Too long in the rain
Taking any comfort that I can
Looking back and longing for
The freedom of my chains
And lying in your loving arms again
I've been too long in the wind
Too long in the rain
Taking any comfort that I can
Looking back and longing for
The freedom of my chains
And lying in your loving arms again
I can almost feel your loving arms again
