- If you listen real close, you can almost hear the fish laughing at us.
This is our first time fishing Lake Roosevelt on the Columbia River, where approximately 750,000 triploid rainbow trout are planted annually. Stretching 150 miles from Grand Coulee Dam north to the Canadian border, there is no shortage of shoreline from which to cast your line.

They say winter can be the best time to fish rainbows on this lake. It is the middle of January. We're equipped with firewood, some warm clothes, and enough grub to get us through the day. Enjoy!

God's blessings to you all. Until next time, peace, health and happy trails! -West Fork
I'll give you a subscribe, if you give me a subscribe. ;) I've only just gotten started with shooting video, but I'm all over lake Roosevelt, and the Colville Valley area.
Wow, no noisy boaters just peace and quiet. That is my kind of fishing.
My Homewater, love it on the water. Triploids are fantastic on the grill or smoked. Enjoy.
I live up by hunters, trout fish all winter. If I don't get a fish in 15 min I move. Just move 30 ft at a time. Keep working the shore. Get in your car and try another spot. I usually fish out of my boat if the trolling bite is on. But if it's slow I park on a beach n fish just like you. I never get skunked, the secret is cast out let it sit for 2 to 3 min and reel in about 4 turns let it sit a couple of more min and repeat. I swear the fish just sit n stare at the bait. By reeling in and moving the bait it causes the fish to strike. Absolutely works. Once winter is here it's easy to shore catch these rainbows. I almost always give fish to people fishing near the boat launch if they are having a slow day. It makes me feel good and they get to take home some big delicious lake Roosevelt trout.
Good advice
We are spoiled to have such a beautiful natural resource like Lake Roosevelt here in the northwest. Me and a buddy went boat camping a few weeks back. With calm waters and a full moon It was the most serenity I have felt in a long time.
That sounds like fun. We want to do that very thing - launch the boat with camping gear & cook fish on the shore. The moon over the water would be stunning!
I live in Seattle, but most of my fishing grounds are on the Eastside. I mostly fished Moses Lake snd Potholes. I been up to Lake Roosevelt two times so far fishing for Burbots, and I love it there so serene and beautiful. Keep up with your cool videos. I subscribed and liked your video good stuff 👍.
Thank you, Slabslayers. We caught one burbot this year, and it sure was tasty! Thanks for the sub. Hope to see you on the trail!
Gorgeous day. The water is like butter. Nice video, even if you had no fish
Thanks for watching, Stoney Stones. It was a wonderful day. The beauty of getting skunked is less mess in the kitchen - but we'd rather catch a few! 😁
Saw Roosevelt Lake so started to watch it and soon realized it wasn't the same Roosevelt Lake here in AZ. Hahaha. Tight lines.
Tight lines to you as well!
You guys are awesome and loving the dream life. Stay Special and Blessed

Thank you, sir. Come by any time!
What a great way to spend the day... fish or no fish. Those morning clouds were mystical. Beautiful scenery there. Surprised there was no ice yet. 150 miles of lake is alot of lake! Nice vid West Fork...
Glad you enjoyed, Pinepuppy. We plan to go back and this time land some of those big trout. Stay tuned!
A tip I learned bank fishing in winter, is to keep your line in close to the shore. I cast out no more than twenty feet. We’ve got eighteen in three 2 day trips over there just this year. Twenty inches was the largest off of home cured marshmallows with anise. Mostly use power bait. Good luck your next trip out.
What part of Roosevelt were you on?
Looks like a good day at the Lake fish or no fish. Tight lines!
Indeed a great day. Looking forward to trying it again, once the weather warms a bit. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hope to fish it this year
There sure is lots of fishing opportunity on Roosevelt. We want to try again once the weather improves!
Great video, very relaxing. How does it go in the spring say in April or so?
Thank you wojomojo. I hear reports it is heating up right now. Two limits off the shore by one guy. We are headed back there pretty soon. Should be good for the next 2-3 months, depending on the water level. Thanks for stopping by. Come again, any time. Tight lines!
How big do the trout get there?!
My grandpa used to say the fish are so big, the head comes up on one side of the boat, and the tail pops up on the other! But there are some hogs in that lake!
I catch then regularly between 16-20” with my largest at 24”.
I live In the coulee area if you don’t mind can you give me a location looks like a great place to take the littles
