Splendid work! Congratulations! Bet your wife likes the holders and will show her appreciation with turning out a "Robust" dinner for you. Sorry...I just couldn't resist!
Greetings from Tulsa, neighbor! I just discovered your channel and placed an order of Tim's tools for my fiance. He's just starting his wood lathe journey and I think will really love the center finders I found on your website. Take care and thanks for your work on the channel!
I totally agree that olive wood is beautiful. I too was at SWAT and also got a few pieces of olive from Jarrar Group Imports. Yours are bigger than mine though. LOL. I think you did the two that you have quite proud. Thank you for sharing. Have a great holiday and stay safe.
Olive wood is so wonderful to turn. When I lived in Phoenix, AZ, I could get as much Russian Olive as I wanted because it is considered an invasive species out there. Great project Tim and such a lovely wood.
That Olive Wood is so delicious that I've spent the morning sipping coffee while imagining a deep coring system like the Bowl Saver system. The best I could dream up would be a giant (deep throat) hole saw. However, parting the bottom of the core has me stumped. Think of all that wasted beautiful wood that would have made a blank for a Salt or Pepper shaker. Wakodahatchee Chris
Beautiful work 👏! The first one you did looked like it had a nail in the side of it? At least I saw something shine and stand out lol. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!
Hi Tim, Olive has neat grain. I have a 6" x 3'"deep natural edge bowl from an olive tree grown in Las Vegas and I love it. An idea to consider. When your tool bar starts to hang too far over the Robust Comfort Rest try using their Robust Box Rest they have available. I have one and use it regularly with my American Beauty. Nice video, Myles Did your wife appreciate her new tool holder?
I still think of olive as my favorite wood to turn. These are some beautiful canisters. Nicely done Tim. I’m sure you gained some brownie points with SWMBO. 1 question, why use mineral oil that never dries or polymerizes? I would have thought that you’d use walnut or tung oil, both drying oils that are food safe.
I have noticed that drying oils look good for a while but they lose their luster over time and need a new application. While mineral oil does the same I've always liked liked it because it is easy for the non-woodworker to find and reapply. Also we have some severe food allergies in our extended family so I have always played it safe.
Stunning wood Tim. Thanks for the great video. BTW, referring to the bandsaw fence, as my wife would say, "Read the directions Stupid". Naw, too easy. I'm a man and I learn better through experience, right?
one reason i love watchin ya... you do idiot things then own up... like i do a lot of idiot things... lol .......still wanting a chess set ;) :| hope you remember me :|
Hey you can't learn from perfect. That's why you are watching me! I remember about the chess set...sorry not going to happen. It about killed my soul the first time :^) It was so tedious and exacting my brain hurt for a month!
@@woodturningwithtimyoder lol yeh just like to poke the bear 🐻 I watched someone do a chess set sped up and I was goin crazy just watching ...keep turning!!
Very good work, but a little beginner. We in Tunisia do everything imaginable from olive wood, produced in the kitchen, for decoration throughout the house, and many more. Kind of advertising🥰🤭

As a carbide only turner, I like to use the round head tool to knock the corners off before changing to the rougher to get the blank round.
Absolutely gorgeous food prep tool canister Tim.
Love the aroma of olive wood while turning!

I made a holder for a round carbide cuter on my bar, cuts a lot faster and easer. Easy to make with a piece of round stock. Like the videos.
Olive wood is so nice to turn and is beautiful. Love your utensil holders. Thanks for sharing.
Very beautiful sir. Have a great Thanksgiving

There was a saw cut in the rim and I did not want to shorten the vessel so I inserted an Ebony splint to fill the cut.
I picked up some smaller pieces from those guys at SWAT. Letting it dry in my little kiln for a while still. Just to make sure its good to go.
