But driving to close to a rider on a ten speed is illegal yet it's okay to jaywalk? War on cars alert. People do run over bicycles and riders all the time. So they're right but if I want to just walk or run into the street it's ok???
What about night bike riders? What happens when THEY run into your car? They don’t have headlights on at night, so we can know they’re approaching if coming down a dark street? Especially the ones with the motors? Like it’s team work on the street, I look out for me and you but you also gotta look out for you and notice two bright lights at night (car) and not try to zoom pass it. We all do our part and no one gets into an accident, that’s how I see it. I tell my friend before he go skateboarding or biking, don’t expect vehicles to see you, especially at night. Even tho they should be looking around, but just don’t expect, so ride your bike for you and them. Be their set of eyes. Making sure you don’t get hit.
More stupid laws by this state 😅
Tell that to the dirty cops
You know an anchor has skills when she can read the line "100,000 new laws" with a straight face.
More Zombies will now throw themselves into traffic with no fear of repercussions! Great!
What about the driver being endangered by jaywalkers? I ride a motorcycle full time and I’ve almost been killed by jaywalkers. You mean to tell me that now I have to be on the lookout for random jaywalkers? Whoever thought of this idea needs their head checked! For some of us motorists, there are consequences!
precisely. Even when i drive on the freeway, there are signs that say, “Always look out for pedestrians”
You have to use your eyes when driving?!?!?! What outrage!
@@blahbaconblah I had a similar thought. The person operating machinery in public complains about nearly being killed by his machinery colliding with a person and needing to be on the lookout? Perhaps a tricycle would be more appropriate?
@@6dmiller I think they are feigning outrage. Complaining and pretending to be victims.
But Fentanyl is going absolutely bonkers there.
Nobody is selling fentanyl at employed peoples jobs. If you have one you have nothing to worry about
That second one is just common sense I been doing that for years...
Respect to others and all surroundings.
That's why I like California. The gun laws are a little iffy but they get it.
With all the homeless clogging up the sidewalks with tents and poop buckets you have to walk in the street anyway.
100,000 new laws, clearly it eventually gets to the point as what is too much?
Number One: NEVER wash your iron skillet with soap.
Seriously
Out of all the problems in CA, they chose jay walking and bicycling..
No wonder this state is failing
WELL IF CYCLIST HAVE ALL THESE RIGHT MAYBE THEY SHOULD PAY A SMALL FEE FOR USING OUR ROADS, 🤨 JUST SAYING
if the cyclists have to pay to use the road, so should you
Well, I pay city taxes already that pay for roads, are you saying we have to pay more?
@@thefox47545 yeah like a cyclist tax with registration at the dmv! cycle insurance in case of an accident!! they can make so much more money if they go this route.
@@speeddemon002 I'm OK with that, but would that make drivers more careful of cyclist? I don't think so.
@@thefox47545 you know how people are, lol
100,000 new laws taking effect and what do they talk about? Jaywalking and bikes 🙄
Instead of being tougher on law breakers California keeps reducing the severity of punishments or removing them completely. Glad I left.
Part of it is to let the entitled and the stupid deal with the consequences.
Bicycles should pay dmv registration fees! I don’t want to hear anyone complain that most bicycles own vehicles. Not even true..
I'm all for pedestrian safety and if you want to ride your bike I'm all for that, but, instead of making plans to upgrade the infrastructure to allow for cyclists to safely traverse the roads, they are going to impose a law that will fine drivers (that already pay super high road use taxes that are included at the pump and are supposed to go towards infrastructure development) for not giving way to someone who is technically impeding traffic (and also, probably if they don't drive, not paying the road use taxes) so that they can make more money to....not upgrade the infrastructure? California traffic is crappy enough, let's see how we can make it worse.
Bikes have always been on the roads... calm down.
Uh, bicyclists are traffic, and the car in front of you is a greater impediment than a cyclist (unless it's some crazy person literally trying to be an impediment). But if you're going to unleash passion about obstructions, I hope you'll consider the fact that even when a cyclist obstructs a driver it's usually a short time before the driver can pass; and proceed at the desired pace. But not so with other cars.
@@blahbaconblah never said that they weren't. Thanks for missing the point. 👍👍
@@6dmiller Not really sure where I "unleashed passion" about obstructions, I was actually trying to make a point that the roads need to be safer for cyclists and pedestrians and generally anyone that uses the public byways for any form of travel.
@@paulanderson8272 You said, "lets see how we can make it worse." Sounds to me like you are implying that putting in laws that help cyclists ride safe will somehow make your perceived issue worse. I can't help it if you fail basic diction and grammar. Your rant is pointless either way, and not exactly based in reality. It does not really matter if I missed your point, as I'm fairly certain it wasn't very well thought out to begin with.
why dont they quit letting violent criminals out of prison....
Because if they didn't who would?
Ever think of that smart guy?
If they have that new law for jay walking anywhere, where is the new law where you can hit jay walkers?
this is a huge win for e-bike providers!
100k new laws.... lol because so many criminals abide by the other 2074293429364173 laws 🤡
There are not 100k new laws. According to Newsweek, there are just under 1k new laws set to take effect in 2023 in CA. Just as unbelievable however.

New law for cycles and walkers because they can’t use the sidewalks. They are occupied by the homeless. But that’s not a problem.
Trash the bike and get a ev hummer
And spend as much as a gas cars. Yup, that totally makes sense. ruclips.net/video/ORKuZxrFr6A/видео.html
As if hit and runs weren't bad enough..
Well if you want to throw some common sense into the equation, maybe the “cyclist” should bear the responsibility to determine if the path they are choosing is safe. Too many times I have encountered these cyclist type people who seem to think the road is for them, not the cars. Gee, isn’t that money that I spend when registering my vehicle supposed to be used for the upkeep of roads in the state? How much do cyclist contribute to this fund? So very sad that common sense is the missing element in so many decisions made these days.
Cyclist rule the streets love my bike

Bikes, ebikes and escooters are a huge problem on the sidewalks. I'm a pedestrian. @@blacknbluegamer2979. Yes, they are. But before scooters were a thing, it was plain old fashioned bicycles that were the danger to folks walking on the sidewalk, because they approach from behind/fly by at speed, totally silently.
@@myoldvhstapes I agree with you what I mainly stating is if it doesn't have a motor in it it should stay on the sidewalk because where I live there is groups of bicyclers that don't pay attention behind them and are in the middle of the road and the right side of the road and it's just dangerous for them
100,000 new laws? Im sure every single one of them had the best interest of the people in mind.

What about homeless people and there campers????
what about them? blame the weather and the lack of natural predators. Move to the suburbs or stay out of the city
It’s simple to stop all the Bicycle accidents completely: don’t use a bicycle :👍🏻 fixed
The real problem is not the cyclists, but the scooter riding folk that block multiple lanes and don't follow traffic laws, like stopping at intersections.
Yeah, the problem with electric scooters, the rental ones anyway, is that they are usually rented by people that have no experience on scooters, especially when they go so fast! I used to work in an ER in Santa Monica and electric scooter accidents by inexperienced riders were very common.
OK but cyclists can whitestrip others by passing into lanes and weaving in and out of traffic when it's backed up with no tickets? So moving over makes it safe for them, but they make the roads unsafe.
Lane splitting is not illegal in California, nor is it unsafe.
@@blahbaconblah it should be. Dangerous
@@jonathanfalkowsky672 Lane splitting is statistically safer for both cyclists and motorcycles. It prevents cyclists from being sandwiched between cars in a rear-ending accident which are very common at intersections.

Homeless closed down 36 biglots in Southern California
Well, yes 1 store is closing bc of the homeless in that area (hey, elected city officials what are doing to help your constituates?) and blatant shoplifting. Although, homelessness is a national crisis, those responsible are the states Governor, the county Mayor & county office representatives and the city respresentive and city office officials and lawmakers within those branches. Sorry, I digress point being Big Lots (way too much coffee).
Lots President and CEO Bruce Thorn said the Citrus Heights location is closing due to homeless & shoplifting. An employee said some people dial-up a cart and walk out and there's nothing they can do. She added that there's a "loophole" in the law that says anything below $950 in theft is only a misdemeanor (as opposed to a felony). Tough neighborhood.

Prior to that announcement, Big Lots had had a "flat store count" for a decade, noting that they were introducing a "store invention program" to reduce # of closures. However, the situation has changed and a # of closing stores is picking up.
