Thanks for producing this video and sharing it with all of us. I didn't know anything about your company, so what a great story! I purchased my first mountain bike in 1987, a Jamis Dakota. Who remembers "Bio Pace" (ovalized) front chain rings!! Awesome concept. I still have that bike, still ride it, and it still looks like new. I'm very proud of it, and get compliments on it. I recently purchased my first full suspension MTB, a 2003 Jamis Dakar Sport in all original condition. 7005 aluminum frame, 27 speed, and mechanical disc brakes. I logged 43mi on it, on our local mountain trails in the first week of ownership, and I couldn't be happier.
Thank you so much for making this video! I have a early 90's Jamis Eureka mountain bike in my bike collection and it's cool for me to know the history about this bicycle brand. I think this is the only American bike i own.
I bought a Jamis Exile back in the mid 1990’s and I still own it. It’s still almost stock and rides and shifts perfectly. Every time I have it in for a tune up everyone asks about it. It’s been on so many trails and roads over the years and has never given me any problems. I’m taking it up north next week to ride the Sedona Bike Park and I can’t wait. I also can’t wait to hear the comments on it.
My first and only Jamis is a 2004 Jamis Exile. I had bought two aluminum mountain bikes in less than a year and as a heavier rider who likes tough terrain the dealer said to me, "Steel is real, try this exile". It's currently 2020 and I am still riding that same steel frame. It's now a 1X mullet bike with 120mm of travel. I have literally replaced everything but the bottom bracket. Thank you for building such a solid product.
I am still riding my 35 year old Jamis Cross Country that I bought new. Chrome rigid frame & Shimano Bio Pace gears. Great story about the history of Jamis. Thanks
Thank you for making high-quality bikes in all of the price ranges. Through the last 10 years i've ridden Jamis Cross Country 2.0, Jamis Dragon 29 Sport '14 and lately i've purchased Jamis Hardline A2 '19. I've never had any frame-related problems and all of the bikes are a perfect fit for me. I won't think twice about choosing a manufacturer when i'll decide to buy another bike.
I love your story. I am very much looking forward to riding a slightly used Durango that I found on Facebook marketplace. This will be my first experience on a Jamis. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story...
A wonderful story. However there is no mention of how the bicycle became known as Jamis. I'm sure that's puzzling to many. Would it have killed you to just mention Ron Jamis, one of the originators of mountain biking in the 70s and 80s, whose company you purchased? That said, I still have my 1995 midnight blue Jamis Explorer XR in component level STX-RC, which I converted to a street bike for riding in my neighborhood. My wife still has her '95 candy blue Durango. And I have my '97 full suspension red Dakar. All still going strong and still love all of them.
I knew Carine's mother as well as a very young Carine ....Mrs. Joannou ( Carine's mother ) was a very, very nice person ....very refined ....always a pleasure to speak with, she had a soft yet determined persona ....it's a pleasure to see her in some of the photos in this video = GOOD MEMORIES !
I absolutely love your bikes. I've own a single speed boss cruiser 4 20 years and I'm trying to put together the money for the 7 speed boss cruiser. You make an awesome bike lady. Keep up the good work, thank you.
I purchased a Jamis Cross Country ATB in early 1986. I have ridden that bike off road, on road and really put it to the test over the years. That bike is still going strong, with all original equipment except for tires/tubes, chain and a brake cable. I own several bikes, but that old Jamis is my go-to favorite bike of all time. I would ride that bike anywhere in the world. If I could only have one bike, it would be this one. I will NEVER part with my old reliable steel Jamis!!
Wow! A proud owner of a Jamis Dakota d29 Comp '14, I can say that I'm even more happy with my choice after I have learned the history behind the bike. Keep up the good work!
What year is your Jamis Eureka made? I have a Jamis Eureka with red metallic frame and silver metallic fork. I think it's a 1994 model but i'm not quite sure about it. The bike is great and i really like it.
I remember the gorgeous Jamis Dragon hard tail I purchased in Brooklyn NY around 1995 in polished steel. It got sooo much attention in Prospect Park. I had slicks for it and did a 200 mile 3 day road ride on it in Maine !
I fixed up and rebuilt a 09 ventura sport I bought at a bike swap and its my first road bike coming from mountain bikes and hybrids and its some of the most fun I have had on a bike and full of personality.
Thank you Jamis i love my Jamis Durango A2 despite it is not the best but still it makes me smile everyday, popping wheelies and doing some tricks is our thing.
I ordered Jamis Trail x A1 from cyclop for Hill riding on rough roads and i don't know how it performs and where it would made in. waiting for delivery.
My father in law bought a Earth Cruiser about 20 years ago. He loved this bike so much and he rode it nearly daily for several miles just for fun. My mother in law passed it over to me as he died 4 years ago. Would like to know more about the bike as I know nearly nothing about it. Is there any way to decode the frame number to find out more about the specs?
Hello and thank you for reaching out. Please feel free to reach out to our support team at support2@jamisbikes.com and they might be able to assist you.
Not to be rude but payed big bucks for a beautiful Jamis Dakar X.C. full suspension love my bike can't ride it fractured at the pivot off of the btm . bracket? Both sides maybe a weak point can you help me with that? It's a great bike I've been riding off road for 30 years.
I have a jamis (cross country trail series ) bike that’s what the stickers on the bike say it’s a 26 inch bike but someone stuck the seat post to far into the seat tube does anyone at jamis have any suggestions
That’s very few videos put out by Jamie bicycle company on Facebook. I just purchased a 2018 renegade express and could not find one video on this bike and that’s a shame.
Hi Earl, Thanks for reaching out and we appreciate your interest! Please check out our 'Urban | Adventure' RUclips playlist for all things Renegade: ruclips.net/p/PLaFKt-hr3SY7IdNKacqurKCZEuZePL9YB or our playlist on Facebook: facebook.com/jamisbikes
I'm 5'9 prolly a 17, I like how it's a family ran company, i want to start a small bike shop, like in my back yard fix bikes for free, I worked at a bike shop learned alot, I just like tinkering.
Hello. I wish to have a coda sports or comp. But I don't find any seller who ships to India. I contacted Pravina enterprises, Katmandu Nepal (Jamis authorised dealer). But no joy. Please help me.
Thanks for your interest in our Coda Series bicycles. The closest distributor that would have those is Japan. You can find their contact info here: www.jamisbikes.com/usa/jamis-international.html
Been trying to find a bicycle since the pandemic. I may try a dxt a3 if i can find one or an a2. but you dont put the information of how much weight the bike can hold on your site. tall people ride bikes too. More xxl frames in more models please with heavy duty weight capacity for all types of riding. Please clearly in the specifications of bicycles you sell specify the maximum weight capacity of the bicycle. There is not information for this. I would buy your products but online there is no max rider weight limit information.
Hello and thank you for your interest in our DXT and for providing your feedback. The maximum weight capacity for our DXT Series is 300 lbs. However, we would like to add that this weight limit is for the frame itself. The components may have varying weight limits. Regarding availability, a limited supply of DXTs are currently en route to retailers so we recommend reaching out to your local Jamis retailer to see if they will have any in stock: www.jamisbikes.com/retailers/
My Jamis story: In 2003 I paid over $1000 for a Jamis Quest. Within a year the frame had cracked at the top of the seatpost. Dealer replaced under LIFETIME warranty. In 2014 the rear brake bridge joints failed. I rigged up a temp solution that let me keep riding. In 2018 both chainstay joints failed at the bottom bracket. I took to dealer for replacement under LIFETIME warranty. Dealer and Jamis denied my claim saying the failure was due to "normal wear and tear". I'll never buy another Jamis product.
My Dragonslayer is great. Yet still disappointed it has the “Made in China” sticker on the frame. For a $2000 bike if figure it would be made in the US.
Do you believe that Americans are better welders, have better steel or what? Giant has MANY bikes costing well over 2k made in China, I am not sure why the 2 thousand dollar figure would make it made in the USA. If it were, it would be as good as a 700 dollar bike from China...maybe.
Thank you Jamis for your quality built bikes.
Anytime
This seals it. I’m going with Jamis for my next bike.
We love telling the story of Jamis to our customers in store! A lot of great people all the way up the chain.
Well done Carine! I bought one today. Love it!

I love my Jamis roadbike ... Miami beach views all day in my bike
I just got my first jamis bike $29
You must have got a time machine and went to the early 1900's to get a bike at that price.
