That’s awesome! It sounds like you really appreciate the straightforward, immersive experience of the video. There’s something special about just being able to watch and listen to a thunderstorm without any interruptions
Same here. As a kid, I locked myself in the bathroom because there were no windows. But now, being an adult, I chase these beauties if they are close to my home.
EMP of course. Same thing that can stop your heart if you're extremely close to the lightning and also extremely unlucky to have it strike at a certain short interval between heartbeats.
@@algodoomarbleracing It's sometimes upward streamers but not in this case. It's a distinct pop you get from the tiny blip of interference in the ADC. Another giveaway is that the pop has absolutely no acoustics, whereas any proper streamer would carry at least a little reverb, being a rather significant electrical discharge. Here's an alarmingly electrical storm that has examples of both. The timestamp of 11 seconds lets you hear a nearby upward streamer, although you may need to turn the volume up / use headphones to catch it. I warn in advance that the actual thunder is loud. ruclips.net/video/kbk05pOW1q0/видео.html
I hate lightning storms at night especially when it strikes close. Before on September 19 2023 a massive thunderstorm hit my area and 2 lightning strikes struck so loud that it made me almost go deaf.
Me too, that’s what I’m saying man I seriously don’t understand how the hell people find this to be relaxing and sleep to this. I get that distant thunder can be soothing but you never know when it will strike nearby causing a massive jump scare in the middle of the night completely disrupting your sleep! Sorry to hear about your experience though that’s actually pretty bad….
That sounds really intense and unsettling. Lightning strikes, especially when they’re close, can be incredibly loud and startling. It’s completely understandable to feel uneasy about them. If you ever want tips on how to stay safe during storms or strategies for dealing with the noise, just let me know. Sometimes knowing what to expect and how to prepare can make a big difference.
That close strike was so oddly isolated... but as long as there are clouds, lightning can travel through them pretty far. Anyway, this really makes me miss sitting on the porch watching a nighttime storm approach during the summer. I'm craving spring/summer weather but that'll be a little while...
Just to add a little worry to your life, I remember seeing a verified incident where an individual in the US was hit by lightning 56 miles from the nearest storm. According to the WMO, the longest officially recorded lightning bolt on earth was 750 kilometres long and was recorded on April 29th 2020. it stretched from Texas to Mississippi.
I like the "quiet" rain. Very relaxing. The close strikes are awesome in the power produced. Don't like tornados the power is mind blowing. I have been within a few miles of hundreds of tornados. I am 58 years old this year. And would be happy to never see one again.
I record thunderstorms on my old cell phone & then put them on my ipod touch, it's perfect sleeping weather for me. I occasionally remember to upload my videos to RUclips as well.😊
Jason, Great Video. when was this storm? Catch more lightning for me. Apparently, mother nature owes me for the recent storm that decided to go to San Francisco
Excellent footage of thunderstorms...I find it so relaxing and calming during the night. Thanks, Jason!! What part of Oklahoma do you live in? My dad grew up in Alva, Oklahoma!! What kind of camera?
Nothing beats going on a long walk while a strong-severe thunderstorm is approaching, there's something about having to run all the way back home before you get battered by hail and damaging winds that makes it frightening yet so enjoyable.
I was so scared of thunderstorms when I was growing up. I love them now but I still get a little scared when the thunderstorms start dropping tornados everywhere.
I’ve always loved storms growing up, and still do. But about 20yrs ago I went to my girlfriend’s grandparents house for the weekend outside of San Antonio, TX in the hill country. It was perched on a hill with fantastic views, it was a traditional ranch style house with a metal roof (which is important to remember), but we pretty much had to stay inside the whole time because of the weather. Around 7pm, the storm was getting pretty bad. Lots of heavy rain, some light hail, but lots of lightning and roaring thunder. A few minutes later while a bunch of us were still playing poker on their big living room table, a MASSIVE bright flash came from the air duct just above us (which nearly blinded us), immediately followed by the loudest clap any of us had ever heard (that did cause hearing problems for almost a day). It didn’t matter how old how or how young, big or small, male or female, there was either screaming or cursin, and we all somehow leapt from our seats, but jumped under the table as if a bomb had just exploded inside, lol. The house on top of the hill with an AC unit on top of the metal roof was the tallest metal lightning rod around, so naturally, that bolt of lightning shot through the HVAC system and out the vents. That was the scariest damn thing I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve been shot at before, lol. Ever since then, if I see lightning while I’m outside, my @$$ is headed inside and away from any HVAC vents.
That is beautiful footage 💯 I really enjoy it whenever I close my eyes and there's lightning, the mind's eye slightly lights up. Almost feel as if im there looking outside of the window. Very immersive and merging 🫡🫵
I tell you what you most definitely would have field day shootings videos today and tonight with those storms in Dixie Alley bcuz from what I've seen on Weather Nation on tv those storms are putting out tons of lightning ⚡ ⚡ ⚡ along with the severe weather and tornadoes ⛈️⛈️⛈️⛈️⛈️⛈️🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️
This is a great recording. One of the best thunderstorm videos I've seen on RUclips. I like the static camera and no annoying commentary. Excellent.
I agree. The best ones seem to have a little description of what's happening at the bottom of the video, with no annoying narration.

Now I find it kinda relaxing.

thanks for making real storm recordings and no looping or mixed static (like the millions of rain videos on YT)
Crazy how there is a click before the lightning strikes at 1:07
That is the best lightning strike I have ever seen on RUclips!
Lol
EMP of course. Same thing that can stop your heart if you're extremely close to the lightning and also extremely unlucky to have it strike at a certain short interval between heartbeats.
That’s streamers failing to connect to the lightning bolt. If you hear a click before the thunder, you know you’re too close to lightning

Great Thunderstorm. Enjoyed it with good Headphones! 😊👍
